Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress-Chapter 709: Send Ivan with Them
Riva might suffer from it soon if they do not prevent it! But how would they?
The source of the disease and the carriers were not even identified yet.
Yet, that wasn’t the only problem.
"Oh my goodness! We sent some fruits and vegetables to Lobelius from each of the territories that had sent me some! Sibruh included," Arabella gasped and rose from her seat.
’What should I do?! What if the pest and diseases also spread there?! They do not have magicians to help in preventing it from spreading quickly! Did I just send them a grave problem?!’
Arabella was horrified when she thought that her wish to let her family understand Valeria better and get a taste of Valerian produce and cuisine could end up ruining the peaceful life of their people.
"Calm down. His Majesty already thought about that," Alwin said when he noticed her panic.
"Ferdinand did?!" Arabella was filled with hope when she heard that.
"Yes. His Majesty must have already seen it happen in the past so he reacted quickly once he learned that not only pests but also plant diseases had caused the losses in Sibruh."
"Then, was the produce not contaminated?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"It wasn’t. His Majesty had it investigated and found out that Marquess Sibruh had his men buy fruits and vegetables when they were close to Riva. They did not bring any of their own produce from Sibruh since the Marquess feared it would be ruined before they reached Riva since it was not stored properly right after harvests. Thus, they did bring any to the capital," ALwin explained.
"That’s a huge relief," Arabella rubbed her chest as she heaved a deep sigh.
"It was indeed," Alwin agreed.
He further explained that since the produce was already not enough for Sibruh, the Marquess and his cohorts decided against losing more food supply.
Likewise, transporting the produce from such a distance would have cost more money than when they buy some fruits and vegetables to send as gifts from a territory near Riva. Thus, the Marquess pretended that the fruits and vegetables they bought from a territory near Riva was from Sibruh.
"Marquess Sibruh also knew winter could be unpredictable and since he did not want to lose available food for his family he decided to buy food along the way even during their travels to Riva. Thus, the only supplies they brought were what they used before the next territory closest to them," Alwin added.
Due to those actions, Riva was spared from the pests and diseases that could have caused a major problem in Valeria and even Lobelius.
"I see. Thank goodness Ferdinand headed to Sibruh," Arabella sighed in relief when she heard that.
It was a huge relief that she did not cause trouble for Lobelius and other neighboring territories that could end up getting dragged into the problem.
[Ah, if her well-wishes to her homeland end up causing such a major problem, she would have ended up terrified to try anything in the future.] Alwin noted.
He was right so Arabella did not comment. She would indeed become too fearful in her actions in the future if her simple well-wishes had led to such a problem.
Thankfully, Ferdinand acted quickly when he heard the matter about the truth of the matter in Sibruh.
"Are researchers going to be sent to Sibruh?" Arabella inquired since from what she recalled the researchers were the ones who found a way to control and manage the disease.
"Yes, they have to. The magicians are busy with making barriers and preventing both entry and exit from the afflicted territories so the researchers from the Department of Agriculture will be the ones trying to find a way to manage it," Alwin explained.
[I wanted to take part too but I have to stay here and guard her. If the magicians from Fynnia suddenly come to abduct or kill her, His Majesty would be devastated.]
’Right. There was still that problem. I almost forgot about them since there had been no news about them so far. They must be trying to lay low after their failed attempt last time.’
She had to focus on the problems right in front of her for now though and that was the pest and disease in Sibruh.
"Then, I want Ivan to join them. He is an expert researcher in this field and has a lot of practical experience since childhood. I’m sure he could contribute something useful," Arabella quickly saw an opportunity for her assistant.
’This could be a great opportunity for Ivan to shine. With how good he is, I’m sure he will be able to do well.’
[Oh, that assistant of hers that even impressed His Majesty. I wanted to speak with him for some time now but our schedules contrast. He’s always busy when I have some time in my hands. He’s knowledgeable in a lot of things. I would like to work with him in the future.]
"I see. It is indeed better to send him there so all his experience and knowledge in this field would be useful," Alwin agreed.
"I will write a letter to him then."
Arabella finally relaxed a bit and went back to her seat.
She began writing a letter to summon Ivan to her office early in the morning before the Court Sessions.
’I’ll have Eunice send it to Ivan’s quarters first thing upon waking up," Arabella noted as she finished up her letter.
She folded it neatly and added her seal. Once it was ready, she placed it in a noticeable spot on her table so it would not be difficult for Eunice to find tomorrow.
’I hope I can speak with Ferdinand about this first though.’
However, Arabella did not want to disturb her husband so she did not try to contact him. They would get their chance to talk later.
After all, the sooner the problems in Sibruh and its neighboring territories are resolved, the sooner they would be able to see each other.
