Chapter 1213: Chapter 618: Are We Still Eating or Not? (Part 2)

Lady Zhou and Lian Yeye had different expectations of Lian Shouli. To Lady Zhou, if Lian Shouli didn’t support her, it meant he was heartless and had wronged her greatly. In Lian Yeye’s view, as long as Lian Shouli didn’t come to hit or scold her, even if he said a few words of reproach, she felt he was defending her. And now, Lian Shouli couldn’t even bear to say a word of reproach to her.

To Lian Yeye, Lian Shouli’s attitude was excellent and encouraging.

"I, the old one who refuses to die. Why haven’t I died yet?" Lady Zhou began to wail, "I, the wretched one, trekked all this way. For what? To be humiliated and driven out by a little brat. I, the wretched one, why am I still alive? Everyone has lost their conscience, deserving a bad end."

"I’ll leave, I shouldn’t have come." Lady Zhou wiped her tears and headed out, "Shameless, my dear son I raised, why don’t I just drop dead with a crunch, and everyone would rejoice..."

Lady Zhou was harsh in cursing others and equally even when cursing herself. Of course, she wasn’t sincerely cursing herself. This was her old trick; by cursing so harshly, not sure about other sons, but certainly Lian Shouli and Lian Shouxin wouldn’t be able to bear it and would come over to concede, so she could have the upper hand then.

However, this time, Lady Zhou’s plan was destined to fail. Lian Shouli still squatted by the wall, and Lian Shouxin had gone over, bending over to persuade Lian Shouli. These two brothers seemed not to have heard anything she said.

Lady Zhou paused with one foot on the threshold.

"Why cause a fuss over something good?" Old Master Lian’s voice came from behind Lady Zhou, "Quick, help your mother back."

Soon, Lady Zhou’s arms were supported by others.

Lady Zhou turned to look, and the bit of hope that had just ignited in her heart instantly turned to ash. The ones who came to support her were Lady Chiang and Lian Jizu.

Not to mention Lian Shouli and Lian Shouxin, even Lady Zhang and the others didn’t step up.

"Old child, young child, let’s not say more. Let it go, let it go." Old Master Lian waved his hand and said loudly, "Today is a great day for Old Three’s family, let’s continue what we were doing."

"Old Fourth’s wife, see if the food is ready. If it is, quickly set the table. Is there any wine? We, the gentlemen here, haven’t been together for days, let’s have a drink or two." Old Master Lian called out to Lady Zhang.

Old Master Lian was trying his best to gloss over things, asking Lady Zhang to prepare the meal to divert from the commotion just before.

Lady Zhang responded and turned to go to the outer room.

Lian Jizu and Lady Chiang supported Lady Zhou back, ready to help her onto the kang. Lady Zhou placed her hands on the kang, pretending to get on, but her eyes darted towards Lian Shouli, Lian Shouxin, then scanned over Lian Yeye, Lian Manman, and the other kids one by one.

"Grandma, get on the kang." Lian Jizu urged.

"Get on the damned kang." Lady Zhou suddenly erupted in anger again, turned around, pushed away Lian Jizu and Lady Chiang’s hands, and started walking out again. "Can’t you see they aren’t even looking at us? Getting on the kang to eat, what’s there to eat? With food slipping down the spine. Without this meal, I would starve to death. Starve to death than eat this meal made with hateful gaze."

Lady Zhou’s outburst happened for a reason. She felt that by turning back, she had greatly wronged herself and had given way to Lian Shouli. Yet Lian Shouli, Lian Yeye, seemed ungrateful, not to mention coming over to make amends; they didn’t even plan to pay attention to her.

Even Lian Shouxin, and those children of Lian Manman, they all had indifferent attitudes, none came over to speak kindly or coax her.

Lady Zhou felt immensely wronged, and it was her own biological son and her sons’ children causing this grievance. This was truly intolerable!

"You, spineless lot, who’s the son, and who’s the father? Just for a couple of drinks, acting like this, look at your lowly appearance." Lady Zhou spat toward Old Master Lian at the door, then without hesitation stepped over the threshold.

"I’ll swear, if I ever shamelessly come back here, may sores grow on the soles of my feet, just slap me on my face." Lady Zhou, reaching the outer room, saw Lady Zhang and Lady Zhao cooking and cursed them viciously before heading straight out.

Lady Zhao trembled like a sieve, seemingly unable to stand, naturally did not step up to stop Lady Zhou. Lady Zhang appeared somewhat dazed and stood still.

Lady Chiang, Lian Jizu, Lian Shouren, Lian Shouyi, and others followed her out one after another, but no one could persuade Lady Zhou.

Lady Zhou, a small-footed elderly lady, had never ventured out alone, not even in the village before. She called Lady Chiang and Lian Jizu to each side to support her back to the old house.

Lian Shouren and Lian Shouyi didn’t leave; they both looked at Old Master Lian.

Old Master Lian was also in a dilemma, with things turning out like this, could this meal still happen, should it happen?
