Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 192: They Doubt Her
Chapter 192: They Doubt Her
Aurora was pleasantly surprised to see all her friends gathered in Alvin’s room. However, their shocked expressions made her feel guilty about interrupting their conversation.
"Sorry, I came at the wrong time." An awkward smile spread across her lips before she continued. "I will come again later, Alvin..." she added, giving a slight nod to the others.
Just as she was about to close the door, Alvin halted her.
"Aurora, you arrived perfectly on time. Come on... let’s talk and meet everyone."
Alvin’s smile widened as he stood up, pulling an empty chair for her.
"Are you serious?" Aurora asked as she walked into the room. "I’m not rushing to meet you; you guys could finish the meeting first."
"Yes, yes...we are done," Alvin urged her to sit. "Instead, they are all eager to know you more. This is the right moment to introduce yourself to them, right?"
"Ah, you are right..." Aurora smiles at Alvin before offering her warmest, gentle smile to everyone.
These people were her best team. While she was busy standing right beside Alex everywhere he went, these people always supported her from behind. They provided her with the timely information she needed and helped with anything she asked them to do.
Meeting them again as a team brings her joy. However, she can’t express her happiness because she is no longer Aurora Moon; she is Spencer, a new person who will work alongside them.
Aurora already feels terrible because taking over her old position means they will all be her subordinates.
She was aware of their disbelief, and gradually, she began to feel a little weary of trying to convince them that she was more than capable of doing her job.
"Hello, everyone," Aurora said with a warm smile. "I’m Aurora Spencer... Perhaps you’ve heard about me from Alvin?" She turned to Alvin with a friendly glance.
"Yes, we heard!" Everyone nods with delight, their eyes still shimmering with amazement as they look at her.
Alvin chuckled as he observed their awkwardness. He hurriedly explained to Aurora, "Yes, I told them you are Alex’s wife."
"What?" Aurora was at a loss for words. She couldn’t believe this foolish Alvin revealed her identity on her first day working on this floor.
Alvin rubs the back of his neck, feeling bad for exposing Aurora. He can only express his apology through his gaze before speaking in a remorseful tone.
"I apologize, lady boss. I don’t have an option; they intend to flirt with you, so I quickly put an end to their fantasies."
Aurora, "..."
Alvin added, "My concern is that your husband will send them to another branch, and we will be swamped with work again here because of a lack of trusted staff."
Aurora sighed quietly. Still, she couldn’t blame him either. What Alvin said was true. Alex might fire them all if he learned about their plan to pursue and win her affection.
"Ma’am, we sincerely apologize. Earlier, we were unaware that you are Boss Alex’s wife."
"Yes, ma’am, I’m sorry too."
"We assure you we won’t discuss it with anyone, ma’am. Please spare us and Alvin from punishment."
"Ma’am, I apologize once more..."
Aurora couldn’t help but stifle a laugh at their amusingly frightening expression.
She wanted to reassure them that she was perfectly cool about it and wouldn’t blame Alvin. Still, the senior secretary, Alan Walmer, cleared his throat gently but loudly to bring her attention back to him.
"Mrs. Graystone, there’s no need to worry. We understand that what occurs on this floor stays on this floor, so your status as Mr. Graystone’s wife will remain confidential," Alan smiled.
"Thank you, Alan," Aurora responded calmly. However, she was later taken aback, realizing she had addressed him by name even though they had not yet introduced themselves.
Hurriedly, Aurora directs the conversation to distract them.
"Oh, right. Just call me Aurora. There’s no need to include my husband’s name. I am here for work, not as his wife. I hope you can respect that going forward." She said casually, but his commanding tone was enough to stun them all.
It was quite a surprise for everyone to hear Aurora speak so seriously! Her charisma truly shone, making them all eager to agree with her request immediately.
"Yes, we will do that!" Everyone answers.
After a brief introduction, Aurora stood from her seat and asked Alvin to follow her to her office.
She wants to officially carry on the work that Alvin had taken over after she passed away.
Aurora could take up her old job without Alvin’s guidance since she already knows everything. Moreover, she was the actual person who created all the systems that arranged and synchronized Alex’s schedule and work. Therefore, she could easily access them and track their progress.
However, Aurora will pretend she doesn’t know; she needs Alvin to explain it and doesn’t want him to feel confused or suspicious about her.
...
Upon entering her office, Aurora experiences a wave of happiness. She had been eager to step into this room from the day she returned to the building, but she hadn’t had the opportunity until now.
Her office is more spacious than Alvin’s.
In the corner stands her long wooden desk, equipped with a few advanced computers. In another corner is a comfy sofa set. There is also a small meeting room for ten people.
Unlike Alvin’s office, she owns her own coffee maker and has a bathroom inside. The office looks clean and tidy, just like she remembers it from the last time she left.
"Ma’am, this room belongs to Sis Rory, and we didn’t change or move anything. We just clean the room every day..." Alvin’s warm voice gently pulled Aurora from her deep thoughts about her past life.
She turns to look at him as he stands behind her. "Yeah, I heard that from Alex."
"If you want to change the interior, I will ask someone to do that soon," Alvin offered.
"No need. I like this setting..."
Aurora responded as she made her way to the meeting table. After opening her laptop, she asked Alvin to explain about her work.
Immediately, Alvin’s expression became tense. He prays inwardly, hoping Aurora will grasp his explanation quickly.
