Chapter 728: Chapter 645: Will it Go Crazy?

Bai Shasha saw Li Si zoning out and waved her hand in front of her face. "What are you thinking? Still distracted!"

Li Si snapped back with an "Ah!" and smiled. "Not at all! I was just pondering this whole thing."

Bai Shasha raised her eyebrows with a teasing smirk. "Haha, I get it! Are you missing your Old Leng? You two are really something—the man’s barely been gone, and already you miss him like crazy!"

"Oh, come on! Is it that serious?" Li Si shot back at her in mock anger before continuing. "Actually, I was thinking about how maybe the two of them didn’t just meet for matchmaking—could be they actually dated! There was that one time you guys weren’t aware of, when I ran into Liu Jiaqi and Mrs. Yin in the restroom. Seems like Ye Duowei kicked up a fuss and spilled wine on Liu Jiaqi’s clothes."

"Mrs. Yin’s reaction was anything but ordinary."

Anyone who witnessed it would think Mrs. Yin was being unusually accommodating. If she wasn’t satisfied with Liu Jiaqi, would she even act like that?

Mrs. Yin—though Li Si hadn’t interacted with her much—was someone whose superiority complex was apparent even in the brief encounters they’d had.

Li Si still remembered a few years back, when Mrs. Yin rescued Beibei, and later showed up at Mrs. Han’s birthday party, where she couldn’t stop bragging about her impressive children.

Bai Shasha’s eyes glimmered with gossip. "Now I’m incredibly curious about what Ye Duowei’s up to. If she found out Yin Xian was dating your sister-in-law, would she lose her mind?"

Li Si chuckled sarcastically. "Absolutely!"

From what she knew of Ye Duowei, if Yin Xian ended up with someone else, strangers might be tolerable, but if it involved someone remotely related to her, Ye Duowei definitely wouldn’t let it slide so easily.

"Haha, well, that’d be fun to watch—a proper drama brewing!" Bai Shasha was delighted. She’d disliked Ye Duowei from the moment she met her, and all the subsequent incidents had amplified her aversion.

Everyone knew Li Si and Old Leng were an item, so there was no way she had anything going on with Yin Xian. But Ye Duowei stubbornly refused to believe it, repeatedly questioning and making things hard for Li Si. At times, Li Si couldn’t help but think, "Beauty truly lies in the eyes of the beholder."

What was so great about Yin Xian anyway? Was he really worth all that attention?

Yin Xian was a treasure to Ye Duowei, but to the rest of them, he was nothing more than a weed.

"Don’t get your hopes up just yet—not everything’s certain. Xiao Ning mentioned that she wants to go talk some sense into Leng Mo. Who knows how that’ll turn out!"

"Wait, what? How’s she planning to convince her? Would your sister-in-law even listen?" Bai Shasha looked skeptical. "When it comes to love, people lose all sense of reason—no one can talk them out of it!"

Li Si sighed deeply, full of conflict and helplessness. "Who knows? We just have to wait for her update!"

She understood that in some ways, both her and Leng Ning’s attitudes and actions were a bit selfish.

But setting that aside, discussing Yin Family and Yin Xian—was he really a good match for Leng Mo?

Leng Mo’s personality meant she’d inevitably clash with Yin Family. Besides, Yin Xian brought nothing to the table except a marital status that came with potential baggage and endless trouble.

Bai Shasha was quiet for a moment, then suddenly remembered something. "Oh right, apart from checking in on you and Buding, I have other news. Xu Er told me that Yin Rui is planning his wedding with He Zixi, and the date is set for the end of next month—late December."

The invitation will be sent out in a few days. Honestly, I don’t want to go—He Zixi is unbearably annoying. Li Si, remember how I told you she grilled me with questions at my father-in-law’s birthday party? She used the excuse of changing dresses to pry about you nonstop. What a nightmare!

She kept asking things like what you were like before, when you moved to Beijing, and your life in North City as if it had anything to do with her. What’s her problem? Your past has nothing to do with her!"

Li Si instinctively felt that He Zixi’s probing into her past carried some sort of special intent.

But she couldn’t figure out her reasons, nor did she want to dwell on them. There were certain things about herself that had to remain hidden, making her especially sensitive to this.

She spoke softly: "Don’t bother with her. She’s just odd! Imagine spilling her own drink and then blaming Meng Meng for it—it’s aggravating just thinking about her. I don’t want to go to their wedding either. Might have Mochen come up with an excuse to skip it."

If they ended up going, her sister-in-law would surely be there, and that alone was irritating enough.

Bai Shasha’s face lit up with excitement. "That’s exactly what I was thinking! Li Si, we’re so in sync! I can bet Meng Meng won’t want to go either. If their men want to attend, let them—we can plan a girls’ trip and stay far away!"

"Meng Meng definitely isn’t going. She mentioned it on the phone—she utterly hates He Zixi!" Li Si thought about her recent conversations with Su Meng. She hadn’t brought up Long Wu or Mrs. Su, leaving Li Si wondering if those conflicts had been resolved yet.

...

Leng Ning left Li Si’s home, carrying a few gifts she’d brought back from the Maldives, and headed to find Leng Mo.

She arrived just as Leng Mo had finished a surgery and returned to her office.

Leng Mo was surprised to see Leng Ning walk in with a shopping bag, knocking on her office door.

But after her momentary surprise, she still stood up to greet her and offered her a seat.

Leng Ning observed Leng Mo—dressed in a white coat, her short cropped hair neatly styled, her pale and delicate face unadorned, not even lipstick—yet she exuded a refreshing elegance and calmness. Leng Ning found herself thinking, Yin Xian wasn’t worthy of someone like Leng Mo.

Leng Ning licked her lips nervously before sitting in the chair across from Leng Mo’s desk.

With a slightly uneasy breath, she asked softly, "Sis, just finished work?"

Earlier, when she arrived at the hospital, she couldn’t find her, hearing from colleagues that she was in surgery.

So Leng Ning wandered around the hospital before finally learning that Leng Mo had returned.

Leng Mo paused writing in a medical file, nodded casually. "Mm. Why are you here? Something up?"

She didn’t think Leng Ning would come by impulsively.

It wasn’t as if they had much to talk about.

In an instant, she imagined what it might concern, sighing inwardly.

Leng Ning cleared her throat awkwardly. Some things were difficult to broach, especially with someone like Leng Mo.

How could she bluntly say, "You and Yin Xian aren’t right for each other; don’t listen to your mom—take control of your own marriage, or you’ll regret it for life"? Compared to them, Leng Mo would obviously side with her mother.

Her eyes drifted downward to the gift bag still in her hands, prompting her to push it onto Leng Mo’s desk with a cheerful smile. "I brought some little souvenirs from our trip. Figured I’d drop them at your workplace today since I didn’t have much else going on."

"Sis, take a look—see if you like them! If it’s not to your taste, there’s more at home."

Leng Mo’s bright eyes flickered briefly with a faint smile, but her reply remained as detached as ever, "Thanks. Didn’t have to bother."
