Chapter 376: Chapter 376: Uninvited Guest

The sudden interruption in the room came from Evelyn Taylor’s parents. Seeing Aiden Taylor and Harriet White standing at the door, a hint of surprise flashed in Easton Holmes’ eyes.

He thought it would be his own mother coming to visit, but he didn’t expect that it would be the Taylor couple.

Though unexpected, he quickly composed himself and resumed his normal demeanor.

"Uncle! Aunt! Please come in!"

Easton stepped aside from the doorway, making way for the Taylors to enter the house.

"Your uncle and I took a stroll after dinner, and when we saw the lights on from outside, we decided to drop by," Harriet explained proactively as they entered, clarifying the reason for their unexpected visit.

Aiden didn’t say much compared to Harriet, only adding, "It’s been a long time since I’ve seen your grandfather. I wanted to visit him."

As they spoke, the couple entered the room one after the other.

Seeing the couple had entered, Easton closed the door and followed them, reminding them, "My grandfather is in the living room."

While speaking, he kept his eyes on Aiden, only averting his gaze upon reaching the living room door, instantly switching his attention inside.

"Old Leader!"

Aiden greeted as he walked over to Callix Linton, who was seated on the sofa.

When Aiden joined the army at eighteen, Callix was the brigade commander of his unit. The Taylors and the Lintons had been family friends for generations, and Callix and Aiden’s father, Aiden’s father, Aiden were comrades-in-arms.

However, Aiden never relied on this relationship. From the year he enlisted, he worked exceptionally hard.

Aiden’s dedication and outstanding performance were noted by Callix, who directly promoted him to the brigade, personally mentoring him from then on.

Regardless of Callix’s promotions to the Military Department or the Headquarters, he always kept his most valued subordinate with him until his retirement.

Now, Aiden is the deputy commander of the military district, but he remains deeply respectful towards the leader who mentored him.

It had been a while since he’d seen Aiden, and Callix missed him, warmly inviting the Taylor couple, "Please, have a seat."

With visitors arriving, Lily Turner, sitting beside Callix, quickly stood up, "Grandfather! You chat with Uncle and Aunt, I’ll go make some tea."

Saying this, she politely nodded at the Taylor couple and then walked out of the living room.

Seeing this, Easton, who hadn’t had a chance to sit yet, immediately turned and followed her out.

Hearing someone following her, Lily didn’t need to guess who it was. She slowed her pace, waiting for the man to catch up.

"You go upstairs to rest; my grandfather and I can handle the guests," Easton suggested to Lily, realizing that the Taylors’ visit tonight was rather peculiar. Ostensibly, they were there to see the old man, but he felt there might be more lying beneath the surface, which required further observation.

Lily had only briefly glanced at Aiden and Harriet Taylor and had no idea who they were. However, she heard Aiden call Callix his "old leader."

Thinking the visitors must be one of Callix’s former subordinates from the army, and agreeing with Easton’s judgment, she figured it was inappropriate for her to linger around unnecessarily.

"Then I’ll leave it to you and Grandfather. I’ll head upstairs now." She waved at Easton and turned to head to the upper floor.
