"Can Ascended change Class Specializations?"
"No". Ren Nora answered immediately.
"From what I know, no D Rank Ascended or C Rank Ascended have ever been able to change their Class Specializations after choosing one".
Leon nodded thoughtfully. "Is this answer empirically backed or it’s because no one has ever tried?"
Ren Nora raised his right hand and swirled his long silver hair playfully with his fingers. "Empirically? Can something like that even be experimented?" He asked rhetorically before explaining.
"Like I said, the only being in this world who can actively resist my Primordial Hacking is Director-Prime Epsilon. Beside him, I know the origin and the history of every other C Rank Ascended in the world like the back of my hand".
"None of them have ever tried to change Class Specializations, but I can’t say the same when it comes to Epsilon because most of his life is still a riddle to me".
"I can’t get a read on him".
"As for the possibility of changing Class Specializations being possible," he looked at Leon. "You’re a D Rank Ascended now so you should know what I mean, you should know from your own experience of getting your Class Specialization".
Leon was puzzled but he didn’t show it as he let Ren Nora explain.
The General didn’t disappoint. "Like you experienced and like I experienced, and just like every other D Rank Ascended in the world experienced, we don’t really have conscious control when choosing Class Specializations".
"Our soul chooses for us".
"After the Trial, the soul instinctively drifts towards the Class Specialization that is more compatible with you. This is also why nobody in the world besides you and Kai knows the extent of my powers as the ’Glitch’."
Leon’s eyelids twitched slightly as he struggled very hard to prevent himself from frowning.
’Wait, does this mean Ascended don’t consciously choose their Class Specializations at D Rank?’

His eyes narrowed slightly. ’Does that also mean being conscious and having the choice to choose freely was another benefit of the ChronoSystem?’
Leon was stunned.
The more truths he learned about this world, ADE, and the Ascended Trials, the more he realized the importance of the ChronoSystem in his growth.
’What would my soul have chosen if I didn’t make the conscious decision after thinking, analyzing and comparing the 3 Class Specializations?’
’With my genuine curiosity for engineering and tech, I’m guessing my soul would have chosen the Technician Specialization right?’
"This is why I strongly believe that it is impossible to change Class Specializations". Ren Nora continued.
"Maybe if in the future we gain more autonomy during Class promotions, this can become a possibility but for now, the answer is no".
Leon finally snapped out of his reverie as he looked at Ren Nora. "Yeah, you’re right". He nodded.
He took a deep breath to digest the revelation that he just made, then he looked at Ren Nora again. "When you were telling me about the history of the world, you called yourself an Omnicore rebel".
"I couldn’t help but catch on to the way you said it, were you trying to imply that you grew up in the territory of the Omnicore Federation?"
Ren Nora chuckled. "It’s really nice discussing with intelligent people, talking with you really tickles certain parts of my brain".
He exhaled. "Well, yes, I did grew up in Omnicore territory. My father was born in a Town at the outskirts of Neo-Solace, a Town called Westhallow".
"Most of the people in Westhallow are Hunters. They’re not all Ascended, but they’ve all learned ancient techniques to hunt F Rank Neon Beasts and even E Rank Neon Beasts in groups".
"Growing up in such a Town where people cared little about education, my father resisted peer pressure and decided to live a different life".
"He worked hard and sponsored himself to school in Neo-Solace and later became the first home-grown teacher in Westhallow".
"Though he was looked down on by his peers and fellow townsfolk, he endured because he loved his life as a teacher".
"He got married to my mom and educated her at home, teaching her and making her good enough to take the exam and pass to also become a teacher".
"That was when I was born".
"I grew up with both my parents being teachers. I admired them and for a time, I also wanted to break the mold and be a teacher," he smiled. "That was until they both died in a supposedly peaceful protest in Neo-Solace requesting for a higher minimum wage salary".
"Omnicore soldiers opened fire on the protesters, killing over 100 teachers, and both my parents were part of them".
Ren Nora laughed. "After that, I left the delusion of wanting to become a teacher behind with the memory of my parents".
"From that day, I wanted to become a Hunter".
"I wanted to become the strongest Hunter in the world, a Hunter so strong that the people I love and care for cannot be killed because of a simple protest anymore. I wanted to become strong enough to protect".
"I wanted to become strong enough for enemies to hesitate before deciding to attack people who are close to me".
"That was what led to my career as a freedom fighter," he shrugged and chuckled. "Inspiring, right?"
Leon scoffed at how he still managed to boast with such an emotional story, but then after a few seconds he said. "I’m sorry for your parents".
Ren Nora nodded calmly in acknowledgement.
Silence reigned between them for a few seconds, then Leon broke it again as he asked. "Do you know why Epsilon doesn’t want more C Rank Ascended to rise up in the world?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Ren Nora immediately scoffed. "I know. It’s because he’s a selfish bastard, a coward who’s afraid of powerful Ascended rising to challenge his Empire and make it crumble".
"Well, that was my hate answer". He chuckled. "If it was truly so, he would have suppressed the rest of the world while grooming more C Rank Ascended within the Omnicore Federation".
"The Synth Order does not respect him. Heck, they absolutely hate him".
"Just to defy him, they would have gone against him to develop other C Rank Ascended but they’ve not over the centuries, and this is why I believe that the suppression of C Rank Ascended is because of a different reason".
Ren Nora crossed his legs again. "I believe it’s because of Neon Beasts, precisely the Abyssal Scar".
