Reborn as a Landlord-Chapter 1449 - 737: Easy to Invite Deities, Hard to Send Them Away (Part 2)

Following Lian Shouyi into the room were Lady He, Si Lang, and Liulang, all looking as if they’d just crawled out of bed.

"Oh my, what’s happening here?" Lian Shouyi exclaimed loudly as he entered the room, not stepping forward to intervene, but instead standing still in shock. "Isn’t this supposed to be a match meeting? How did it turn into a fight? I can’t even tell who’s who. Who’s the one set up for my elder brother?"

Old Master Lian nearly spat blood.

Old Master Lian was well aware that Lian Shouyi’s family hadn’t slept at all. They heard the ruckus in the Upper Room yet none of them came to check. When Lady Chiang went to call them, they dragged their feet before arriving. Now here they are, instead of helping, they’re standing idly by making sarcastic remarks.

But right now, Lian Shouyi was needed, so Old Master Lian had to swallow his anger. Because he knew if he lashed out at Lian Shouyi, Lian Shouyi would definitely leave him hanging. Lian Shouyi was not like Lian Shouxin, who was considerate and took the bigger picture into account.

"Second child, quickly, pull that lunatic away," Old Master Lian urgently said to Lian Shouyi.

"She nearly beat your father, see how she beat up your elder brother," Lady Zhou, pale with fright, hiding behind Old Master Lian, also peered out to gesture and speak.

"What are you waiting for? Letting people come to your doorstep and beat you up is not the least bit respectable," Old Master Lian said again seeing that Lian Shouyi still hadn’t moved.

Lian Shouyi seemed to have watched long enough and, while rolling up his sleeves, called to Lady He, Si Lang, and Liulang to move forward. Zhou Daniu, having fought for quite some time, was exhausted, and combined with Lian Shouyi and the others, she was no match for so many and was quickly pinned to the ground.

"Don’t spare me, just beat me to death," Zhou Daniu, pinned on the ground, continued to struggle forcefully.

"Oh my, this is the wife arranged from far away for my elder brother. She’s a wild demon, or crazy," Lian Shouyi said carelessly.

Even though Zhou Daniu was restrained, the room was still in chaos, with the injured ones groaning in pain, while Old Master Lian and Lady Zhou were urgently calling Lian Shouren to their side.

No one noticed someone sneaking out from the corner of the room by the kang. It was the Wife of Woo Ergou. As soon as the fight broke out, she hid. Originally, she intended to escape outside, but with the brawling blocking her path, she had no choice and feared getting caught in the crossfire, so she hid in the corner.

Now seeing everyone stopping, she took the chance to slip outside in the chaos. She knew in her heart that with things reaching this point, she wouldn’t gain any benefit by staying and it would do her no good.

Slowly inching towards the door, just as the Wife of Woo Ergou was about to step out, Lady Zhou spotted her.

"Isn’t that Er Gou’s Wife? Where’re you going?" Lady Zhou’s voice was quite unfriendly.

The Wife of Woo Ergou had to turn around and smile ingratiatingly at Lady Zhou and the others.

"I’m, I’m, I’m going to..." she mumbled something and quickly retreated outside.

Once out the door of the east room, the Wife of Woo Ergou didn’t dare linger, swiftly making her way to the Lian Family Old Mansion’s main gate. The two big doors were tightly shut but not barred. She quickly pulled the door ajar, slipped out and left.

Once outside the Lian family’s gate, she let out a long breath. What happens next depends on how Woo Er Gou and Woo San Gou handle it. She couldn’t help, and staying would only be detrimental to the Woo Family. Skirting the wood pile outside the old mansion, she was relieved at her successful escape, unaware of a shadow quietly emerging from behind the pile.

The shadow was tall and slender, gripping tightly to a stick the thickness of a club, which was actually the door bar from the old mansion. The shadow walked up behind her, and before she could turn around, the stick was swept against her waist.

The Wife of Woo Ergou, already frail, felt as if her waist was broken by this blow, she screamed and stumbled forward, collapsing. The shadow then struck her twice more with the bar until she seemed to have passed out, then quietly slipped back inside the old mansion’s gate.

At that moment inside the Upper Room, most of the redness had faded from Zhou Daniu’s eyes. With her father pulling her, she knelt in front of Old Master Lian, kowtowing and pleading.

Old Master Lian, still shaken, felt his emotions were a chaotic mix. He didn’t want to look at Old Master Zhou and Zhou Daniu, repeatedly urging Woo Ergou and Woo San Gou to take her away.

"You two no-good rascals, haven’t you caused me enough trouble? I foolishly thought you’d finally grown a conscience, turned into decent people... quickly take her away," Old Master Lian scolded.

Both Woo Ergou and Woo San Gou were now bruised and swollen. The Wife of Woo Ergou had slipped away, and they were too conspicuous to escape. Now being rebuked by Old Master Lian, the brothers immediately protested their innocence, swearing that what they’d told Old Master Lian was the truth, and they didn’t know Zhou Daniu was like this.

"A few years ago, she was perfectly normal when we met."

Old Master Lian spoke sternly to the Woo Family Brothers, but was gentle-faced to Old Master Zhou. However, as the saying goes, inviting a deity in is easy, sending them away is not; Old Master Zhou wasn’t causing a fuss, rather he was weeping and kowtowing, pleading for Zhou Daniu to stay.

"This child is usually fine, I don’t know what got into her just now. She can work, she’s worth two workers, Old Master, you have enough to provide her with a bowl of rice."

"This isn’t about a bowl of rice," Old Master Lian said helplessly, but firmly refused to keep Zhou Daniu.
