Chapter 528: Chapter 528: Don’t worry, we have washed our hands!

Abigail, after calming herself down, tugged at her cheeks and then walked inside.

"Hey, Teddy, Mommy is here! Call Mommy!" Aunt Claudia exclaimed when she saw Abigail walk in.

The little guy was very happy to see Abigail and raised his hands, asking to be held.

Abigail quickly went up and picked him up. "Teddy, say Mama, say Mama, and Mommy will make you a delicious dinner tonight, okay?"

"Baba baba..." The little guy didn’t seem to quite understand Abigail’s words, but responded by saying "Baba baba."

Aunt Claudia laughed. "It seems he’s not going to change for now."

Abigail had already gotten used to her little rascal only calling for his dad. It made her feel a bit more bitter and even clearer about the child’s inherent dependency on his father.

"Don’t worry. There’s a transition period after kids learn to call for Mom or Dad. Then, they’ll start actually learning to speak, and there’ll be more sounds they can make. Besides, calling for Dad first isn’t so bad; in the future, when something happens, he’ll go to his dad, saving you a lot of trouble." Kelly teased with a smile.

Abigail smiled along, but she hadn’t looked at Brandon Piers even once since she walked in.

After playing with the two little ones for a while, Kelly sensibly suggested, "I and Aunt Claudia will take them downstairs for some food. You can join us after your workout and spend time with Teddy."

"Oh, I almost forgot, Teddy needs a little more baby food later." Aunt Claudia suddenly remembered and, after herding Teddy and Kelly out of the gym, left Abigail awkwardly sitting on the yoga mat.

But when Abigail came in, she had mentally prepared herself. She was just stunned for a moment before she started exercising as usual.

She had already become skilled in the exercises the man had taught her before. They weren’t hard on her, and she quickly immersed herself in the workout.

Brandon was very angry, but he acknowledged that he too had his faults. Besides, he had not come home last night, nearly caused a scandal with a low-tier actress, and was too proud to apologize. So after lunch, he went to the children’s room to ease the tension.

But when he proactively approached, the damn woman had ignored him and walked straight past him at the door.

Out of anger, he didn’t even go to see Teddy.

After not seeing her all afternoon, he felt uneasy. Hearing from Housekeeper Piers that she wasn’t feeling well, his heart softened again. At dinner, he even let someone wake her up and specially brought two boiled eggs to the gym to wait for her to wake up and find him.

But there she was, playing with Teddy and chatting with Aunt Claudia and Kelly, while disregarding him entirely.

Standing on the treadmill, Brandon got angrier the more he ran. Especially seeing Abigail doing some exercises incorrectly without asking for his help, he became extremely irritable. As he ran, he suddenly pounded the treadmill with his fist and turned off the machine, storming out.

Abigail was startled by the man’s sudden rage, her heart almost skipping a beat. An indescribable grievance surged up, almost bringing tears to her eyes. But when she looked again, the man was already gone.

"Bastard!" Abigail cursed under her breath with a choked voice.

Unable to continue exercising, she sat on the yoga mat in a daze for a long time. Not until she guessed Teddy should be asleep did she get up and head downstairs.

That night, Abigail slept with Teddy because she feared being alone would make her overthink.

Things had come to this point; Abigail didn’t want to torture herself any longer. That wasn’t her nature.

She just fell back to her starting position; there was nothing she couldn’t handle.

...

The next day.

Abigail woke up in the morning, fed the little guy until he was full, played with him for a while, and then headed downstairs for breakfast when Kelly came and Teddy started playing with Tate.

Brandon was not there.

Thinking of the man’s angry departure from the gym last night, she wasn’t even sure if he had returned home. She wanted to ask Housekeeper Piers, but the words felt pointless. What good would asking do?

It would only self-humiliate herself!

Everyone in this house worked for Brandon Piers, didn’t they?

Pullan had always been dismissive of her. But last night, after she sent a few messages and even called him, he didn’t answer, only telling her later that he was in the car, making her think Brandon was coming back.

Yesterday, she hadn’t seen him all day.

The more Abigail thought about it, the more ridiculous it felt.

After eating a few bites, she didn’t go to the gym, but spent some more time with Teddy until she heard a knock. Housekeeper Piers was urging her to go to school.

She finally went downstairs, still not seeing Pullan, but Peter was waiting for her instead.

"Madam, Pullan is on vacation. I will take you to school for the time being." Peter said respectfully.

"Hmm." Abigail guessed Pullan felt guilty, unwilling to ask for the reason, and directly followed Peter to the garage.

As soon as she entered the school, Abigail felt the various gazes people cast at her.

There were admiring, worshiping, disdainful, and envious looks, and Abigail accepted them calmly.

On the way here, she had anticipated this.

Though Brandon had cleaned the online information thoroughly, many people at the school had seen it. Plus, in a communal setting like school, rumors spread quickly. It would be unusual if there were no gossip or peculiar glances.

Especially since Abigail was Brandon Piers’ fiancée.

Setting aside the championship, drugging incident, and her scandal with Jeffrey Foster, her identity alone ensured her life at school would never be as peaceful as it was before.

Nonetheless, Abigail understood clearly that the more composed she appeared now, the faster these rumors would subside.

She walked calmly to her classroom, surprised to find that all the usually tardy or early-leaving students were sitting properly in their seats, except for Duncan Symons.

Abigail walked in, giving everyone a curious glance. She was about to head to her seat when everyone suddenly stood up, bowed deeply, and shouted in unison, "Good morning, boss!"

Abigail, who was about to walk to her seat, paused, "..."

What kind of act was this?

Abigail directed a questioning look at Lena Locke. Lena, abruptly shouting, "Classmates, you can touch her now. Go ahead!"

The next moment, the orderly class suddenly rushed toward Abigail.

"What are you... what are you doing?" Even though Abigail prided herself on her strong nerves, seeing a crowd of dozens coming at her was still frightening, especially as everyone stretched their hands out toward her.

Remembering her shoulder being touched all over last time, Abigail just wanted to run.

But someone, understanding her thoughts, shouted loudly, "Don’t worry, we washed our hands!"

"Hahaha..."

The laughter burst out instantly.

Abigail couldn’t avoid it and was touched by everyone again, feeling both annoyed and amused.

Luckily, although they made a fuss, they were mindful of Abigail’s status and didn’t go overboard. The commotion ended quickly.

Abigail glanced at her unstained shoulder, relieved. Her actions induced another round of laughter as she asked, "Who didn’t wash their hands last time?"

"Hahaha..."

Another wave of laughter ensued, easing Abigail’s recent depressive mood quite a bit. She shook her head helplessly, "A bunch of goofballs."
