Chapter 682: Chapter 682: Isn’t That Too Direct

"Alright, Grandma, you go on in. I’m leaving now." Kai Bright waved with a smile and then headed downstairs to leave.

As the door closed, Old Mrs. Wells beamed and praised, "That young man is quite nice, Lucy. You should consider him seriously."

"Grandma, what are you saying?" Lucy Wells felt her cheeks warm up and bashfully squirmed a little, "He’s Sophie’s cousin."

"Cousin or not, if he wasn’t interested in you, why would he treat you so well? He even stayed for dinner to keep us company. Watching him at the table trying hard to make us laugh—if that boy wasn’t into you, I might as well say I’ve wasted my decades of life." Old Mrs. Wells chuckled warmly, holding Lucy Wells’s hand.

"But, but..." Lucy Wells averted her gaze, not daring to meet Old Mrs. Wells’s eyes, but a hint of sweetness emerged in her calm heart, slowly tinging it with a faint, sweet fragrance.

"But what? If you like him, accept it openly." Old Mrs. Wells said with a smile, "Both Grandma and your mother support you!"

Lucy Wells looked up at her smilingly encouraging grandma and mother. She pursed her lips and smiled happily. Maybe, it’s worth giving it a try.

Kai Bright was in a buoyant mood as he returned to Charles Seymour’s house, where he was currently staying for extra training.

Sophie Wilson was in the living room and, upon seeing Kai Bright come in, smiled as widely as a blooming flower, giving her goosebumps.

Looks like that dinner was quite effective.

"Did you gain quite a bit, huh?" Sophie Wilson leaned her arm on the back of the sofa, kneeling on it as she asked.

"Of course." Kai Bright chuckled, "I made it clear and warm to my future mother-in-law and grandma that I like Lucy."

"Geez, you’re being too direct!" Sophie Wilson nearly choked on her own saliva, "Your feelings came on a bit fast, didn’t they?"

"Can’t help it. I like to do things straightforwardly. Besides, finding a good woman these days isn’t easy." Kai Bright said with feeling, especially given his status. Someone like Lucy really fits him and is truly rare.

"Anyway, I’m telling you upfront, regardless of whether you and Lucy end up together, you can’t bully her. Otherwise, I’ll have Mr. Seymour beat you up." Sophie Wilson huffed, warning Kai Bright, "Lucy was hurt by that jerk before."

Lucy had been very serious about that guy, only to be belittled constantly, which made the already introverted Lucy even more self-conscious.

"Am I that kind of guy?" Kai Bright patted his chest, "I’m so upright; could I be a jerk?"

"Hmm, I believe you have the integrity." Sophie Wilson nodded slowly, "You won’t use sweet words to deceive Lucy."

Just then, Kai Bright’s phone rang, "Lucy, huh..."

Sophie Wilson’s ears perked up immediately. They had just parted, and Lucy was already calling her cousin. This could be something.

"Really? I took it?" Kai Bright pretended to rummage through something, grabbing the nearby bunny—clearly the one with pink ears—and exclaimed in surprise, "It really is; I missed it when I left... How about I bring it over now? It’s fine; I’m not too tired. Delivering such a cute little bunny, I don’t feel tired at all..."

"Really? Gifting it to me? Then I won’t be polite, thank you. Also, your mom’s cooking was delicious; please pass on my thanks. Okay, goodbye." Kai Bright hung up the phone, a satisfied "mischievous" smile spreading across his face.
