Chapter 81: Once the deal is secured

As the clock continued to tick away the minutes, Mo Ran’s thoughts sharpened. Every move needed to be precise, calculated. There was no room for error—not when so much was at stake.

He ran his fingers through his hair, pulling up the next report that had just been sent to him. This was where the real work lay—the subtle negotiations that could change the future of the company. He needed to ensure that every decision, big or small, aligned with his long-term vision. There were no shortcuts. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

He leaned forward, diving into the next task with laser focus, every second ticking away as his team worked silently in the background. The hours blurred into each other, but Mo Ran’s attention never wavered, his mind always three steps ahead of the competition.

At this hour, the only thing that mattered was getting results.

"Why don’t you take a nap boss? At least for 30 minutes? We have a full day ahead of us tomorrow.."

Mo Ran nodded looking at the time, but he couldn’t be the only one sleeping.

"We should all take a break, team A alongside me should get an hour of rest after that team B will get an hour of rest, we also take breaks in between. Our bodies are not machines, and bonus and day off’s will be given to both teams after all the deals have been secured.."

Mo Ran’s words cut through the dimly lit office, a quiet authority behind every syllable. The team members, who had been glued to their screens for hours, glanced up, their eyes showing a brief flash of appreciation. They knew the deal—Mo Ran never asked anything from them that he wasn’t willing to do himself. And he was right; they were all running on empty.

"I’ll have the rest of the documents ready for review once everyone’s rested," Mo Ran added, leaning back in his chair for a moment to assess the fatigue creeping into his team’s faces. He wasn’t immune to it either, but the clock was unforgiving, and there was no room for weakness in this game.

Liu, one of the senior analysts, was already nodding. "I’ll set the timer for the first break. We can’t afford to lose too much time, but a small recharge is definitely needed."

"Good. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize," Mo Ran replied, his tone firm yet tempered with understanding.

As the team began to shuffle to take their breaks, Mo Ran allowed himself a moment to glance out of the large windows overlooking the city.

The lights below seemed almost peaceful, a stark contrast to the whirlwind in the office.

But it didn’t matter.

He’d always thrived in this environment, where every decision could tilt the balance, where every move was a step closer to securing dominance in the business world.

The call from Yan earlier hadn’t escaped his mind. It was a momentary distraction—nothing that couldn’t be handled later.

His main priority now was to secure the contracts that would expand their influence across the market.

Everything else had to wait.

His thoughts shifted back to the strategy meeting he’d have tomorrow with the logistics partners.

They were looking to expand globally, and he knew this was their chance to lock in a deal that could put them ahead for years.

But there were always variables—unforeseen challenges, demands that could throw everything off course. The key was always in anticipating those moves before they happened.

As the office quieted for a brief break, Mo Ran opened the new set of data reports and began flipping through them with quick precision.

There was no time for rest—not for him. He couldn’t afford to let his mind wander, not now when so much depended on every single decision.

When he saw a minor flaw in one of the financial projections, he quickly jotted down notes, preparing to bring it up in the next meeting.

His mind raced, organizing contingencies and backup plans, mentally preparing for each possible scenario. He didn’t need sleep. Not yet. Not when the weight of everything rested on his ability to move swiftly and decisively.

By the time his team returned from their breaks, Mo Ran had already outlined the next few steps of the plan. He would give them a few moments to stretch, a few moments to recharge.

But once they were back in motion, there would be no stopping them. Every minute counted.

He looked up just as Liu returned, a fresh cup of coffee in hand. "We’re ready to continue, boss," Liu said, his voice quiet but eager.

Mo Ran stood, a slight nod of acknowledgment to the team, and his sharp gaze returned to the mountain of paperwork in front of him. "Let’s move."

And with that, they were back to work.

She had always relied on Lixue to write for her—those beautiful, haunting lyrics that had helped her rise to the top. But now... Lixue wasn’t there anymore. Her sister had pulled away, leaving Yu Jia scrambling.

She could feel panic tightening around her chest. Without Lixue’s help, nothing seemed to be working. The songs she had written herself felt empty, forced. And the label? They weren’t buying it.

Her fingers hovered over her phone, but the thought of reaching out to Lixue again filled her with frustration. What was the point? Lixue had been quiet for weeks, her answers short when she did respond, her refusal to help clear as day.

Yu Jia slammed her hand down on the desk, her breath shaky. She couldn’t afford to fail. Not now. She’d worked too hard to get to where she was. The fame, the attention—it was all slipping through her fingers, and she couldn’t let that happen.

She picked up her phone and dialed a number she had been trying to avoid. The voice that answered was familiar, but detached.

"What is it, Yu Jia?" The voice on the other end sounded bored, like they were already prepared for her to ask for something.
