Chapter 442: Chapter 442: Deeper Emotions 6

Alice Turner quickly glanced at the phone in her hand, and it was still Christopher Turner calling, but she didn’t think much and hung up again.

"Why aren’t you answering the phone? Who’s calling?"

Lily Turner leaned in to see who it was, but before she could, Alice had already moved away with the phone.

Seeing this situation, she immediately felt something was odd and looked up at her sister, "Sis! You’re being so evasive, could it be..."

Alice’s phone rang again, and the sudden ringtone abruptly interrupted Lily. Instinctively, she looked down in the direction of the sound.

Because her sister was deliberately hiding, she couldn’t see anything.

"Watch the TV, I’ll go out and take a call."

Alice didn’t look at the phone, but she thought it must be her dad, Christopher, calling. He was so persistent; she figured he must have something urgent.

But she wasn’t sure what it was, feeling worried, she had to pull away from her sister’s arm, got up, and walked out of the hospital room quickly.

When she closed the hospital room door, Alice finally picked up the phone and looked at it. Sure enough, it was her father Christopher calling again. She moved to stand by the doorway and answered.

"Why aren’t you answering my calls?"

As soon as the call connected, a voice full of dissatisfaction came through.

Instinctively, Alice glanced at the hospital room door and replied in a lowered voice, "I was in a meeting, do you need something?"

She couldn’t tell the truth, otherwise her dad might tell her mom, and then her mom would cause a scene at the hospital, which would be terrible.

"When will your meeting be over? Call me back when it’s done." Because Alice spoke in a deliberately lowered voice, Christopher really believed she was in a meeting and didn’t think elsewhere.

Hearing Christopher say that, Alice knew he must have something to talk about. She stepped a bit further away from the hospital room door.

"Go ahead and tell me what it is now."

After moving away from the hospital room doorway, her voice was slightly louder, but still lower than her usual phone conversation tone.

There was a pause from Christopher on the other end of the line, and then he spoke again, "Do you know about Lily being hospitalized?"

He didn’t beat around the bush and got straight to the point.

"Where did you hear that from? Surely you didn’t also see it online?" Alice almost blurted out: How did you find out? Luckily, she caught herself in time and changed her words, otherwise, she’d unwittingly mess things up again.

Christopher, focused on getting to the bottom of the issue, didn’t notice this slip. When he heard Alice asking him like this, he thought she was surprised someone his age would read about such gossip online.

"Your mom just called me and said she saw online that Lily was hospitalized. What on earth is going on?" Christopher stated the fact—it was indeed Sophia who called him, and that’s how he found out about Lily’s pregnancy. It was only after that call that he learned Lily had already registered a marriage with someone else.

He was extremely annoyed at the time, that such a big thing was completely unknown to him. When he vented at the person on the other end, she said she had just found out too.

At first, he thought she was lying to cover it up, but after she explained so much, he gradually believed that Lily had done this behind the family’s back.

Though he was very angry, he felt more confusion than anything else. He immediately called Alice; the two sisters had the best relationship and would surely know what was going on.
