A/N: What do you think about the pace the story is moving at since the start of this arc? Is it too slow? I don't want to make it too boring

Seryn fell into thought for a moment before nodding. "It appears you are a Wayfinder. It is a pleasure to meet someone like you. On the other hand... money? How much do you charge?"

Rael raised a brow. "How much do you have?"

"According to this glowing interface... 7,993,225 Trell," Seryn replied, nearly making Rael's poker face break.

Bingo. Rael held back a grin as he cleared his throat.

"Very well... I can give you a friend discount, which would bring the total down to 4 million Trell if you wished to only travel to a few locations... or, you could buy the long travel service, where I'll take you around for a week straight for a generous sum of 7,993,225 Trell."

"I thought you said you would charge a small fee? This seems like robbery," Seryn said with furrowed brows. "Listen, while I might come off as a pushover, I am quite knowledgeable in the worldly arts. Therefore, I'd like to give you a counteroffer."

"Sure." Rael smirked. "Offer away."

"1 million Trell per new location you take me to. It must be a city or, as you said, a settlement. I will pay you whenever we arrive," Seryn stated.

"Works for me. Do we have ourselves a deal, Seryn?" Rael asked, stretching out his hand.

"That is indeed so." Seryn nodded as he accepted the handshake.

Well, I was hoping he was an idiot, but sucks for me, I guess, Rael thought with a sigh.

The deal had been made.

In exchange for Rael would be getting 1 million just to travel where he was already going.

Awesome.

"Seryn, have you ever heard of the Frostpire Bastion?" Rael asked.

However, Seryn simply shook his head. "I have not."

Rael tilted his head. "So where were you staying before coming to the Abandoned Lighthouse then?"

"I appeared in this exact place several months ago. I have no recollection of anything prior, aside from the scrap of the map that I had shown you earlier," Seryn explained.

Yeah... he's a walking red flag, Rael thought as he pulled out his map again.

There were two options right now. One option was to head back to the encampment, rest up, and set out later.

Or, he could get a head start now and go to the Frostpire Bastion.

It seemed pretty far away, and from what he estimated, it would take around a day's worth of travel.

However, there were faster alternatives.

There were many things he could do with his money, but once again, getting a vehicle was more important.

Of course, he would much rather prefer a helicopter or something, but...

That's the cheapest one too. Fucking scammers, Rael sighed, before going back to his earlier options.

The first was a dud, and the last definitely wasn't it either.

After careful consideration, he decided to buy The REwinder.

2 million... ouch. Rael's finger trembled as he glanced at the thing that had materialized.

It was a supercar—one that had weird off-road wheels and a comfy-looking interior.

Rael excitedly got in, and the moment he did, an interface popped up.

<The REwinder>

<Temporal Drift Mode: Allows short-range time reversals up to 5 seconds. Perfect for dodging attacks, correcting mistakes.>

<Chrono-Core Engine: Fuel is filled with the passage of time, making it run infinitely.>

<Increases Top Speed by 250%>

He stared at the pop-ups in shock.

Literally a car he could take anywhere, dodge any attack—and better yet? It was fucking fast.

All for the steep price of 2 million.

And to think there are many more expensive cars... fucking hell, Rael thought as he looked around the interior.

Like the car itself, it was all white leather, and the back seat seemed more spacious than what appeared on the outside.

Then there was the dashboard, which displayed odd numbers that didn't seem to have anything to do with speed.

I hit the jackpot.

"Pardon me, but what kind of contraption is this?" Seryn asked, leaning closer to take a look.

However, before he could even lay a single hand on the car, Rael grabbed his hand.

"Rule number one. No touching any of my so-called contraptions. Understood?"

"Very well." Seryn nodded as he backed away.

However, it was time they got a move on.

"Come to the other side and get in the back," Rael said, pressing one of the buttons on the dashboard, which just so happened to open the back door.

"Intriguing..." Seryn muttered, walking over and getting inside. "This is very comfortable. Far more comfortable than the rock I had for a bed, I can tell you that much."

"I'm sure it is." Rael chuckled as he recalled Sweepus Prime.

Of course, Sweepus Prime was shotgun.

Now that everything was in order, there was only one thing left to do.

Rael stepped out of the car, approaching the busted-down Hover Bike.

And of course...

<Would you like to sell [Hover Bike (Common)] to the Premium Shop for 125,000 Trell? Yes/No>

Despite the massive dip in cash, he sold it—as the only alternative was simply leaving it here.

Therefore, he took the money and the massive loss before heading back inside the car and closing the door.

Immediately, the seats adjusted themselves to suit his posture, making it even more comfortable to sit than he imagined.

And finally, it was time to move.

Rael pressed the acceleration pedal, and in the very next moment, the car shot forward like a bolt—going from 0 to 100 in less than a second and continuously accelerating until, eventually, he reached a speed of around 500 kilometers per hour.

Obviously, he couldn't control it, so he spun out.

However, as he was about to crash into the mountainside to his right, a few pop-ups appeared.

<Emergency detected!>

<Automatically using: Temporal Drift Mode!>

<Rewinding the car's time by 5 seconds!>

Immediately, he felt a heavy pressure envelop his body as he traveled backward—until finally, it stopped.

And unlike the fast speed he was going at a moment ago, he was now at a stable 150 kilometers per hour.

Nearly became bean paste there, but god damn, this car is fucking nice, Rael thought with a grin as he brought his eyes forward.

His destination?

The Frostpire Bastion.
