Leon slept for 18 straight hours.

By the time he woke up, it was a new day but it wasn’t morning, it was already night of the new day.

Leon slept for most of the night, and then for the whole day.

When he woke up, he felt refreshed.

All the mental juice that he’d used up during the past 3 weeks constructing non-stop and resting only intermittently in between was now mostly recovered, even 18 hours of sleep was not enough for him to fully recover.

After Leon woke up, the first thing he felt was hunger.

His stomach protested angrily and left with no choice, he took the Karaki CT-3X superbike and drove straight towards Community G, precisely Gary and Mary’s restaurant to have a proper and sumptuous meal.

The sound of cutlery echoed in the slightly rowdy restaurant as Leon dug into his food while hiding his face with a hood.

After waking up from his Trial the first time after becoming a D Rank Mechanist, when he rushed to this restaurant to eat, he was forced to learn a lesson fast that his life was destined to no longer be the same.

He was a celebrity now.

Apparently, Daren competed in the finals of the Gene Combat Sports Tournament as an E Rank Cyber Gladiator.

This told Leon that just like Talia, he probably completed his E Rank Ascended Trial within just a few hours.

Once again, this told him just how abnormal his Trial was.

The reason for his fame was that he was related to Daren after CCTV cameras captured them together multiple times in Leviathan Quay, and after becoming an E Rank Cyber Gladiator, Daren literally went all the way in the tournament, finishing as the 5th best combatant out of the 10,000 that reached the final!

This was monumental!

Daren made it to the final podium.

Every year, the combatants that make it to the top 10 become full-blown celebrities or mini celebrities, and despite the disaster in Leviathan Quay sometime prior, this didn’t affect the viewership of the combat tournament at all.

Instead, for some reason, the viewership increased.

And by performing in such a convincing manner in the headquarters of the Geneforge Clans, Daren didn’t just become famous, he dragged Leon alongside as for a long time, the name #Thomas Riley began trending again in the territories and internet of the Geneforge Clans.

After that experience when he first came back to Gary and Mary’s restaurant and he was swarmed by fans, Leon either went there expecting such service to bask in their attention or he went there on disguise, like tonight.

Nobody recognized him except the couple who had once fought alongside him.

And soon, they both came and sat opposite him.

Despite the fact that it was already 3 weeks since they learned the truth, Gary still couldn’t help it as he looked at Leon with a complicated look in his eyes.

He still couldn’t believe that Leon was a D Rank Mechanist now.

The rest of the world may not know the truth but as one of the OGs in Community G who met Leon as a weak F Rank Mechanist, this F Rank Cyber Gladiator still couldn’t believe the tale of his rise.

’How can anyone rise from F Rank to D Rank within just a few months?’

Even without Gary saying anything, Leon knew what he was thinking about immediately after he saw the look on his face.

He chuckled. "You’re still thinking about how unbelievable my rise is?"

"Who wouldn’t?" Gary retorted in a defensive manner. "I mean, it’s just incredible. Dammit, it’s literally impossible!"

"I’ve been stuck at F Rank all my life". He lamented.

"It’s just because you didn’t have the courage to attempt the E Rank Trial". Leon calmly retorted with a smile.

"That’s because of my wi...!" Gary wisely stopped himself at the last moment as he turned to look at his wife who was calmly looking at him, but it was that calmness that terrified him.

He chuckled awkwardly. "Haha..."

He looked at Leon again, still feeling Mary’s gaze on him. "You know, when you told me the first time, that sh*t truly left me feeling inspired and motivated!"

"I felt young and wild again for the first time in a long time, and I really wanted to attempt the E Rank Trial," he chuckled and looked at Mary. "But thankfully, my beautiful wife was there in time to tell me otherwise".

"I mean, we’ve retired right?" He laughed. "Retired people have no reason attempting a Trial, right?"

Seeing the look on his face, Leon pitied him. ’Is this the price of marriage?’ Once again, he felt like running across the world just to stay away from Tyla.

Looking at Gary, he chuckled. "Yeah, yeah, you’re right". He grinned. "Retired people should stay retired and cooking in restaurants".

Gary’s face immediately twisted. "What did you say?"

Leon blinked. "I mean, it’s what you love doing right, cooking and selling food in your restaurant?"

Gary gnashed his teeth and was about to flare up again when he felt Mary’s calm gaze from beside him.

He coughed and nearly choked on his own saliva. "Ahem... ummm, aha, you’re right!" He grinned, flashing a fake smile on his face.

Leon alternated his gaze between him, Mary, and then him again, then he chuckled. ’At this rate, I won’t even be surprised if I hear someday that Gary ran from home to pursue power again’.

He leaned back on his chair sipping on a glass of soft beverage. ’But I feel that he loves her too much to run,’ he added in his mind.

’He loves her more than his quest for power’.

His current situation with Tyla reminded him of the couple, and this made him develop the habit of self-inserting himself with Gary.

He thought quietly. ’Will I be able to love Tyla more than my quest for power if I decide to truly accept her?’

He blinked, then he quietly shook his head. ’Nah’.

’Not when I’m yet to recover my memories’.

Leon returned to his shelter, then he began sorting out his mechanic constructs for travel.
