Chapter 9 - Silently fired

After the lunch break, more than a dozen employees had enveloped letters rested over their desks.

Curious, they opened them only to be appalled till their complexion turned pale.

Great chaos had initiated inside the company.

Some of them even tried to forcefully enter the President's office to demand an explanation. However, surrounding the President's office was a ton of security. That they could never get past.

"What is the meaning of this?"

"We have served the enterprise with loyal devotion our whole lives? And this is how you repay us?"

"We demand an explanation? What does the letter mean by we have betrayed Tang enterprise trust?"

"Is there any justice in this world! You can't implicate us without evidence!"

After much commotion, Emily had finally walked out of the President's office and faced the group of enraged people.

"Loyalty? You people have the hypocrisy to say that? The reason stated was clearly because of the lack of that same 'loyalty' that you are being fired." Emily's eyes were cold. "Each and every one of you knows why exactly you were sent the letter."

Even when Jazamine had a professional and cold smile on her lips, her eyes still held a warm glow.

But Emily... she was entirely different. Like a block of frozen ice several million degrees below the zero points. She was completely ruthless once provoked.

All the employees feared and respected her.

Being confronted by her, their confidence shuddered.

Hearing her words, they felt a chill down their spine.

"Secretary Emily, we respect you. Today President Jazamine fires us without evidence. Tomorrow she can do the same to you. Are you fine with that?"

Emily glanced at Richard with disgust. "I fall as low as selling my integrity for materialistic desires, she might as well fire me."

"You do not have any evidence!"

"You think we don't?" Emily sneered. "Enough of this. Since you have served this company for long, won't have the security drag you and strip you off the last bit of respect others have for you. Scram now." Without listening to another word, Emily turned and walked back to her office.

Down at a floor, Osbert walked to his office to collect his belongings. His head hanging low in shame.

Earlier this day, Violet had been insulted by Osbert. She had been depressed all day. However, after seeing his expulsion letter, she exploded with joy.

Since he was no longer an employee of the company and no longer her senior, she didn't have to respect him. Without holding anything back, she mocked openly once he passed her.

"What is it, Osbert? Didn't you say just a few hours ago that we should all go and search for new jobs since the company would go bankrupt soon? Why do you look so frustrated?" The mock in Violet's tone was clearer than water.

"Violet... Don't try your luck. Do you think this is it?"

Violet cackled and pointed at the letter. "Of course this is it. Senior Osbert, you should go and start looking for a new job, or you might just have to look after your wife and raise her children while she takes the responsibility to feed you."

"Shut the fuck up, woman. Let me tell you, this is not it. We won't go down without a fight." Osbert fumed with anger. Within his years in the Tang enterprise, he had made a lot of connections. He believed if he tried his best, he could force that unexperienced new President to take him back.

He was on an important post and the company paid him well. However, this wasn't his primary source of income.

His main source of income was selling the sensitive info of the company's projects since he had deep access to everything.

If he lost his job here, it was like losing ninety percent of his income.

He might get a job at a new company, but that could only be a shell of what he had at Tang enterprise.

"If this is not it, then what are you planning to do?"

"You'll know soon." With a raging face, Osbert left the complex with dark expressions.
