Raised From The Wild-Chapter 373: The Beginning of the Chaos
The nurse who was observing them suddenly announced. Her voice was professional and flat.
"Quick, take them to the red zone." The doctor instructed the nurses stationed at the cubicles.
Captain Reeve became weak. He slumped back on the couch when he stood to follow the nurse.
The nurse, who was slender and a little shorter than Amaya at 170 centimeters, turned around. Without ado, she crouched and lifted Captain Reeves without difficulty. She carried him bridal style and exited through the same door that Doctor Wallace entered.
Captain Reeve’s face, flushed due to fever, became as red as a tomato.
Vasquez tried hard to prevent himself from laughing. Ultimately, he was unsuccessful and broke out in a fit of laughter. It was his first time seeing a 192-centimeter bulky guy being carried by a woman a slender woman.
Before Captain Reeve disappeared, he cast Vasquez a hateful glance.
Captain Stone on the other hand, walked with difficulty until he reached the door and disappeared from the other’s line of sight. It was only then that he slumped to the floor and allowed the nurse to carry him in the same manner his comrade was carried away... bridal style.
"General Jones, the hostages that were released, they should be quarantined. The virus is very contagious. It spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, or breathes. It can also spread by touching surfaces contaminated with the virus and touching the face. The transmission method is similar to COVID but not a coronavirus."
General Jones looked at Leon. He would have scolded him if he had not seen the tattoo on his wrist. Leon’s way of carrying out the command was more authoritative than his own.
’Who is the general? Is it you or me?’ he scolded in his heart, but his tone was expressionless when he replied. "I just sent the secret message to the Alpha team. We will lockdown the 3-kilometer radius from Crystal Hotel."
Princess Amaya looked at Leon. "You sounded so sure, Leon. How did you know about the virus?"
"I have my ways, Princess," Leon replied, his voice no longer stern.
Doctor Wallace, who was deep in his thought, suddenly snapped back. He was distracted when the robot announced that the two military captains contracted the fever.
"Princess, you said earlier that you had close contact with the prince of Albanya?" Doctor Wallace asked excitedly. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Princess Amaya nodded her head. Leon, on the other hand, was closely watching General Jones and the two military personnel. Their faces were flushed, and their breathing was getting rapid, a sign of the onset of a fever.
"Take General Jones and his men to the isolation room. They are showing symptoms of infection." Leon’s voice was full of authority.
"You can’t take me. I still need to oversee the operation." General Jones protested when two nurses supported him on both sides.
Doctor Wallace looked at the princess’s guard. He was confused. How could a mere guard issue such a command and give off such an aura?
"I will join you in your room, General. For now, we need to slow down the spread of the virus in your body. Your health is of utmost important."
Princess Amaya, Leon, and Vasquez were handed protected gears.
"There is no need; we were already exposed to the virus. Doctor Wallace, you must work hard to determine why the virus did not affect us." Leon continued to speak with authority.
"Right, right. Our experts are already studying your blood samples. Come. Let us follow General Jones to Room 1."
The group led by Doctor Wallace, left the triage area and entered through the door on the left. They did not walk far when they reached Room 1.
The room was equipped with all the latest medical equipment, and three doctors and a few nurses surrounded General Jones, who was reclining on the bed and attending a video conference call.
"Major, be extra careful. The terrorists released a biological weapon, and the entire banquet hall was contaminated. Do not remove your masks; you can start executing the plan. It would be sunrise soon. Once the hostage takers are subdued, stay in the hotel and do not let any of the hostages out."
General Jones made a few more calls. With every call, his breathing became more labored. After the last call, the tablet in his hand slipped, and a whooping bouts of cough escaped from his throat.
"Put him on a ventilator," Doctor Wallace commanded, and a nurse swiftly and efficiently placed the ventilator over his face.
"Doctor Wallace, please come to the laboratory at once. You have to see this." An excited male voice was heard from a speaker at the side of the wall opposite the bed.
"Escort the three of them to the lounge beside Room 1." Doctor Wallace instructed a nurse before he hurried to the door and exited without turning back.
At the lounge, Princess Amaya was pacing back and forth. She was worried about Raquim. She had seen how ill General Jones became, considering his exposure to the pathogen was limited.
"Princess, please sit down." Leon could not take it anymore and spoke.
"I am worried about Prince Raquim. They must be in a critical condition now."
As Leon reached out to lead her to the couch, his hand hesitated in mid-air, lingering for a few breathless seconds before withdrawing, as if suspended in uncertainty. His eyes darkened, and a shadow crept over his face, reflecting the turmoil within.
"It looks like the Princess is worried about the crown prince of Albanya. Do you care about him that much?" Leon asked, his voice slightly trembling.
Vasquez glanced at Leon with a raised eyebrow but quickly retracted his gaze.
"Of course, Raquim is my friend. I would naturally be worried about him." Princess Amaya answered without thinking.
Leon’s cold, tight expression loosened slightly. He released a long sigh.
"Princess, it is getting late. Please take a rest. We were also exposed to the virus, and the better we are rested, the more our body can fight the infection."
Princess Amaya, nodded. Indeed she was feeling tired. She proceeded to the inner room, closed the door and lay down on the white bed after taking off her shoes.
Leon sat on the couch beside the door where the princess got in while Vasquez stretched his long body on the nearby sofa.
"Why do you think we don’t have symptoms of the virus?" Vasquez asked.
"Perhaps we developed immunity to it." Leon casually answered.
