Chapter 309: The Masked Man

"How dare you!" Princess Amaya blurted.

Before the woman could jab the needle on her inside elbow, Amaya grabbed her hand and twisted it with ease. The needle fell to the ground and the fake pregnant woman grimaced in pain.

Amaya was wearing a thin narrow leather belt around her waist. She took it and used it to devise an improvised double handcuff. She had watched a video of how to do it before. She was fascinated and followed the video. She didn’t know that she would use it one day.

The woman was struggling and fighting against Amaya. She was strong but Amaya was stronger. She tried to kick Amaya, but the princess dodged.

Amaya forcibly brought the woman’s hands behind her back and placed the loop of the improvised handcuff into her hands. She tightened it until the belt bruised the woman’s wrist.

The woman gritted her teeth. She never thought that the princess knew some self-defense. If only she knew, then she could not have lowered her guard but it was too late for regret.

Princess Amaya forced the woman to sit on a chair. She pulled the scarf from the woman’s neck and used it to tie her on the chair.

"I didn’t know that the Princess knows some self-defense. But don’t be overconfident." The woman said trying to intimidate Amaya. She tried to wriggle her hands, but the more she moved, the tighter the cuffs became. She frowned. She needed to find a way to free her hands.

"Who sent you? Why do you want my blood?" Amaya placed her hand under the woman’s chin and lifted her head so she was looking into her eyes. She saw this move in one of the movies she recently watched. That was how people interrogated the enemy they captured.

"Why should I tell you?" the woman looked at her defiantly.

Amaya sighed. She was convinced that she did not look quite intimidating and scary enough. The woman did not show any fear on her face.

The woman looked at the front cab where the train driver was. She could not see the driver because the glass was tinted.

"What are you waiting for? Let us leave now. You know where to stop."

"So, he is your accomplice?" Princess Amaya asked with her right eyebrow raised.

The woman snorted.

A minute elapsed but the train was still not moving.

"Damn it, Eduardo! What is wrong with you? We have to leave now!" The woman shouted. ’The longer we stay here the more dangerous it is.’ She added silently. She was panicking inside. She was still bound. Though the princess appeared harmless, there were still many guards outside. She lost her hostage and her advantage.

The door to the driver’s cabin opened and the woman bound on the chair turned pale as the body of an unconscious man wearing a blue overall was thrown sprawling in front of her.

"Eduardo!" she screamed. "What did you do to him?" She asked in rage.

"Do you think you are in a position to ask?" The guard with raven hair and black orbs spoke harshly. His cold gaze penetrated the woman’s deepest soul. But when he turned to the Princess, the cruelty on his face faded and was replaced by a gentle look.

"Princess, are you alright?"

"I am fine. How did you know that she was in cahoots with the driver?" Princess Amaya asked. Despite the ordeal, she appeared unaffected.

"I didn’t know. I guessed she wouldn’t be acting alone so I checked on the driver to ensure that no one was hijacking the train."

Princess Amaya nodded in understanding.

The guard frowned when he noticed a pinkish line on her neck. Princess Amaya noticed the look of concern on his face.

"Don’t worry, the skin did not break." She assured him.

The guard sighed in relief. He approached the woman who was still bound on the chair. He gripped her chin and the woman gasped in pain.

"Who sent you?" His voice was threatening and the look in his eyes sent a chill to the woman, that her body trembled in fear.

Amaya sighed. She did something similar earlier but how come she did not achieve the same effect?

"Do not let me repeat my words thrice. Who sent you?" The guard’s voice sounded more hostile.

The woman knew that she would not be able to escape and only death awaited her.

She bit the poison inserted in the space where her first molar should be. After just a minute, she was foaming in the mouth, then her body twitched and her head drooped.

Amaya’s eyes widened. "What happened to her? Why is she foaming in the mouth?"

"She committed suicide." The guard said calmly. He pressed a button in his watch and the train doors opened.

Julienne rushed inside. Stephane and a few guards and police officers followed her.

"Princess, are you alright?" She asked, her voice full of worry as she scanned Amaya from head to toe.

"Clean the mess and take the Princess to the lounge." A police officer commanded his comrades before turning to the guard standing beside the Princess.

’Excuse me, Mister...?"

"Luciano Zander Cameron, Officer." The guard gave his name.

"Luciano, we need to ask some questions. Please follow us to the lounge."

---

Capital City of Uropa.

A man wearing a black mask sat on an exquisite armchair in a luxurious room in a mansion on top of a hill. He was leaning against the sculpted intertwined serpentine bodies of two dragons. His fingers were gently tapping the sculpted wood frame of the armrest, the lacquered brownish-orange color made his slender finger appear paler.

The man behind the mask looked gentle and fragile. It was said that only less than ten people had seen his true face as he always wore a mask when meeting people.

An officer wearing a navy blue military uniform was kneeling in front of the dragon chair. The insignia on his collar indicated that he was a high-ranking general.

"Your Majesty, we received a report from Lireya that they failed to obtain the blood sample from the target." His voice quivered. He had been to a lot of battles and he braved them all. However, bringing bad news to the supreme emperor made his inside churn.

The tapping movement stopped. Beads of perspiration appeared on the general’s forehead and he bowed even lower.

"What happened, General?" The masked man’s voice was gentle and kind.

The general trembled.

"The person we sent to obtain the blood did not expect the Princess to be an expert in martial arts. She subdued the woman by using her belt. She also has a guard who incapacitated our other man."

"Hmm! This Princess looks interesting. Get in touch with the King of Ra-Iya and assign him the task of capturing the Princess. Let us see if he is worthy to be a VIP member of our organization. And go get me the blood! Get it from other sources. You can leave now."

The general heaved a sigh of relief and hurriedly headed for the door.

Before he could step out of the room, he felt a chill down his spine then, he heard a deep cold voice.

"Do not disappoint me this time General."
