Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress-Chapter 717: Parting with Smiles
"Really? You will?" Ferdinand’s eyes lit up.
[She would give me more gifts in the future?!!]
"Yes," Arabella smiled.
Ferdinand snaked an arm around her waist and pulled her into an embrace. He kissed her on the lips and said with delight, "Alright then. I’ll use these."
Arabella smiled and asked him to sit down so she could tie his hair for him.
Ferdinand obediently did and watched with a smile as she did her work. She used two hair ties to ensure they would not come loose while he was busy.
"Alright, it’s done," Arabella smiled when she successfully tied his hair to how it was before they had a steamy time.
Ferdinand rose and she fixed his clothes again, ensuring it was not obvious he spent some time in her room being naughty.
"Thank you. I’ll return to see you as soon as I can," Ferdinand held her and lovingly kissed her on the forehead.
Arabella’s heart raced. It gave her a sense of peace and assurance that no matter where he went, he would always come back to her. That they would see each other soon.
So even if she still longed to hold him and bask in his presence just a bit more, Arabella nodded instead.
She could wait for his return as she had always done in the past. This time, at least, she knew and was assured he would come to see her once he returned. And they even managed to be intimate before he departed.
"I’ll be waiting for you," Arabella kissed him too and smiled.
Ferdinand nodded and smiled back, "I’ll be off then."
"Oh, I’ll see you off," Arabella tightened the robe around her.
"Wearing just that?" Ferdinand raised a brow.
"It’s thick," Arabella assured him. "I can wear another outer coat just for sure."
"No. You smell too enticing right now. They would pick it up. Even my knights would lose their mind with this sweet alluring scent from you. You stay in your room and not go outside until after you bathe and clean up so that your seductive scent is covered by the soaps and oils’ fragrance," Ferdinand grounded her.
[How can I allow another man to get a whiff of this?]
’Is the scent really that strong?’ Arabella suddenly felt self-conscious when she realized Ferdinand was right.
She had been so aroused earlier and even she could smell it. Her scent had mixed with his but to them with trained senses, they might be able to differentiate.
"Right. I won’t see you off then. Please take care," Arabella said and Ferdinand nodded in approval.
"I will. You are the one who should stay safe. While I am away, do not go anywhere without Alwin or Rendell accompanying you," Ferdinand reminded.
"Yes, I will," Arabella assured him so he would have no worries while he was working.
They hugged one last time before Ferdinand left her room.
Feeling satisfied with this kind of parting, they both realized they could insert quickies during the times when they had to be apart for some time.
Their departures did not need to be sad and lonely. Instead, they could make it steamy and fun and part with smiles on their faces.
Arabella walked to her windows and opened them to freshen the air in her room.
She lay in her bed for a bit to rest her body. When the sun began to rise, she got up and finally rang her bell for her maids to come.
Eunice and the others came. They were unsure how to greet her since they knew Ferdinand went somewhere away from the capital.
Still, they concluded it was polite to still give their usual greeting.
"Greetings to Your Majesty."
"Yes, good morning," Arabella smiled.
They were surprised to see that her smile was genuine.
[Is Her Majesty not lonely that His Majesty departed with the knights again? He just returned a few days ago.]
[She doesn’t seem to be putting a brave front.]
[Is Her Majesty already used to His Majesty being away?]
Arabella let them wonder about it and instead continued with her plans from yesterday.
"Eunice, head to my study. I have a letter for my assistant Ivan settled on my table. Pick it up and deliver it to him."
"Yes, Your Majesty," Eunice obeyed and left the room.
"Carla, prepare my formal outfit. Have Eunice help you when she’s back. I’ll attend the Court Session," Arabella instructed next.
"On your own, Your Majesty?!"
Her maids were shocked.
"Yes," Arabella smiled and her maids paled.
[Would Her Majesty be alright on her own?! Most noble houses like her now. But if she went alone to the Court Sessions, what if they interpret it as His Majesty’s interests in her already waning?] Irene worried.
[What if some of the nobles begin bullying Her Majesty once His Majesty is gone?! They might just be pretending to like her when he was around!] Carla was worried as well.
[What should I do? I’m not allowed to enter the throne room. I heard the nobles can be quite nasty and two-faced especially since Her Majesty was from a foreign kingdom.]
Even Blanca, who had just begun working recently, was worried.
"I’ll be fine. His Eminence and His Excellency will be there to support me. I’m sure they will intervene in case necessary," Arabella assured her maids.
"Oh, I see..."
Her maids sighed in relief.
[Right, Her Majesty is also close with His Excellency and His Eminence.]
[I panicked a bit there and forgot about that. I’m sure they would support Her Majesty. But just in case, we should write a letter to our families.]
[Oh, right. Alwin and Great Elder Dragon Raymond would surely be there. His Majesty would not leave Her Majesty all alone.]
Arabella smiled, delighted at her maids’ support and worry for her.
They helped her bathe and brought her breakfast into her room so she could prepare much faster.
Once she was ready, she headed to her official office for her meeting with Ivan.
