She caught him staring at her again and asked, "What’s wrong?"

"N-nothing. I was just wondering if you liked the food," Ferdinand quickly said but it was easy to tell he lied.

His words made the chefs tense though, worried that they may have made a mistake and he did not like how the food tasted today which was why he was asking Arabella whether she liked it or not.

"Oh, yes. I like it. It’s delectable as usual. Is there something in it that you do not like?" Arabella wondered if Ferdinand indeed had something he might not like much in the food.

"No, it’s good. I like it too," Ferdinand responded and the chefs sighed in relief. He continued eating and he did not seem like he had any problems with the food.

’Then what’s wrong?’

Arabella wanted to ask verbally but it might make their personnel tense again so she simply continued eating and listened to her husband’s thoughts.

She stopped eating when she realized why Ferdinand kept staring at her while she was eating.

’He did not get horny when I was seducing him this morning and now he’s like this,’ Arabella internally sighed.

Ferdinand was having naughty thoughts as he watched her eat. And Arabella finally discovered why she thought he was weird last night and this morning.

[I shouldn’t have cast that spell before going to see her last night if I knew I would end up like this. But if I didn’t, I might have gotten horny with just being alone with her in her room. If she sees me aroused, she will do it with me even if she’s exhausted. I might have been unable to resist once she said we can do it...]

Ferdinand was in a long internal debate as he tried to control his urges.

He was getting horny just watching her eat because he cast a spell on himself last night so he would not get any horny thoughts or try to have sex with her.

Because he knew Arabella was exhausted and did not sleep much when they were in Lobelius, Ferdinand went to Estrella and cast the said spell on himself before returning to Riva and going to her room. He set it to stop once he was back in his room in the morning.

He got the idea from Alwin who hypnotized himself so Arabella would not be able to read his accurate thoughts.

But now, because Ferdinand used the said spell, he got his usual morning boner and had a hard time getting down which was why he went to pick her up a bit later than usual. And now he was having a hard time focusing on his food because he kept getting distracted by just a glance at her or getting a whiff of her scent despite the scent of food in the room.

’Geez. Did he really have to go that far?’ Arabella internally facepalmed.

She was touched that Ferdinand worried about her that much and was considerate enough to think of giving her time to rest.

But now, his thoughtfulness backfired since he was getting easily triggered since he forcefully stopped his urges with a spell.

’Would he be fine in the Court Session?’ Arabella began to worry since Ferdinand’s crotch would be visible there, unlike here where it was hidden under the table.

Arabella decided to speak with him telepathically so the others would not hear.

Ferdinand instantly fixed his posture when he heard her voice in his head.

[Did she hear my thoughts?!!]

His ears turned red in embarrassment as he glanced at her.

{Yes?}

His reply sounded so nervous even if it was directly in her head.

{Thank you for being considerate of me. But for now, please focus on your food. I’ll do it with you tonight. To your heart’s content. So please save it for later, can you?} 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Arabella wondered if delayed gratification would work.

[To my heart’s content?! As much as I want?!] Ferdinand was wide-eyed.

She bit herself to stop herself from chuckling at how Ferdinand visibly perked up at her words.

{Is that a promise?}

His eyes were already shining with hope as he waited for her response.

Ferdinand frowned though when he noticed that Arabella was stopping herself from laughing.

[No, she must be kidding me. We have the Court Sessions today, she will visit Clarrise after that, and then she will do some office work. She would be exhausted by then and would not have the energy for that.]

He tried to make all sorts of reasons so as not to feel disappointed that Arabella could have just said it without conviction of truly doing it.

Arabella wanted to chuckle even more but felt bad for making him wait too long before responding since he was making up all sorts of reasons. Thus, she responded.

{Geez. Don’t underestimate me too much. I’ll do it when I say it. I might not last as long as you want but I will try my best. So save such thoughts for tonight.}

Ferdinand stared at her for several seconds to see if she was serious. When she smiled at him sincerely, he gulped and finally nodded his head.

{It’s a promise then. Don’t go back on your word.}

{I won’t.}

After that, they finally continued eating and thankfully, with something to look forward to, Ferdinand was able to focus on his food.

Their maids, butlers, and chefs could only wonder what was up during the time that they stared at each other for too long. They simply concluded that their Emperor and Empress were so in love and could not get enough of each other which was why they kept giving long looks to each other.

[Just look at that. It was like they were conversing with each other just with their eyes.]

Carla thought they communicated with just their eyes.

[How sweet of them? They had gotten so close over the past months that just glances and stares and they seem to have come to some sort of understanding.]

Irene noticed as well and thought they simply understood each other with just their gazes.
