Rebirth: The New Bride Wants A Divorce-Chapter 586: Surrender
"I always knew she was hiding something," Kathrine said through clenched teeth. "But I never imagined she would stoop this low. Poisoning Dad just to stop him from reaching the truth."
She was trembling with rage, trying desperately to steady herself.
Never in her life had she imagined Roseline would become the thorn in their garden. Someone who would not hesitate to wound them the moment things stopped going her way.
And that was exactly what had happened to Hugo.
Roseline might claim she loved him, but when the moment came, she did not hesitate to harm the very man who had once helped her.
Kathrine’s anger deepened as she recalled what Ben had told them earlier. That one detail had brought the truth into the light.
Hugo had wanted to search for George’s family. But before he could reach them, Roseline panicked and played a dirty game none of them had ever imagined.
"How can someone be so cruel?" Kathrine continued, her voice trembling. "How can she not even consider someone’s life? What would have happened if Dad hadn’t been rushed to the hospital on time? What if he..."
Her voice broke.
She could not bring herself to finish the thought.
Anna, who stood beside her, remained silent.
For a long time she had stopped hoping that her mother would ever repent for the damage she had caused to everyone around them. Sometimes Anna even wondered whether there could be a place in heaven for someone like her.
After a moment of heavy silence, Anna finally spoke.
"She knew nothing would happen to Dad," she said quietly. "She made sure of it."
Kathrine frowned slightly, looking at her.
"But don’t you find it strange, Kathrine?" Anna continued. "Why would Mom stop Dad from finding George’s family?"
Kathrine fell silent.
"Because she knows them."
Kathrine’s eyes widened in shock as Anna met her gaze and gave a small nod.
They both knew how Roseline and Hugo had once ensured that Norma and Daniel were forced out of the country, ruining their lives to the point that they had no choice but to leave.
Yet despite everything they knew, something still felt wrong.
It increasingly felt as if Hugo had never truly been part of that scheme.
As though everything had been orchestrated by Roseline alone.
Every layer of truth they uncovered seemed to lead back to one person.
Roseline.
She was the only one who stood at the center of it all.
"I really don’t know what to believe anymore," Kathrine said helplessly as she walked toward the couch and sank into it. "Everything feels so messy."
"It all started the moment Roseline came into our lives."
Her voice was filled with bitterness.
Anna remained quiet.
No matter what, Roseline was still her mother. But the cruel games she had been playing for years had long drained any sympathy Anna might have once felt.
She had already lost hope that Roseline would ever change.
There would be no apology. No redemption.
Because the woman who gave birth to her was nothing more than someone who cared only for herself.
Kathrine had no idea how long she had sat with Anna in silence. Neither of them spoke much, but the quiet presence was enough.
All she wanted was to be beside someone who understood the weight of her frustration, someone she could share the burden with without needing to explain every feeling.
Anna had been that person.
But after leaving, Kathrine realized something important.
She could not remain silent for long.
Anna was already carrying too much on her shoulders, and Kathrine did not want to add more by revealing how determined she was to expose Roseline.
Still, she knew one thing for certain.
They could no longer afford to wait.
If they truly wanted to uncover the truth, they would have to move faster.
Kathrine wasted no time and made a call to Doctor Jason.
"I want to book an appointment," she said as her eyes turned firm and her words final.

[Collin’s Hideout]
Inside the abandoned warehouse that Collin had turned into his temporary hideout, the man paced slowly across the dusty floor, his mind tangled in restless thoughts.
Ever since his last meeting with Roseline, he had been trying to stay calm.
But no matter how much he replayed her words in his mind, he simply could not believe them.
Roseline had sounded confident. Too confident.
According to her, everything was under control. Norma would eventually convince Daniel to withdraw the case, and once that happened, all the chaos surrounding them would quietly disappear.
Collin scoffed under his breath.
"Under control..."
He knew Norma far better than Roseline ever did.
Norma was not a woman who would back down so easily. If anything, the more someone tried to corner her, the more vicious she became.
Underestimating her was the worst mistake anyone could make.
And Collin had no intention of making that mistake.
Especially when he still had not secured the shares that were under Norma’s name.
His eyes darkened as another thought crossed his mind.
Roseline believed he was working with her to secure those shares. She believed his entire plan revolved around taking Norma down and claiming her wealth before eliminating her.
Collin smirked faintly.
That had always been the lie.
The truth was far simpler.
He knew very well that seizing Norma’s wealth was not something he could accomplish easily. She was too cautious and far too clever to lose everything in one move.
But there was something far more valuable than her shares.
The money she had already paid him.
Norma had given him a large sum to stay on her side, believing he was helping her quietly destroy Roseline and Hugo from the shadows.
And Collin had happily taken it.
If things went the way he planned, that money alone would be enough to drag both Roseline and Hugo into ruin.
Then he would disappear.
A clean escape.
No loyalty. No attachments.
Just survival.
But now Roseline had complicated everything.
Her reckless move to poison Hugo had created a storm that was spinning far too quickly.
Collin rubbed his temples in frustration.
"Just what in the world is that woman thinking?" he muttered under his breath.
He tried to steady his racing thoughts, but the tension in his chest refused to ease.
Then suddenly—
SCREECH.
The sharp sound of tires echoed outside the warehouse.
Collin froze.
His head snapped toward the door.
For a moment he stayed completely still, listening.
Another vehicle.
Then another.
The faint murmur of voices.
Collin’s eyes narrowed.
Slowly, cautiously, he moved toward the door and leaned toward the peephole.
The moment he looked outside, his entire body went rigid.
Police cars.
Several of them.
Officers were already spreading around the building, surrounding the warehouse from every direction.
Collin stumbled backward as if someone had punched him in the chest.
"What the—"
Before he could even process what he was seeing, a loud voice echoed from outside.
"Collin Ford!"
The booming announcement made his heart skip violently.
"You are surrounded from all directions. We know you are inside. Do not attempt to escape!"
Officer Clement.
Collin recognized the voice instantly.
Cold sweat broke across his forehead.
"H... how did they find me?" he whispered hoarsely.
His breathing became uneven as he rushed back to the door and peeked through the peephole again.
More officers were positioning themselves around the building.
There was no doubt now.
They were here for him.
Collin’s face turned pale.
He had been extremely careful when choosing this hideout. No one should have known about it.
No one except...
His mind immediately jumped to two names.
Norma.
Roseline.
A dark fury flashed in his eyes.
"Damn it... which one of you did this?" he hissed. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
For a moment, rage burned through him so strongly that he wanted nothing more than to strangle both women with his bare hands.
But anger would not help him now.
Right now, survival mattered more.
Collin forced himself to think.
His sharp eyes scanned the warehouse quickly.
The place was large but mostly empty. Rusted metal shelves lined the walls, and a few wooden crates were stacked near the corners.
He had chosen the abandoned building precisely because it was isolated.
But that advantage had now become a trap.
Escaping would not be easy.
Not when the entire building was surrounded.
Collin moved toward the back of the warehouse, his mind racing as he searched for any possible exit.
There was a back door.
But if the police had already circled the building, they would be waiting there.
There were also broken windows along the side wall.
Too small.
Too exposed.
The moment he tried climbing out, he would be spotted.
His breathing grew heavier.
"What should I do..." he muttered under his breath.
Surrender?
The thought alone made his stomach twist.
If he was arrested now, everything would fall apart.
Every plan.
Every escape route.
Gone.
But trying to run could be even worse.
One wrong move and the police would shoot without hesitation.
Outside, Officer Clement’s voice rang out again through a loudspeaker.
"Collin Ford! This is your final warning. Step out with your hands raised!"
Collin clenched his fists.
His heart pounded violently in his chest as he stood in the center of the warehouse, staring at the rusted exit door.
Run...
Or surrender.
For the first time in a long while, Collin Ford found himself trapped in a dilemma he had no clear way out of.
