Raised From The Wild-Chapter 374: The Beginning of Chaos 2
Charles Gray entered a big bedroom at a luxurious mansion on top of the hill on the outskirts of the Capital City of Uropa. He proceeded to the balcony where a middle-aged man was facing the west while holding a wine glass on his right hand. ๐ป๐โฏโฏ๐ค๐๐๐๐ฐ๐๐๐.๐ธ๐๐ฎ
In the distance, skyscrapers were highlighted as their bright spires lit up with different colors, a stark contrast against the backdrop of darkness. The streetlights, car headlights, and illuminated buildings created a tapestry of twinkling lights, with colors ranging from white, red, yellows, and blues.
"The capital city has never been so beautiful at night. Isnโt the panorama so captivating? Look at the blend of man-made wonders and the natural beauty of the stars." The man wearing a golden phoenix mask looked down at the cityscape below.
It was a moonless night, so the stars were brighter. The trees and rocks appeared like imposing dark shapes, contrasting the shining city below.
Charles Gray remained quiet.
"Even though it is just an engagement party, today, you ceased to be my godson and became my son-in-law." He poured wine on an empty glass, sitting atop a small round table, and passed it to Charles Gray.
"Letโs make a toast, then accompany me to head back to the Crystal Hotel to deal with the hostage takers. I want to debunk those silly rumors on the internet that Iโve resigned. At sunrise tomorrow, everyone will praise me for resolving the hostage incident."
Charles Gray accepted the wine glass. When their hands touched, the man known as Almighty Zeus, the Defense Minister of Uropa, felt a faint pain in his right hand.
In the dim light, he saw no scratch or wound on his hand. A tiny insect might have bitten him.
"To success!" He cheerfully said and downed the entire wine glass.
Charles Gray also finished his drink and followed the man he called the Godfather for two years out of the room.
They headed for the rooftop but encountered Adelle wearing a beautiful white cocktail dress.
"Where are you going, Dad?" Adelle asked, then hooked her arm on Charles. "Darling, how can you leave when this is our engagement night?" Her voice sounded like it dripped with honey.
Charles coughed lightly.
"I need to accompany Father to settle the incident in Crystal Hotel. Be good. We will come back as soon as we can." Charles said in a doting tone.
Adelle smiled. Charles had never spoken to her as gently before. She tiptoed, placed her hands around his neck, and gave him a peck on the lips.
Charles was caught off guard. He controlled his emotions and gently patted her head before hugging her back.
Adelle stood by their side as they made their way to the rooftop, her hand waving enthusiastically as the chopper slowly lifted off and vanished into the veil of the night sky.
Ten minutes into the flight, the defense minister doubled over in his seat and clutched his chest.
"What is wrong, Godfather?" Charles Gray asked with an expressionless voice.
The defense minister felt his heart was being squeezed, and a heavy weight was pressing down his chest. The severe, crushing pain, coupled with tightness and a burning sensation, was too much for him.
He felt the air leaving his lungs and started breathing rapidly, struggling to catch his breath.
An overpowering fear consumed his entire being. He was convinced that his life was about to end, and the terror was paralyzing. He clutched onto Charlesโ collar desperately as if he were clinging to a lifebuoy in the midst of a storm. However, in panic, he lost control of his hand and inadvertently grasped Charlesโs face, causing the mask to slip.
"You... who.. who.. are .. you?" the defense minister asked with difficulty.
"Me? I am just a mere guard," the man whose mask was taken off grinned at the defense minister.
Defense Minister Blackโs eyes rolled back, and his head slumped. He lost consciousness as his blood pressure continued to soar.
"The defense minister had a heart attack. Hurry and go to the hospital." Charles said urgently.
After hearing Charles Grayโs urgent command, the pilot changed course and steered toward the closest hospital, which happened to be owned by the Blacks.
When the helicopter landed at the helipad, Charles Gray had already worn his mask and was cold and aloof again.
Medical personnel were waiting with a stretcher. Defense Minister Black was hurriedly carried away while a medic was undergoing emergency treatment.
When the emergency room closed, Charles Gray disappeared into the menโs restroom and never appeared again.
When Mrs. Black and Adelle arrived, the Defense Minister was transferred to the ICU. He had suffered a severe heart attack, and his heart had stopped pumping blood for some time. The reduced blood flow to his brain resulted in a stroke.
"Iโm sorry, Mrs. Black. Thereโs nothing we can do. Keeping him alive was already a miracle. There were too many blood clots in his brain. Weโll have to wait for his health to improve before we can operate, but thereโs only a 1% chance that heโll recover," the attending doctor relayed the bad news to the mother and daughter duo.
Mrs. Black became hysterical, and so did Adelle.
"Where is Charles? What happened to him? Why is he missing?" Adelle asked the doctor, but he could not answer. He did not see the man who had brought the Defense Minister to the hospital.
At the Black mansion, a mysterious figure clad in black pants and a hood silently infiltrated the bedroom of the Defense Minister. With effortless precision, he located an almost invisible button on the wall, causing a section of the wall to seamlessly part, unveiling a concealed staircase. As he ventured downward, the wall swiftly closed behind him, leaving no trace of his entry.
He descended the stairs, skipping two steps at a time. He navigated a narrow corridor until he reached an ornate door and opened it.
"There is bad news, Supreme Leader. The Defense Minister suffered from a massive heart attack and a stroke and is currently in a coma at the ICU of the Hope Hospital."
A chill suddenly descended in the room.
"Charles Gray also disappeared, and no matter how we looked for him, we could not find him."
The man sitting on a chair with his back to the door suddenly turned around.
The man in the black hoodie dared not meet his gaze. He lowered his eyes and went down on his knees.
"I apologize for failing to protect the Defense Minister..."
The man in the black hoodie was not able to finish his words because his head separated from his body and rolled on the carpet.
"General Ross, clean up this mess and the one in the Crystal Hotel. Also, find Charles Gray or Marx Skylar and bring him to me, dead or alive." The man on the wheelchair casually wiped the blood from the long knife, folded it in half, and put it back on the armrest of the wheelchair.
