"Yes... But weren't you planning on killing me?" Rael said before waving his hands around. "Not that I want you to kill me, of course, but what's with the change of heart?"
"I've found an amusing individual, that is all," the Beast chuckled. "You're nowhere close to Noble class, and yet you can consume souls without facing backlash. It's simply extraordinary, and if I nip a talent like yours in the bud, then I'm losing out on a potential ally."
For someone so strong, I'd assume it would want to enslave me or some weird shit... but ally? Rael thought with furrowed brows.
"What are the conditions?"
"Complete your quest, and we can have this talk again in the future," the Beast replied as it suddenly turned around and began walking away.
"Wait a second," Rael called out. "This is real, right? Like this place, and me? Is this not a memory fragment?"
"What else would it be if not real?" the Beast chuckled. "Let me guess, the quest mentioned time limits and effects? Something along the lines that if you do not do it now, then you will lose out on potential riches, correct?"
Rael nodded, causing the Beast to shrug.
"I can't say what the me who had given you the quest had in mind. However, the current timeline is stable, and there have been no interferences, whether fragmented or not, so this is indeed reality."
Before Rael could say a word, the Beast raised its hand.
"This vessel is coming back, so I have to head out. I do want you to know that most of my graciousness is simply because Alune has taken an interest in you. For the time being, just grow stronger. I'll be hearing from you very soon, I believe."
The moment those words fell, a pop-up appeared, making Rael's brows twitch.
