"Hm. So it’s all more or less the same; physical upgrades and a modification of the body, making me more adept at using the Root and the properties of the Iron Body."
He nodded, mildly satisfied, his lips slightly pursed.
"Neat."
"I do wonder, though, what exactly do they mean by having absolute lordship over a ’grade’?"
He caressed his chin as he pondered the thought.
He could guess that, in part, since his body had deep ties to Resonance, Dissonance and Harmony, the matter of grades might refer to something close to access grades. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Perhaps through these traits, energy, runes and arts within said grades would come easily to him, just like how the higher his access grade was, the easier spell casting became as a whole.
Though he rapidly came to such a conclusion, he couldn’t help but feel like he was missing a rather large part of the equation.
’It all boils down to the fact that I know absolutely nothing about Dissonance and Harmony, nor do I know how to properly use my cores,’ he thought, mildly annoyed.
He remembered that not too long ago his Mage Tool had told him certain things were better left unsaid until he discovered them himself, so that he would have the necessary foundation to advance and properly take advantage of his talent.
It was only now that he understood how true that was.
He almost felt like the System had screwed him over.
He knew absolutely nothing about Harmony and Dissonance, and hadn’t even known he had comprehended part of them. Yet now that he knew they existed, he almost felt like an invisible wall had been placed in front of him.
If before, with his talent, it might have taken him days to comprehend these subjects while trialing in the dark, now it felt like it would take years.
He hadn’t even properly finished comprehending resonance and its different layers, and now he was faced with another issue.
’Let’s calm down.’
He knew that deep down the reason his thoughts spiraled so rapidly and he nearly began panicking—beyond the effects of his sin—was that he was starting to feel the heat of it all.
He needed to grow. No, He wanted to grow rapidly, and Resonance was one of his fastest paths toward power.
’It’s fine. Talent only blooms under the hammering strikes of discipline and repetition. Whenever I can, I’ll buy a bunch of guides, then spend as much time studying and practicing as I go.’
’I’ll do the same for my Elements, my cores and everything else. Now that I have the Root, I have much more leeway.’
His gaze steeled, determination flashing across it.
’And if I manage to permanently awaken my secondary sparks, everything will fit right into place.’
He exhaled slowly. "One step at a time."
His runic scar shone, and he felt a wave of clarity and tranquility suffuse his mind. Calm returned to him in the blink of an eye.
He glanced down at his chest. "I also have to look into this."
There were so many questions, yet so few answers.
He almost wished his ’tool’ was online so he could at least get part of his confusion cleared. But he had already tried, and even within the Spiral House it remained non-functional.
It seemed the formation of his new cores had worsened whatever had disturbed it in the first place, as now the issue wasn’t his environment but the very mechanics of his body.
He had made the tool when his body had only possessed a single core and he only understood Resonance.
But now...Things had developed much further.
"Whatever."
Uriel stood to his feet and stretched, letting out a groan as he did so. Exhaling, he smiled, then ran a hand through his hair and—
"Argh! Damn it!"
—had his finger viciously bitten by the moody creature resting in his hair. It seemed even the formation of his Iron Body still remained inadequate in the face of it.
"Aye, come here!"
Ignoring its bites, he pulled the little fox off his head and brought it up to his face. It growled at him, but he entirely ignored it.
Looking at it, he raised a brow.
"You lost your tails?"
