Chapter 30: Anxious

There was no reason to cry over spilled milk, since thinking about that instead of focusing on traversing the terrain would just slow him down even further.

But it looked like a losing battle as the Leprechaun was not slowing down, unlike Leo who was only losing speed with each step.

'I need to somehow get faster... or I could.'

He raised his hand.

[Virtual Anvil]

Just like that, he stopped completely, ignoring the small monster's taunts as he started creating something.

And a moment later, a chain net was ready, but it still didn't feel like that would be enough.

Leo listened to Cien and stopped pouring his Mana into the blade, making the black ooze go back to its dormant state around his forearm.

Then he held the net in the same arm and waited to see what the Sentient Weapon would do.

Slowly, the ooze carefully spread over the net, thinning out as much as possible to cover all of it.

'Okay that works, now I just need to somehow catch that thing without the Agility Style! How hard could that be.'

The summoner hid in a nearby bush, stalking the Leprechaun's behavior. One of the things it did caught his attention.

A singular gold coin dropped out of its sack.

"kirk kirk... kirk!"

It slowed down considerably to pick it up before going back to the usual route of running around the path.

'Solved it.'

He dug a hole between two tree trunks and masked himself in mud. Once the cover was ready he dropped around 100 gold into the hole and covered it with a net.

After that he hid himself in the bushes next to it and sat perfectly still, hoping to fool the creature.

"sniff sniff ...kirk?"

It smelled the gold and ran between the two trunks.

Very slowly, the Leprechaun approached, paying close attention to its surroundings as it sensed something was wrong.

But the sight of so much gold at once made its dopamine receptors go into overdrive as its mouth was wide open and its eyes almost popped out of the sockets.

"KIIIIRK!"

As it was about to reach into the hole, Cien tightened around the net to close around the small creature, catching it before it could react.

No matter how hard it tried, the net would just get tighter around him.

"Now let's see what you had in your sack."

Leo snatched the sack off the Leprechaun and emptied it to the creature's protests.

[+ Material: Sea Stone]

[+ Material: Dragon Essence]

[+ Material: Kobold Skin]

"Dragon Essence?! Where did you even get this from you little booger."

In a hurry he hid the Essence in his inventory, double checking if it was really what he thought it is. He felt so much joy that he put the sack back on the Leprechauns back.

The confused Leprechaun kirked at him confused, then checked what was left in his bag. As it saw that there was nothing left it almost cried.

'Now I feel bad...'

|Leprechauns are very passive creatures, they won't try to take revenge Leo|

Leo was taken aback by the comment. If it came from Cien he would not bat an eye, but on top of the previous weird behavior, he could now sense that something was wrong with Biel.

'What happened to you, Biel?'

He asked while puting 1 000 gold into the Leprechauns, but got no answer. Once again she was gone, leaving both of them confused.

After the small monster snatched the gold and ran, Leo went deeper into the forest until he reached a big palace.

There were 3 bells in the tower on top of the structure, one black, one white, and the last one golden.

DING!

The golden bell rang, and right after the ground shook around Leo as the palace entrance opened.

'Golden one first? That means the boss won't be ready to fight?'

Inside, stood a creature cloaked in dark clouds, next to it were two swords, one entirely black, the other made out of glacier.

Just as he stepped into the palace, the doors behind him shut in an instant, and the man ran up to him throwing his hand up.

'He can fight like that?!'

Leo took out the spirit sword.

A window appeared in front of all the higher-ranking summons, it read.

[It's Leo. Could you speed up a little? I'm in a bit of a hurry. Also, come to the last path once you are done.]

He tried to slash the creature but it didn't work, his blade passed right through its ghostly veil.

DING!

Another bell rang, this time the white one.

His enemy's left arm became visible as the creature pulled the glacier sword out of the palace floor using telekinesis.

With a single swing, an enormous iceberg destroyed half of the palace, dropping rubble everywhere.

Swing after swing, the Black Swordsman pushed Leo toward the palace wall.

'Just a bit more...'

DING!

The last bell rang, unveiling the shadow creature in its entirety. A swordsman without any armor, just a white cloak slowly walked towards the center of the palace.

His other sword reflected rays of sun that fell on it through the hole made by his iceberg.

As he took it out, its sharp edge split the entire palace in two, and continued adding more and more cuts as it swayed against the air.

Leo caught up to him with a single step, clashing his Spirit Sword against the swordsman's two.

He knew that in a fight of skill he had no chance, but unluckily for the boss he had one thing that he didn't.

Numbers.

In an instant a swarm of Hellbats and Slimes filled the ruined palace, angering the swordsman.

Barrages of different attacks kept piling onto the monster, barely doing damage but preventing it from dealing any himself.

"Don't interrupt our duel!"

The boss kept shouting while reflecting fireball after fireball.

Eventually, it fell to the ground from the amount of damage, coughing up blood all over.

[Caution! Stand back!]

"You dirty vermin... FEEL THE GODS WRATH!"

A blizzard coated the entirety of the palace, closing Leo and his main two summons in an icy cage.

"What's going on?! Wasn't he supposed to be just a swordsman?"

Gloppy ran closer to Leo, helping him get up after one of the strikes.

"cough cough I don't know either. I was sure it would be a quick fight."

Even though the swordsman had just cast a high-level magic spell, he began to chant another.

Then another...

...Then another...

Behind his back, countless circles appeared as he chanted faster and faster.

"Gosh! Just how much Mana can he have!"

The Fearmonger tried to break his defenses, but a defensive spell blocked each one of her summons projectiles.
