Chapter 61: Ch 61: Familiar Faces in Rebellion- Part 1

"Woah-! I know that you don’t like or trust us, but isn’t asking to die a little too much, even for you? If I were in your position, I would have asked for cooperation instead. Maybe you need a doctor more than anything else."

Clara shuddered as she spoke these words. Her eyes were filled with pity when she looked at Queen, and those emotions made Queen rage even more.

"Tsk, what would someone like you know? I would rather die than disappoint someone I love. Hey, you-! Make sure you take a stab at my heart."

Queen told Seraphina. She recognized the killing intent Seraphina was showing her, and she realized that the only one who seriously wanted to kill her was Seraphina as well.

However, before Seraphina could land the killing blow, Andrew decided to interfere.

"There is no point in killing an ally. So for now, it would be best if we knock you out."

Andrew told her seconds before he hit her in the back of her head. Queen lost consciousness within seconds, and Andrew put her body down.

"Will she be alright? Are we going to leave her out here? Is it safe?"

Clara asked as she looked around.

"It should be fine. There aren’t any monsters in this forest at the moment, and once Queen’s team realizes that she hasn’t returned, they should come to look for her..."

Andrew did not say the last words aloud because he had a feeling Clara would feel too guilty about this and ask to take Queen with them. But Andrew did not need another time bomb in his party.

Besides, Queen looked unlikely to listen to him, and he did not want to be responsible for her life when he already had a lot of responsibilities right now.

"Hmm, if you say so. Then should we head back now? I’m sure Lilianna and Emperor should be done on their side as well. They only had two dungeons to run, after all."

Clara remembered, and they all quickly left for their meeting spot. They were the first people to reach the location, but it did not take long for Emperor and Lilianna to appear.

"Lilianna, you’re back. So how did it go? Did you have fun?"

Clara immediately went to Lilianna’s side and wrapped her arms around the startled medic. Lilianna tried to force a smile on her face, but she looked exhausted.

"I... it was fine. We managed to get the two relics without much effort. What about your side?"

Even though Lilianna said that, it was clear that something was bothering her.

"Really...? Was everything fine? But you..."

Clara started to ask the question, but the look on Lilianna’s face made her pause and realize that it wouldn’t be a good idea to ask her any questions. At least, not at the moment.

Andrew took over quickly before the situation could become awkward.

"Now that we have all the relics, we should head back to the pub where the meeting is being held with the NPCs. The real dangers of the game are about to start now."

He reminded everyone, and they nodded before they started to head back.

The village air felt tense. No matter where they looked, people were shifting around, almost as if they were bracing themselves for something. The guards were patrolling the area as well.

"It seems like something happened here. You all wait here. I will go and ask what happened."

Seraphina moved toward the guard who was wearing a similar uniform to her.

Since she still held NPC status, not a lot of people doubted her or paid attention to her. She grabbed a soldier’s attention as he ran around.

"Excuse me. I am from the patrol guard, and I just came back from the forest. Can you update me on the situation and what is going on?"

She asked, and the guard wasted no time spilling all the secrets.

"The queen was attacked by a group of arrogant terrorists. Of course, the queen is all-knowing and magnificent, and thus, she managed to avoid the attack. But we have received information that more people are aiming for her life. If you see anyone suspicious, please do not hesitate to call the imperial palace and give us the information. You will be heavily rewarded for your efforts."

The guard told Seraphina before he went back to patrolling, and the situation around them became a little more clear.

"Tsk, looks like some fool decided to attack the queen outright and fail. This will make it much harder for us all to clear this stage."

Emperor looked ready to grab the person who caused this mess and squeeze their neck. Unfortunately, that was not a possibility.

"I’m sure that some humans also took the queen’s side and snitched about our plan to her in order to get close to her. Attacking her head-on was never a good idea. For now, we should prepare for the underground meeting in a few hours."

Andrew told everyone. Around then, the guards rushed around and grabbed a few people to ask them questions. But the guards were not gentle, and anyone who resisted was taken to be ’dealt with’ by these guards.

"Hey, isn’t this an abuse of power? These people can’t just grab anyone they want and put them behind bars. It isn’t right..."

The more Clara saw what was happening, the angrier she got. Her nails bit into the palm of her hand as her desire to help erupted inside her.

But a hand on her shoulder told her that she was not allowed to do anything. She looked behind at Andrew’s blank expression and felt her anger drain out of her.

This place was not real, and these people were also created for the sake of the game. To win it, she needed to control herself.

But it was really hard for her because, at this moment in time, all these people existed and were alive to her.

"I know how you feel. But you need to bottle your anger up for later and unleash it toward the right person."

Andrew reminded Clara, and she took a deep breath before she nodded.
