Re: Timeless Apocalypse-Chapter 47: Rewards
Eventually, though, he managed to drag Enoch up the stairs, the latter’s head hitting quite a few things in the process.
If he could have, he would’ve used a spell, but apart from the offensive ones he’d copied from the witch, he didn’t know how to do much, and he hadn’t had the time to read through the information he’d received from his pack.
After tucking Enoch into bed, he closed the door, then headed back downstairs and collapsed onto his sofa of predilection.
With a groan, he forced himself back up, reopening the living room windows and allowing fresh air to stream in, before returning and lying back down.
There was a lot on his mind, far more questions than answers, but he also now had much more free time than he knew what to do with.
Ayah was at work, and Enoch would most likely remain in slumber until noon at best, and the next day at worst.
With nothing else left to do, and his thoughts too chaotic to serve as his main focus, he finally decided to go through his many rewards.
Notifications flashed in front of him.

Uriel couldn’t help but whistle in satisfaction at the sheer quantity of rewards. A lot of them he’d already used in some capacity, but this was the first time he’d truly taken stock of everything he’d gained.
The aether crystals were, evidently, the new currency their world would be using, but they were also money he could spend at the Nihil Shop, somewhere he’d been meaning to visit for a while.
"A million, though... how much is that compared to what everyone else has? Am I the richest man in the world?" He chuckled at the thought.
The other rewards from the Cloud Trial, excluding his abode mark, were quite new to him. With a wave of his hand, he brought them out.
SHAH!
In the air before him, items appeared: five floating cards glowing with resplendent silver aether, a cube of gold the size of a grown man’s head, and a smaller cube of dark obsidian.
Two notification screens materialised in front of him.
——
[Item: Encyclopaedia System Modifier
>Grade: Diamond
•Details: A tool that fuses into the user’s system, evolving it and allowing one to garner greater information from the world, as well as possess a System-borne inspection skill, limited in various ways.]
...
[Item: Nourishing Swirl Modifier
>Grade: Diamond
•Details: A tool that fuses into the user’s digestive system, evolving it and allowing them to consume any and all materials for sustenance, up to Diamond Grade contents.
•It allows the user to survive off of any material they can physically consume, though the nutrients provided fluctuate and may be inefficient.]
——
"Huh."
Uriel read the descriptions with far less excitement than he’d expected. Not that he’d anticipated rewards related to food and information to be amazing, but he’d expected more nonetheless.
His abode mark had felt like a world-changing boon. This, on the other hand, felt... lacklustre.
With his budding arcane prowess, it almost seemed useless. What use would he have for the Swirl if he could eventually learn to detoxify and purify materials himself? What use would the Encyclopaedia be if he already had Enoch?
It was useful, but only barely.
"I must be missing the point."
He injected his natal aether into the cubes. The golden one fused into his stomach, and the obsidian cube sank into his head.
He waited, expecting pain, or some sort of transformation, but there was nothing of the sort. Instead, he almost immediately received a notification.
[Modifiers applied!]
He didn’t feel any different. Not in his body, not in his core, not in his aether. He was exactly the same as before. He reached out toward the couch beneath him, attempting to draw information from it, but...
Nothing.
Everything was the same.
"...," he stared at it blankly. "I’ll have to ask Enoch later."
With a sigh, he shifted his focus to the last of the Cloud Trial rewards; the five Evolution Set Cards.
...
[Item: Hybrid Evolution Set Card
>Grade: Diamond
•Details: A card capable of creating and producing any and all materials and methods needed to successfully carry out an evolution across a Rank—from Major Evolutions to Minor Evolutions, with all required resources provided.
•All resources will be of the Diamond Grade, allowing for the most optimal evolutions. However, the card can only provide materials up to the D Rank.]
...
Uriel sat up, eyes blazing.
’If I allocate this properly... both Enoch and I can reach the peak of F Rank, and Ayah can reach the peak of G Rank, or even higher. I’ll need to ask her what her rank is.’
He rose to his feet, pacing across the room.
’But would it be smarter to give everything to Enoch, so he can blaze straight to the D Rank? He already has his Class, and most likely already derived his Frames from it, while I’m nowhere near.’
He frowned.
’But if something happens again and we’re separated out there, I’ll be as weak as I am now... unless I put all my eggs into the basket that my spellcasting is.’
’I’d be more useful in an auxiliary role for now anyway... but what if—’
He stopped dead in his tracks, cutting off his thoughts as he checked the remaining rewards.
SHI! SHI!
Two cards glowing gold, four pills, and three radiant spheres of white light appeared in front of him.
"Let’s see."
