Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 183: Confrontation (3)
Chapter 183: Confrontation (3)
After Andrew watched his son finally leave the room and saw that the door was closed tightly, he turned to Alex.
He stared at him silently for a few seconds as countless thoughts swirled in his mind.
When he noticed his grandson was about to speak, he asked, "Alex, what do you want from me? Say it!" His voice was gentle, yet Alex could feel the vibrations in every word he spoke.
Alex knows his grandfather is anxious.
Observing him no longer in denial, with eyes that have lost their calm and innocence and now appear sad and regretful, he understands that this is the right moment to express his demands to him.
"So you admit it was you who sent the truck driver to hit Rory’s car?" Alex’s voice trembled, struggling to contain the pain that surged in his heart at the memory of losing Aurora several months ago.
Andrew Graystone let out a long, deep sigh.
"Young man, you already know the answer! Why ask again?" Andrew paused, taking a deep breath of fresh air to calm the pressure in his chest. "Just tell me what you want!" he said, a hint of helplessness in his voice.
Alex clenched his teeth upon hearing his grandfather’s words. He already knew his grandfather was responsible for Rory’s death, yet he wanted him to admit it; however, it seemed the old man was unwilling to respond.
"I have three demands from you!" Alex said coldly and started to tell him what he wanted.
First, Alex asks his grandfather to beg for forgiveness from Thomas Moon. If Thomas forgives him, he will do what Thomas wants to do to his grandfather—throw him in jail or do anything else Thomas desires; he will fully support him.
Second, Alex wants to request Thomas Moon’s freedom. He plans to take him out of the Graystone household. He can’t risk Thomas’s innocent life remaining in this household, and he worries that his grandfather might eliminate him as well.
And the last thing Alex wanted was to change his name. He would cut ties with Graystone. Even though it feels unfair to both of his parents, he can’t ignore how evil this old man he once respected has become.
How could he still be part of this family? If his own grandfather could kill Aurora, a member of their family, how could he bear it?
After hearing what his grandson wanted, Andrew Graystone did not say anything, as he had already pictured this happening.
After a brief pause for thought, Andrew Graystone replied to Alex, "I agree to your first two demands, Alex. However, I cannot permit your last request." freewebnσvel.cѳm
Alex took his time to reply, faintly smiling as he rubbed his eyebrow. "I didn’t ask for your permission. I will eventually do that."
Andrew Graystone’s heart sinks as he sees how eager Alex is to cut ties with him. It’s a situation he never imagined facing—losing his only grandson.
"Alex, I’m sorry for what happened to Rory. If you truly dislike me, I can accept that and won’t hold it against you. But severing ties with this family isn’t an option. You cannot erase Graystone from your identity." Andrew Graystone pleaded helplessly with his grandson, his voice trembling as tears started to flow from his eyes.
Alex ignored his grandfather’s pleas for forgiveness. With a cold stare, he smiled sarcastically and said, "You’re apologizing to the wrong person. You should apologize to Thomas Moon... because you took his daughter’s life!"
"Given what the Moon family did to us, it’s excruciating to consider that you would take such a drastic action against them out of greed!" Alex kept expressing his frustration.
"I can’t understand how you killed Rory. I wish you could support us. It’s tough for me to grasp why you feel ashamed of my wish to marry her." Alex’s sharp eyes feel like a dagger in Andrew’s heart.
"Alex, I understand... I regret it! I regret my actions towards her!" Andrew cried. "However, if I hadn’t done that, you wouldn’t have met your new wife and started a new family with her, would you? You can’t hold me solely responsible for what I did. This is also a part of—"
"That’s enough! I don’t want to hear another word from you, Mr. Graystone!" Alex snapped at his grandfather for the first time.
Though Andrew Graystone opened his mouth a couple of times, he was unable to find any words to reply to him. What Alex said really hurt him. He stared at Alex for a while, trying to breathe freely as he felt like his breath was growing short.
After a few more seconds of staring at each other, Andrew Graystone was the first to break the silence.
"I will turn myself into the police and take responsibility for what I did to Rory. But please, don’t change your name or cut ties with your family. Don’t see me as your elder if you hate me, Alex. Instead, look to your father and mother..." Andrew pleaded.
Alex gritted his teeth and said nothing else, noticing that his grandfather’s expression was far from okay. He believed that if he pressured him, this old man might die from a heart attack.
At least he received the answer he was looking for: his confession, his grandfather’s apology to Thomas Moon, and Thomas’s freedom.
"I need you to apologize to Uncle Moon now, and I will bring him out of this house!"
Alex said and stood from his seat. He walked toward the room without allowing his grandpa to say another word.
...
When Alex opened the door, he was surprised to see Thomas Moon and his father standing there. They both gazed at him with curiosity.
"Alex, how? Did your grandpa admit it? Please explain more..." Matthew asked hurriedly, facing his son.
But Alex didn’t respond immediately. He turned to see Thomas Moon.
"Uncle Moon, please enter the room... my grandpa wanted to say something to you." He smiled and led his father outside. He also needed to tell him the truth.
