Chapter 735: Chapter 735: Do Not Inform Him Yet

It seemed that the princess was willing to adhere to Arabella’s conditions, albeit with a slight modification to include her own companions.

’One knight and two servants should be fine. I’ll be able to hear their thoughts anyway,’ Arabella said after she read the letter. She passed it to Alwin so he could read it as well.

Arabella already knew Seraphina would likely request for her guards to be present as well so this was not a difficult request from the princess.

[Just one knight and two servants? Are they sure about this? We did not mention that only Rendell and I will be there with her. Is it because of what they saw in Medeus? We were the ones usually near her.]

Arabella and Alwin exchanged glances, silently assessing the implications of Princess Seraphina’s response.

Arabella nodded, acknowledging the concession, understanding the need for Princess Seraphina to have her own support in such a delicate meeting especially since it was also risky for the latter.

"I think it should be fine. If she’s willing to meet with me with just that few people, she must indeed be desperate," Arabella concluded.

If Princess Seraphina’s claims were true, Arabella would love to hear more about it.

"If that’s the case, then whatever information she has must be important," Alwin was more curious now.

Not knowing something they should know weighed heavily on him since he’s among the people Ferdinand entrusted such things to since he could magic here.

"Yes, I want to know about that too. She might know about something we need to be aware of before the war starts," Arabella said, her voice reflecting a mixture of caution and determination. "We shall accept her terms as well."

[It’s good that it’s in the Magic Tower. However, we still need to ensure nothing could go wrong. Who knows if this is another assassination attempt on her. His Majesty will go mad if something happens to her.]

Alwin nodded in agreement, but his expression was serious. "Then, I will make the necessary arrangements for the meeting. Security will be our utmost priority. If you hear anything wrong or dangerous from their thoughts, warn me immediately."

"Yes, of course."

"Oh, and we should inform His Majesty about this first," Alwin said and Arabella froze.

"No. He will not agree. He might return here and insists on meeting the princess with me. He will overthink this. Let’s inform him after the meeting is done," Arabella quickly said.

Alwin gulped since he might get scolded due to this.

"His Majesty will get angry that he was not informed earlier," Alwin complained.

"I will be the one telling him and accept his anger. I will do my best to calm him down and make him promise not to scold you since I am the one who insisted on not informing him first," Arabella explained.

She did not want to distract Ferdinand while he was at work. Likewise, they were not even sure yet if there is anything important they would get from this meeting.

Arabella wanted to hear about the information Princess Seraphina has first before informing Ferdinand about this. She wanted to be useful and contribute in solving the problem about Crux especially now that she was given a chance to do so.

"Fine. Alright then," Alwin sighed in exasperation but let up since he was also embarrassed to have bothered Ferdinand in case this would be a useless meeting.

[Rendell and I will be there. I will teleport her elsewhere immediately in the slightest signs of danger. If Princess Seraphina is a sacrificial piece, then she or her companions might do something during the meeting. I’ll have Riley prepare to imprison them here just in case something happens.]

"Thank you," Arabella smiled. She leaned back in her chair, contemplating their next steps.

As Alwin had thought about, this could be an assassination attempt on her. However, she had already experienced it quite a lot by now.

The difference was that she was sure Alwin was her ally this time. He would protect her for the sake of their agreement and their goal in this second chance at life.

Crux is one of the kingdoms where slavery was too rampant so aside from helping the Prudencians return home, this meeting could be a pivotal moment in their efforts to address the issue of slavery in Eliora.

It also carried significant risks, both for Arabella personally and for those who would be with her, but she could trust in their strength.

She then wrote her reply to Princess Seraphina and it returned in even less time as the latter promptly replied and asked for the time and date.

"When should it be?" Alwin inquired as Arabella pondered.

Arabella was sure they would discuss war preparations again tomorrow and she would have to be the one to declare they attack if Ferdinand was still busy.

Thus, she had to meet the Princess immediately. She would have asked for it now but she knew they needed to prepare.

"I’ll be at the Court Session tomorrow. It would likely last for a few hours so I’ll be able to meet with the Princess in the afternoon or evening," Arabella concluded.

"I see. The sooner is better indeed," Alwin nodded.

Arabella then wrote a reply to Princess Seraphina and the latter was elated to be able to speak with Arabella so soon.

"I will take care of the preparations then. Riley will switch with me for now," Alwin said his goodbyes to strengthen the security of one of the meeting rooms in the Magic Tower.

"Yes, thank you. Please inform Alfredo to prepare the tea and refreshments for the meeting," Arabella said as Alwin prepared to head out.

"I will," Alwin said and teleported to the Magic Tower and Riley arrived to help guard Arabella in his place.

As Alwin busied himself with the preparations, Arabella took a moment to reflect on the broader implications of their actions.

She could not shake the feeling that there was more at stake here than just what they originally intended.
