Chapter 277: Ava and Ren

A white sticky substance hit Dave’s eyes and his outstretched hand.

Without meaning to, Dave screamed. He used his other hand to remove the sticky substance that covered his eyes.

"He is Mommy’s friend so don’t hurt him." Amaya reprimanded the half-human.

"I am sorry Mommy. I thought he was going to hurt Brother." The timid voice of the young girl sounded just like an ordinary child.

"No. He is going to check your brother and cure him." Princess Amaya explained to the little spider girl.

"Do you think, we should administer antibiotics to him?" Amaya asked.

"I don’t think it is a good idea. It might harm him. I don’t know if he is more human or more spider." Dave replied, his face was pale from fright. He still was not reconciled with the reality that he was facing.

Marx standing behind the two squatting figures was annoyed. He did not like the fact that he was excluded from the conversation.

He flipped the cover of his watch and tapped on the scan button.

A red light came out from his device and scanned the unconscious creature lying on the ground. His human head was drooping with closed eyes, while the spider legs were folded closely to the round black body. His human legs and human hands were also folded.

A blue light projected from the device. Soon an image of the internal parts of the human spider was displayed over Marx’s hand.

The spider girl’s eyes widened.

Amaya frowned. She was trying to comprehend the image before her. She has briefly studied the anatomy of different mammals but she has not started on arachnids. She sighed silently. There were so many things that she wanted to learn and do but it seemed that she did not have time.

She has a photographic memory but even with such skill, she still has trouble catching up with the vast knowledge of the world.

Dave was baffled by the complex anatomy of the creature before him. His human limbs have a small bone structure made from the same matter that made up the exoskeleton.

The inside of the face was similar to a human’s except for the pair of fangs hidden inside the human mouth and poison glands connected to the fangs.

"He has internal bleeding. A portion of his exoskeleton is broken." Dave announced his diagnosis.

"How can we cure him?"

Amaya was worried.

"I don’t know. We might be risking his life if we give him meds intended for human consumption." For the first time, Dave felt that he was useless.

Marx cleared his throat.

"Aya, how about you try the herbs you used on me when I was injured back on the island," Marx suggested.

"Marx, you are a genius!" Amays blurted out happily. "Please wait here."

"Hey, where are you going? Don’t leave us here."

"I will be back very soon."

Amaya went to look for the ’milagrosa’ plant. She planted a few seedlings beside the Fairy’s Pool. She called the three-level pool Fairy’s Pool.

After plucking some young leaves, she went back to the Secret Garden. She crushed a few leaves until it became a green paste in her hand. She then applied the crushed leaves on the human spider’s back where the exoskeleton was broken.

"How can he take this if he is unconscious?" Amaya helplessly asked while holding the crushed leaves in her hand.

She looked at the lovely face of the young spider girl.

"Can you help your brother eat this?"

"I will try, Mommy." The young girl said obediently.

A thin hand reached out to take the green salve. She used her other hand to open his brother’s mouth and then stuff the salve. She also reached out for an insect that was trapped in a cobweb and pushed it into her brother’s mouth.

For some reason, the salve and the insect disappeared. The human spider must have swallowed it.

"Good girl." Amaya patted the matted hair of the girl. "From now on, I will call you Ava and I will call him Ren. Those will be your names."

"Ava," the spider girl repeated softly.

"Yes, that is your name."

Amaya stood up and stretched her legs which went numb from squatting.

"What do we do next, Dave?"

"Well, we can wait for a few hours and check back on him."

Amaya looked at Ava thoughtfully. While studying her hair, Amaya subconsciously ran her fingers through her hair.

"We will leave first and come back later. Please watch over your brother." Amaya instructed the young spider girl.

Ava nodded.

The three humans walked away from the artificial cave and left through the door in the brick wall.

Ava lifted her hand to her head. She spread her fingers and ran them through her hair just like what her Mommy did. She felt that her hair was lumpy, sticky, and dirty. She tugged at her hair a few times to free up the lump. She did not stop until her fingers passed through her hair without difficulty.

Her mommy’s hair was very beautiful and she liked to have hair like her mommy’s.

At the study room of Villa 1, Dave sat on a couch still trying to digest what he had witnessed earlier.

"Marx, so the rumors about the mythical creatures of half-human, half-animal are not baseless?"

Dave stood up from the couch and approached Marx who was busy on his laptop.

"You saw it by yourself. Why are you still doubting?" Marx replied without glancing at Dave. He was focused on the work he was doing.

"You came from Ra-Iya, so those creatures should come from Ra-Iya right?" Dave asked directly.

"They have names, Dave. Call them by their names."

Dave glanced at the Princess. The naive girl has changed so much in such a short time.

"They really came from the jungles of Ra-Iya?"

Amaya nodded.

"I knew it. That King of Ra-Iya is very dubious. What a sly fox. He must be the brain behind these mythical creatures." Dave gritted his teeth as he started pacing back and forth.

"Is there something you know? Spill it!" Marx finally looked up at him.

"Well, three years ago, I was invited to go to the Jania mountain range. There was a rumored sighting of unidentified animal species. Zoologists from different countries flocked to the mountain range."

"When we went there, we discovered a breed of tigers that were slightly bigger than cats but extremely intelligent. There was also a new species of spider that was as big as a human fist even at a very young age."

Marx’s and Amaya’s gaze locked briefly before looking back at Dave who was nostalgic while telling his story.
