Rebirth: She is Ready for a Counterattack!-Chapter 305 - 304: Willful
"Wei Ziyun" used his chopsticks to poke at the lobster in the bowl and then threw the chopsticks onto the table with a snap.
Everyone who had been chatting enthusiastically stopped talking and looked in that direction at once.
"Wei Ziyun" had a spoiled, willful look on his face. His disdainful gaze focused on the unwanted food in the bowl, making Wei Ziqing, who was still holding onto his chopsticks without having retrieved them, want to crawl into a hole.
Annoyed, thinking to himself, how could I be so stupid, knowing this mischief-maker isn’t a good person? Why would I think this young lady could be coaxed into giving a smile?
I was really naive.
How could this young lady be so easy to please?
After suffering so many times, how can I still believe this Wei Ziyun is the real Wei Ziyun, not someone who can be easily appeased?
No sympathy for her either.
General Wei’s sharp gaze shot toward Wei Ziqing. Wei Ziqing’s hand trembled and the chopsticks fell with a clatter. He quickly explained, "Grandfather, I just saw that Yan Zi is so thin and thought of giving her some extra food, not expecting that she wouldn’t like it. I thought she usually likes lobsters the most. But I didn’t think..."
He sheepishly couldn’t continue, wondering how to admit he had flattered the wrong person.
General Wei’s gaze landed on the bowl and saw the piece of lobster ball, instantly understanding, "Waiter, change the bowl and chopsticks."
He issued the order sternly, and the waiter promptly replaced the bowl and chopsticks in front of Gu Xiaoqing.
Lowering his tone, he said kindly to "Wei Ziyun," "Yan Zi, alright, don’t get angry. Your sister meant well. Even if you have a cleanliness obsession, you should speak nicely so that people are not confused."
This explained "Wei Ziyun’s" actions.
"Wei Ziyun" let out an oh, but couldn’t hide the arrogance and disdain for Wei Ziqing on his face. He picked up the chopsticks and placed a serving of greens in General Wei’s bowl, saying fawningly, "Grandfather, this is the vegetable you like. You should have some too. You can’t have braised pork; you need to watch your blood sugar and lipids. Vegetables are better, they’re good for you."
General Wei looked helplessly at the dish in his bowl, forced to grit his teeth and eat the vegetables.
Wei Ziqing and the others all widened their eyes, knowing how much the old man disliked greens. He practically treated them as enemies at the sight of them, and now, because of a few words from Wei Ziyun, he ate them. It couldn’t help but amaze people.
They all knew how much the old man doted on Wei Ziyun, but this love hadn’t reached the point where Wei Ziyun could do as she pleased.
But now, Wei Ziyun acted and spoke this way, and the old man obeyed everything without question.
It’s simply incredible.
Who can truly understand the frustration in General Wei’s heart?
This "Wei Ziyun" is simply his nemesis.
It was clear to him that he needed to act as if everything was normal, yet this opportunity was used to give him grief.
The debt to Wei Ziyun.
General Wei smiled bitterly and forced down the last bite of green vegetables, not having eaten such a large portion of vegetables—particularly these green ones—in years, truth be told, he really didn’t like the taste at all.
"Grandfather, are you feeling okay? If you really can’t eat it, just spit it out!"
Wei Ziqing, seeing the old man looking bitter, tried to persuade him, also hoping the old man would actually spit it out, to give Wei Ziyun a reality check.
General Wei took a couple of big chews and forced them down.
"What are you talking about, Wei Ziqing? Grandfather is eating very happily, without any discomfort. Don’t talk nonsense."
"Wei Ziyun" glanced at Wei Ziqing and defiantly added another serving of spinach to General Wei’s bowl, completely resembling a dutiful granddaughter.
General Wei looked troubled at the vegetables in his bowl, really wanting to put down his chopsticks, but after glancing at Fang Shaohan who was watching him tensely, he quietly ate them.
And so, the meal ended under such strange circumstances, the old man silently eating green vegetables bite by bite, "Wei Ziyun" devouring the braised pork, roast chicken, and duck, while the people around silently ate what was in front of them.
The originally cheerful atmosphere had long been dispelled by this bizarre ambiance.
But this meal certainly didn’t end well.
Because someone knocked on the door and came in.
"Mr. Wei, I heard you were out dining, and since I was in the room across from yours, I thought I’d come to see you." A few men in suits came in to greet General Wei.
General Wei immediately stood up, smiling as he chatted with the newcomers, "Xiao Yuan, Xiao Wang, Xiao Feng, are you all dining here too? I’m old, wanting to enjoy family time, so I brought everyone out."
The biggest of them, Xiao Yuan, though appearing in his forties, with jet-black hair, spoke elegantly, exuding a refined official air. His keen, pointed look made it seem like he was smiling, yet his expression was full of sharpness.
While speaking to General Wei, his gaze discreetly assessed the seat next to General Wei, recognizing Wei Hanjian and exchanged small talk, presumably familiar but whether they were foes, Gu Xiaoqing couldn’t be sure.
The man’s gaze skimmed over her briefly, but that meaningful look sent chills over Gu Xiaoqing. That predatory glance, like a beast hunting, made her feel very uncomfortable.
This person is definitely not an ally.
"Who is this?"
Director Yuan pointed to Gu Xiaoqing and asked.
General Wei immediately patted Gu Xiaoqing’s head and said, "This is my granddaughter, Wei Ziyun. Sorry for the laughter, this kid isn’t in the best health and usually doesn’t come out much. She’s not as worldly as the others. Come, greet your Uncle Yuan."
"Wei Ziyun" obediently stood up and greeted Director Yuan, "Hello, Uncle Yuan."
Director Yuan sized her up and down, smilingly praising, "General Wei, your family truly produces exceptional people. Each one of them exudes an extraordinary air, very much in your commanding style. Look at this little girl, looking just like you."
"Of course. I’m the granddaughter who resembles Grandfather the most." Wei Ziyun, evidently accustomed to such praise from outsiders, responded without reservation.
Director Yuan chuckled, and after a few words with General Wei, they left since they had another table waiting over in their room.
Having settled the bill, General Wei led everyone home.
Fang Shaohan followed closely behind Wei Ziyun, speaking softly, "You should be careful of that man, he was probably here to confirm something today. You did well."
Gu Xiaoqing remained silent. Does it even need to be said, the mastermind isn’t that person, right?
