Chapter 699: Chapter 699: Not Scared

Irene noticed as well and thought they simply understood each other with just their gazes.

Once they were on the way to the throne room for the Court Session, Arabella finally had the chance to speak with Ferdinand about what he did.

"You didn’t have to go that far. I could have spent some time with you before we slept," Arabella pointed out.

"But you were already exhausted," Ferdinand countered.

He explained that he knew he would still get horny if he didn’t go that far. He knew she would do her best to still do it with him even if she was already tired so he did what he did.

Ferdinand was firm about it and since he had good intentions, Arabella simply said that he could try speaking with her about it next time before doing anything.

"I would not do it with you if I’m truly too exhausted to do it. I won’t force myself so you don’t have to worry too much. I will say no if I have to," Arabella assured her husband.

Ferdinand was still worried but he nodded his head.

They then proceeded to the throne room and continued with the reports and discussions that needed updates.

The Court Session ended in half a day as scheduled so Arabella was set to visit Clarisse.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand was set to head to Sibruh and see for himself the situation there.

Due to the plans Arabella had heard from Marquess Sibruh, just as he did in Morbal, Ferdinand was set on holding the Marquess accountable and having someone from the household replace the latter if he saw someone promising.

Pest control was important in every territory so Marquess Sibruh should have reported it. After all, if the situation was bad, the neighboring territories needed to be warned in case the said pests migrated to their territory after they were done with Sibruh.

Moreover, the produce from Sibruh brought to Valeria or other territories needed to be checked rigorously to ensure that whatever pests they had to deal with in Sibruh would not be brought to other territories and cause the same problems.

"I’ll see you later then. If I’m not back before dinner, do not wait for me and eat first. You have to eat on time," Ferdinand reminded as Arabella was set to depart to Clarisse’s and Raymond’s estate.

"Yes, don’t worry. I’ll take good care of myself," Arabella quickly responded.

[Or so she says. But when I’m not around she usually works late and had to be reminded to eat several times. If her maid from Lobelius was not here, no one would be bold enough to touch her hand to get her attention when she was too focused on work and could not even hear everyone.]

Ferdinand internally complained and Arabella scratched the back of her head when she realized he was right.

"I’ll eat on time, I promise," Arabella had to raise her hand and promise so Ferdinand would believe her.

"That’s a promise then," Ferdinand grinned when he got what he wanted to hear.

"Yes, I’ll eat on time even if I have to eat alone," Arabella noted to tell Alwin to warn her of the time.

"I’ll do my best to deal with things as fast as possible so I can join you for dinner," Ferdinand kissed her on the forehead before helping her into her carriage.

Arabella kissed him on the cheek before settling down.

Alwin then arrived with Dimo.

"Greetings to Your Imperial Majesty," Dimo respectfully bowed to Ferdinand.

Only after Ferdinand told him to be at ease did Dimo step into the carriage.

"Your Majesty!" Dimo beamed brightly upon seeing Arabella.

"It’s good to see you again, Dimo," Arabella smiled back.

"Oh right," Dimo recalled to greet formally first before continuing to converse normally.

Alwin had reminded the child about it when he noticed that Arabella and Dimo were becoming too close.

Alwin debated that Dimo might forget Arabella was still the Empress of Valeria so he had to remind the child to always greet formally first or else he might slip up one day and treat her informally in front of other people.

It would be seen as utter disrespect so it was indeed important that Dimo does not forget to greet her formally first. Thus, Arabella did not tell Alwin off and let him discipline Dimo as necessary.

"Is it true that we are going to the Prime Minister’s estate?" Dimo inquired.

"Yes, His Eminence and his wife have two children. I want you to meet them since you could be playmates."

Just at those words, Dimo’s eyes brightened up.

"Really? How old are they?!"

Dimo was excited to have other kids to play with.

However, his face enthusiasm quickly turned sour when he recalled something.

[What if they do not like me too? What if they also think being able to use magic makes me a monster? What if I lose control of my magic again like I did in the past and accidentally harm them? Will I get kicked out of here? ]

"W-what if they get scared of me?" Dimo suddenly had a lot of fears to worry about because of his past experiences.

Arabella noticed his hands trembling and held them.

"It’s alright. Everyone is scared to meet new people sometimes. But as you get to know each other, you will realize something you like about the other. They might be scared of you a bit at first since you are older than them. They were scared of me at first too," Arabella assured the child.

"Eh? Why would they be scared of Your Majesty?" Dimo tilted his head as if he could not understand why.

"Were you not scared of me at all when we first met?" Arabella thought about it and Dimo was hiding behind his father’s back then before gradually opening up.

"I wasn’t scared because you looked so pretty like a fairy. I read that fairies are kind," Dimo responded.

’Haha. This kid already knows to flatter,’ Arabella internally chuckled at his words.
