Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress-Chapter 716: They Can Be Replaced
Ferdinand was used to seeing her with wobbly legs or simply laying in bed from exhaustion and falling asleep after they had sex.
Even their morning sessions usually took some time so she rested after it before doing her usual morning preparations.
But this time, they only made love for a few minutes and only came twice so Arabella still had a lot of strength left.
Seeing her still so energetic made Ferdinand feel like he had not performed as well as he thought and suddenly doubted himself.
[Did she really enjoy what we did or she simply did it to accommodate me? I was thinking we could do this before I departed every time I had to leave. But now, I wonder if it’s alright. What if she only did it to satisfy me?]
"Can’t you see, I enjoyed it too," Arabella kissed him on the cheek.
"Right," Ferdinand smiled when he recalled how eager and wet she was and how tight she wrapped around him earlier. His eyes were filled with mischief when he asked, "Does this mean we can do this again next time?"
’He’s already thinking about next time!’
"Geez. Stop thinking about that and prepare to leave. We’ll think about that when it comes," Arabella changed the topic when he once again thought about how she panicked when Zion first contacted him.
She helped fix his clothes and realized she had messed up his hair.
’Where did I throw his hair tie?’ Arabella looked around her room but could not see it.
Ferdinand always tied his hair when he went out.
’Oh, right. I still haven’t given him that,’ Arabella recalled something.
She still had a gift prepared for him which she still kept hidden in her room since she had been unsure whether she should give it or not.
Now, the need arose. She retrieved it from her drawer and showed it to him.
"I can’t find your hair tie. Can we use this instead? I had it made in Lobelius," Arabella suddenly felt shy as she offered a humble gift.
It took her a long time thinking of a gift for him since he had everything he could ever need. Thus, she opted for something practical and decided to give him something he could use and ordered for a set of usable hair ornaments.
Several pieces of hair ties were part of the set. She had asked it to be made flexible but sturdy since Ferdinand moved around a lot.
The other pieces were ones he could use with his formal attires.
"Is this a gift for me?" Ferdinand inquired.
"Yes," Arabella fidgeted nervously, worrying that it might be too insignificant for someone like him.
It was a personal gift, not something for the emperor, but she suddenly worried if he would like it or not.
"A gift? For me?" Ferdinand repeated and slowly held the box and gently caressed the items there as if they were too precious. "I don’t want to wear them."
"..." Arabella blink repeatedly at those words.
’Did he not like it?! I thought he liked it with how he gently touched them... Right, even his hair ties and ornaments are very special. Alwin said they were imbued with magic and all that. I asked Alwin to imbue these with magic as well but he refused since Ferdinand would not like a gift for him with someone else’s mana already on it. Ferdinand would imbue it with mana himself. But who would have thought he would not like it at all even without those. I should think of a better gift for him.’
Arabella felt a lump in her throat in disappointment. She did not choose a grand gift since she knew he had no need for them so she chose a practical one.
She at least hoped we would still thank her even if he did not like it that much.
Instead, he simply said he did not want to wear them. She spent a lot of time wondering what to give him. Now she would have to think of another gift.
"Okay. If you don’t like it, I’ll dispose of these," Arabella said in a low voice and closed the box again.
"What do you mean?! I love them," Ferdinand grabbed the box back from her. "I don’t want to wear them since they might get damaged. I hunt a lot so it might even get bloody. I’ll store them in my room instead so not even dust will touch it."
’Eh? That was what he meant?!’ Arabella eyed her husband and he was saying the truth.
She recalled the broken hairpin and bracelet he had asked to keep when it was supposed to be thrown away (the one from their meeting at the foot of Mt. Callion).
’Is he planning to add these to those?’
[Why would she dispose of it? This is the first gift I received from her.] 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"I’ll have these sent to my room. No take backs. You already said it’s for me," Ferdinand distanced the box from her as if she was a danger to it.
"Do you like it then?" Arabella inquired.
"Of course! How can I not like something you are giving me?" Ferdinand replied like this was the only truth in the world.
"Then wear it. I had these made so you can wear them. How would you feel if I just stored all the boxes of jewelry you gifted me and not wear a single one?" Arabella pointed out.
"I would feel like you didn’t like them," Ferdinand replied after pondering about it.
[Oh, is this why she said she would dispose of these?!] He was wide-eyed when he realized.
"I like these, Arabella! I like them very much," Ferdinand quickly explained himself. "But they might get dirty or ruined if I wear them."
"It’s okay if it gets dirty. We can have them cleaned. If it gets destroyed, I can give you a new one," Arabella promised.
"Really? You will?" Ferdinand’s eyes lit up.
