Rebirth in the 90s: Melting My Devoted Mr. Iceberg-Chapter 689: Mrs. Jiang Gets Into Trouble
Lying on the familiar bed, resting on Mu Qiancheng’s arm, Jiang Xue quickly fell asleep. Before drifting off, she reminded Mu Qiancheng, "Tomorrow, wake me up early. I still have a lot of books to read."
Mu Qiancheng saw his young wife struggling to stay awake but still concerned about reading, leaving him momentarily speechless. Nevertheless, he agreed.
Hearing Mu Qiancheng agree, Jiang Xue relaxed and fell asleep.
The next day, Mu Qiancheng got up early. Remembering Jiang Xue’s reminder, he hesitated. He had exhausted her the previous day and wished she could rest a bit more. But what if Jiang Xue got angry for not waking her?
After some thought, Mu Qiancheng decided to wake his young wife.
"Xue’er, Xue’er!" Mu Qiancheng gently nudged Jiang Xue, who opened her eyes and rasped, "What?"
"Xue’er, I’m getting up to exercise now. Are you planning to get up and read, or sleep a bit longer?" Mu Qiancheng asked softly. He intentionally lowered his voice, hoping Jiang Xue would remain drowsy and fall back asleep.
Mu Qiancheng’s assumption was correct. Jiang Xue was still groggy after waking and couldn’t clearly hear what Mu Qiancheng was saying. She muttered something and fell back asleep.
Watching his young wife fall asleep again, Mu Qiancheng chuckled and shook his head before getting up for his workout.
When Jiang Xue finally woke up, it was past eight o’clock. Seeing the time, she tumbled out of bed and muttered to herself, "Liar, you promised to wake me up early, yet you didn’t."
After speaking, Jiang Xue noticed a note on the bedside table. She picked it up and glanced at it, seeing Mu Qiancheng had written: Xue’er, I tried to wake you, but you didn’t get up, so you can’t blame me.
Reading the note made Jiang Xue blush. She had indeed just blamed him. Fortunately, he had already left for work; otherwise, he might have been hurt by her words.
As Jiang Xue pondered this, she tucked the note away and got up for breakfast. After eating, Little Reunion woke up, and she prepared porridge for him. Once he was full, she took the toys she bought yesterday, hugged him, and went next door.
After handing the child to Father Jiang, Jiang Xue returned home and started reading her books diligently.
While reading, Jiang Xue’s phone rang with a call from an unfamiliar number. Upon learning that Mrs. Jiang had fallen while buying groceries, her expression turned grim. She put down her book, went downstairs, got in the car, and drove to the market.
At the market, Jiang Xue saw a crowd and squeezed through. She saw Mrs. Jiang sitting on the ground, looking pained.
Seeing Mrs. Jiang in that state, Jiang Xue quickly rushed over to support her and asked, "Mom, mom, what happened to you? Are you alright? I’ll take you to the hospital!"
"Xue’er, you’re here. I’m fine!" Mrs. Jiang shook her head, trying to stand but was too hurt to do so; her leg hurt too much.
At this moment, a kind-hearted aunt said to Jiang Xue, "Are you Xiuhua’s daughter? Your mom was pushed by someone."
"What, pushed by someone?" Jiang Xue’s expression changed, and she asked, "Where’s the person who pushed my mom?"
"Right here!" The aunt said while pushing forward a woman who was being restrained, "This is the woman who pushed your mom. We didn’t let her get away."
"It’s you!" Seeing Cheng Li, Jiang Xue felt a murderous urge. Damn it, what exactly was Cheng Li trying to do? Even if there was a grudge between them, she should have come at her instead of an old person.
