Leon waited for Ren Nora to explain and the General didn’t disappoint.

"More than 7 centuries ago during the Tectonic Convergence Era, the strongest Neon Beasts in the world were just F Rank Neon Beasts".

"But even then when the world was yet to learn how to manipulate ADE to become Ascended, these Neon Beasts alone brought an existential crisis".

"During the Hope Era after the remnants of humanity gained a foothold in the world and learned how to use and manipulate ADE, becoming F Rank Ascended, E Rank Neon Beasts emerged for the very first time".

"Again, the world was plunged into an existential crisis though the world was better equipped to resist it then".

"In Year 067 A.G, during the planetary civil war between Omnicore and the Synth Order, the first E Rank Ascended were born in war-time and in corresponding fashion, in the same year, the world saw the first D Rank Neon Beasts".

"The higher the Rank, the stronger and more mystical the Neon Beasts became, coming with powers that defied common sense and could potentially destroy our new world".

"Later during the Federation Era when the first D Rank Ascended were born, the world faced its very first Category 3 Beast Tide".

"It’s still seen as one of the darkest days in recorded history".

"The first Category 3 Beast Tide claimed millions of lives, and only after a great sacrifice did the Omnicore Federation manage to contain it".

"After that, Director-Prime Epsilon secretly started putting restrictions in place to hide and make access to Ascended Knowledge hard for the general public. A lot of things were hidden and restricted from the public, and this enabled the Federation to control the number of Ascended in the world".

"Despite this, the world was still forced to face its first Category 4 Beast Tide that was led by a C Rank Neon Beast".

"That disaster forced the world to unite for the first time since the Hope Era to eradicate the C Rank Neon Beast with the potential to end the world".

"After that, it became clear that the appearance of high-ranking Neon Beasts was somehow connected to the number of Ascended in the world".

"This led to even more restrictions being put on Ascended Knowledge".

"Eventually, the first C Rank Ascended were born but all the major factions in the world seemed to come to a general consensus that they could not afford to enable too many C Rank Ascended at once".

"The answer is obvious," Ren Nora leaned back on his luxurious office chair. "The world is not ready to face a Category 5 Neon Beast Tide".

He looked Leon in the eye. "After hacking through history, I believe this is the reason why the emergence of more C Rank Ascended is being suppressed and why the other factions are being neutral about the Federation’s deliberate suppression".

"As for why the Synth Order helped me in a subtle manner, I believe it’s because as much as they didn’t want another C Rank Ascended, they still wanted the first ’Glitch’ in the world to be born".

"They wanted another power to counter and check the Federation’s growth".

"Despite the fact that it’s been centuries since the civil war, the Omnicore Federation and the Synth Order are still fighting a quiet civil war, and the Synths would not ignore any opportunity to weaken their enemy’s influence and power".

"They must have believed that 1 more C Rank Ascended would not be enough to break the delicate balance of the high-ranking Neon Beasts".

"A B Rank Neon Beast is yet to be born in the Abyssal Scar based on what we know, and the world wants to keep it that way".

When Ren Nora was done explaining, Leon was stunned.

This explained a whole lot of things to him, it explained why the Geneforge Clans and the Synth Order didn’t directly interfere with the battle of Iron Reef.

At the same time, he had even more questions in his mind.

He looked at Ren Nora and blurted out. "What is the exact relationship between ADE, the Ascended Trials, and Neon Beasts?"

Ren Nora shrugged. "On that aspect, I’m just as clueless as you are".

"Even with Primordial Hacking, I don’t know it all. There are certain mysteries of this world that are obscured by thick veils that even I can’t break open yet".

"I can only take it one step at a time".

Hearing that, Leon looked Ren Nora in the eyes and asked. "Are you stopping here?"

"What do you mean?"

"Are you satisfied with your current level of power? Don’t you intend to take another step and become a B Rank Ascended?"

Ren Nora smiled. "I’ve thought about that question a lot in the past 131 years and I still don’t have a clear answer".

"On one hand, I know I’m ready to challenge another Trial, but on another hand I know that the other leaders of this world won’t stand and watch quietly while I attempt a B Rank Trial".

"The ADE commotion that would be caused by such an attempt cannot be hidden with ADE dampeners like I did during my C Rank Trial".

"I don’t believe even the Synth Order has dampeners of that level yet".

"It cannot be hidden and the commotion caused by such an attempt alone may be what causes the world’s first Category 5 Neon Beast Tide".

"I’ll essentially be dooming the world, so honestly I’m still undecided".

"Besides, if I ever try something like that, the other leaders of the world will come together to kill me long before the commotion becomes unsalvageable".

Leon’s black eyes gleamed as he leaned back on the lounge chair. "The Ascended system is even more complicated than I thought".

"The world is governed by so many crazy rules that I begin to wonder where the origin of it all came from and whether if it was all by design".

"Where did the first Class Knowledge come from?"

"Did people just make it up?"

"Who or what governs Ascended Trials?"

Leon didn’t need to look at Ren Nora, he knew that the General also didn’t have the answers to these questions.

Eventually, he looked at Ren Nora again and said. "Unfortunately, I don’t intend to stop at D Rank".

He forced a grim smile. "I can’t afford to stop, I don’t intend to stop and I won’t stop. I’m hell-bent on becoming the 9th C Rank Ascended of this world".

He looked the General in the eye and asked. "Will you support me?"
