Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress-Chapter 670: Meeting Her Ancestors
The servants glanced at each other, visibly worried due to the tense atmosphere but they bowed and left. Only the Head Maid stayed with Elder Satara.
[Why does Mother look so pale? I have never seen her this intimidated by anyone before even when Lobelius was engulfed in wars. And what is with these overwhelming presences? It’s like there were more than a thousand of Mother in this room when she was still at her peak. Is this from the Emperor? Is this why Mother looks so nervous?]
Arabella’s gaze turned to the Head Maid when she heard such thoughts from her.
’Why is she calling Elder Satara as Mother? And what did she mean when Lobelius was engulfed in wars?’
As far as Arabella knew, Lobelius had not been engaged in wars for a while. And Elder Satara only had one child. It was Laurence the current Duke of Fraxinus Dukedom.
The Fraxinus Household was a branch family of the Lobelius Royal Family and their greatest supporter. Thus, Elder Satara and her household were treated as second royalty in Lobelius.
The Fraxinus Household was known to only have a few children per generation, usually just one or two. And this time, there was just one, which was Duke Laurence.
’Wait! Doesn’t this sound like the Valerian Royal Family?!’
Arabella gulped when she recalled that this was the case for Valeria. The royal family was said to have only a few children and rarely had two or more. And Arabella knew now that it was because they went back to Estrella after they had children.
’What if that was the case for the Fraxinus Household?! But wouldn’t Ferdinand or Alwin have known about it?’
Since Elder Satara was an elf, everything Arabella knew about her so far may have been a cover-up for her real identity.
Arabella was conflicted about how to feel about this since she liked the Elder she knew so far. But then, of course, she would still cherish Elder Satara no matter what she truly was. She understood that the Elder and her child had to hide their identity.
Before anyone could say something, someone hurriedly rushed into the room.
"Mother! Are you alright?! I heard you summoned me urgently," a pale-looking Duke Laurence who visibly ran here in a hurry quickly checked Elder Satara.
"I’m fine. Stop being rude and great our most esteemed guests from afar," Elder Satara chided her son who did not even notice Arabella and Ferdinand’s presence.
Duke Laurence finally turned around and flinched when he saw them and gasped, "Your Highness!"
Ferdinand frowned upon hearing such an address since it was as if the Duke did not honor Arabella’s marriage.
"Oh, my deepest apologies. I was used to your former address," Duke Laurence quickly apologized upon realizing his mistake.
"Greetings to the His and Her Imperial Majesty," Duke Laurence finally greeted them properly.
[This is Ella’s husband? He looks terrifying. He’s oozing such a powerful yet dangerous aura about him. No, he’s overflowing with mana! The two people with them are, as well. Just who are they? Are they also of the long-lived races?] Duke Laurence thought.
[They are a mix of human and elf but it seems they take after their human side more with how weak their mana is. Or have they simply used it up?] Ferdinand thought.
"I see. These two are your children," Ferdinand said as he gleaned at Duke Lawrence and the Head Maid.
Elder Satara, Duke Laurence, and the Head Maid flinched at Ferdinand’s words.
[How did he know?!!] Duke Laurence and the Head Maid glanced back and forth between Elder Stara and Ferdinand.
[Does he not care if Ella learns about it? Dragons are very well accepted by humans especially after the Great War when they witnessed how fearsome dragons could be when angered. Ella might become terrified of him if she learned the truth. I have also told her stories about good dragons but I usually talked about our kind.] Elder Satara was confused at Ferdinand’s seemingly reckless behavior.
"No need to fret. My Empress knows the truth and has accepted me," Ferdinand held Arabella’s hand and gave it a light peck.
Elder Satara, Duke Laurence, and the Head Maid blinked repeatedly as if they heard it wrong.
"Pardon?! Ella knows?" Elder Satara glanced at Arabella.
"Yes, Elder. My husband had explained to me that he is a dragon. I know of the existence of the long-lived races," Arabella said and Duke Laurence and the Head Maid gawked at Ferdinand.
"A... A dragon?!" Duke Laurence and the Head Maid exchanged glances.
"I see," Elder Satara nodded. Since her children were not aware, Elder Satara said, "Laurence, Laurencia you are in the presence of a Great Primordial. Humble yourselves."
"We deeply apologize for our rudeness. We greet the Great Primordial of Frost," Duke Laurence and the Head Maid (whom Arabella once knew by a different name but now learned was called Laurencia) bowed low to greet Ferdinand.
"This humble elf greets the Great Primordial," Elder Satara also bowed and greeted. Then, she said, "These two are my twin eldest children, Laurence and Laurencia."
"I wish to see your real appearance. Revert to how you originally looked," Ferdinand said Arabella gawked as the three changed their appearance.
"The First Queen, the Second King, and the Third Queen of Lobelius?!!" Arabella gasped when she recognized their appearance from the portraits in Lobelius Palace, except their ears were pointed and they had such gorgeous long hair that reached to below their waist.
Elder Satara looked like she was in her early thirties while her children looked like they were in their twenties. And they were all so divinely beautiful.
"Would you care to explain to us what’s going on? My Dear Empress is confused by this revelation. I thought almost all elves migrated to Estrella after the Great War. It puzzles me that someone was left behind here," Ferdinand said.
Elder Satara then explained that she chose to stay in the human realm despite receiving the offer to head to a safer place reserved only for the long-lived races.
