Raising Ducks for Daily Rewards-Chapter 77: Unique Item
Walking out of his field, Fengyu chatted with Zimu about the time passing by rather quick.
It’s been eleven years since he entered the village, now he’s 27.
To the outside, he looked barely over 21, like a young adult who had just entered society.
Zimu, on the other hand, still looked at small as when he just reached maturity.
"Senior brother, do you want to go out together again?" Ming and Ling already waited midway through the road to the village for him, smiles evident on their faces.
"You two... broke through?" Fengyu asked in surprise when he felt their fifth-stage Qi Refining cultivation!
"Haha, we can’t hide it from senior brother! Indeed, we just broke through to the fifth stage a few days ago, so we wanted to surprise you today!"
"You did well in surprising me," Fengyu nodded with a smile, then asked, "You reached the fifth stage rather fast, haven’t you?"
"Just around the time senior brother took, no?" Ling asked, not sure why Fengyu thought their speed was fast.
"My cultivation speed? Well, it was a bit of a special case. You two on the other hand truly have great talent!
Alright, let’s go to the store and sell our goods."
"Mhm," Ming agreed and used his spiritual power to pull the cart.
As they walked, Ling asked, "Brother, have you heard of the beast incidents? Have you also experienced them?"
"Oh, you mean those incidents where small beasts started attacking some fields randomly?
With a formation, no field should’ve experienced any great harm, right?
I didn’t look into this." Fengyu shook his head, not really caring about some small beasts attacking.
"Hehe, senior brother, could you imagine that there are people who don’t have their formation on at all times?"
"Hmm?" Fengyu was confused, what was the use?
"Well, there are really people who only have their formations on during the night or when they go out, saying that the formation would have wear and tear if they activate it at all times.
After all, it’s true that a formation needs some repair every few years.
Those people were stingy and didn’t use it.
Now that these beasts attacked, these open fields were the perfect targets, leading to numerous damages."
"For such a small sum you would take the risk of being attacked... such people are the reason why not everyone who farms and crafts is called a creation master..." Fengyu shook his head at the idea of such people being alone in the world.
He chatted a bit more, mainly Ling telling him a few things about what happened in the fields around the village as well as some of the villages around.
Shortly after, they entered the plaza area and walked to the General Store.
The guards went right away to call for the steward, who also came out with no delay.
"Fellow daoist Fengyu, fellow daoists Ming and Ling!" the steward smiled and went to handle business of the twins first.
Fengyu saw that they gained quite many spirit stones. He nodded internally, knowing that the two’s talent in planting was good and that their path was more secure.
When it was his turn, the two distanced themselves slightly as always.
"Fellow daoist, the income is the same as always.
3 common low-grade Spiritual Ducks for 50 spirit stones. 20 high-quality ducks for 200 spirit stones, adding 5 spirit stones extra per 10 ducks. 20 normal ducks for 160 spirit stones. 450 high-quality duck eggs for 1 spirit stone per 6 eggs, which is 75 spirit stones, and an additional 1 spirit stone per 20 eggs, rounding up it’s 23 spirit stones. Then there are 675 higher quality Spirited Eggs for 8 eggs, for a total of 85 spirit stones and 18 bonus spirit stones, 3 extra per 100 eggs.
This brings the total to... 721 spirit stones!"
"Thank you, steward, for handling this!" Fengyu was thankful as always while calculating his cost –
3 low-grade Spiritual Ducks at 30 spirit stones worth of feed monthly. 40 Spirited Ducks ate 40 spirit stones worth of feed. His own food was 10, that of Zimu, Silver Feather, Spring Rain, Wind Claw and Soft Breeze were another 50. This would reduce the 721 spirit stones to 591 spirt stones, which is still a huge sum more than before.
The reason was that he gave up 40 strands monthly in the experiment, boosting his income a lot.
Although he was unwilling to have his income explode like that, there was nothing he could do.
Fortunately, it seemed like the steward wasn’t very interested in it.
Thinking of his income, he realised that he now had nearly 35.000 spirit stones!
This was only possible because his expenses were extremely low.
"By the way, fellow daoist, I have a matter I wanted to discuss with you. How about you come in for a chat?"
Fengyu nodded and called Ling, telling her that he would be right back.
Following the steward into the store, he was lead into the inner room.
"Fellow daoist, these past few years I have always looked for special items that you might need.
Last month I finally got this item, and just a few days ago it was delivered here.
What do you think of it?"
The steward took out a box and opened it up for Fengyu to see –
It was a wooden bock, extremely large. Yet on it, Fengyu saw various runes inscribed..
The most important was the carp half-sculpture at the front.
"Steward, this is?" Fengyu asked curious, an idea forming in his mind but not quite understanding.
"A totem! Well, a part of a totem!
In these lands, there are many relics of the ancient witchcraft practice.
Among the witches, the path of a Shaman was to summon and worship spirits, creating large totems that protect a tribe.
Some formation masters said that these totems have a similar effect as a formation in a given territory.
But, the effects of totems are more unique..."
