Raised From The Wild-Chapter 276: The Secret Garden
"Amaya, are you alright?" Marx’s anxious voice reached her ears.
Amaya jolted from the trance.
"I am alright Marx. I know what to do next time I remember such a scene. I’ll just think of my Dad’s heartbeat and his warm embrace." Amaya said dreamily.
"Your father is so cool, Princess." Dave blurted out.
Amaya laughed.
"Of course, my Dad is the best!" sadness flashed across her eyes. "I wished he could have come home with me. It was his wish to show the world how awesome her daughter is!"
Marx turned to look at Amaya. He wanted to say something but decided to keep it to himself.
’If Ibrahim indeed came back, shouldn’t the situation be awkward?’
It was mid-afternoon when they arrived at Marharlika Palace. The accident delayed them for more than an hour.
Marx parked the car in front of the main gate of the palace. The guard opened the door for Amaya. Both the princess and Marx get out of the car at the same time. Marx threw the key to the guard.
They went inside and settled in the sitting room beside the reception hall. Though the room was not big, it was classy and elegant. It was meant to entertain a few guests. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
A servant came in with a tray of snacks and fruit juices. She was well aware that the princess and her guests preferred to drink juice in the afternoon.
"Does Dave know about the animals?" Amaya asked Marx.
"Yeah, Marx told me about the rare breed of white horses. I am excited to see them. Maybe we can breed them here on Verde Island. You have such a large grazeland."
Amaya glanced at Marx. Marx understood what she was trying to ask. He approached her and whispered in her ear.
"I initially thought to keep this between us but we need more capable people to help us deal with this. Dave is capable and can be trusted too."
Marx’s warm breath fanned Amaya’s ears and she felt a tingling sensation. Her face flushed.
"What are the two of you whispering about?" Dave’s eyes narrowed.
Amaya made a decision.
"There is something that we want to show you. Follow us."
Dave looked at Marx and wanted to ask him what was it all about. Marx ignored him and he could only follow the two of them as they walked toward the side of the castle facing the mountain.
Dave has previously seen the garden with the three-level pool. Marx said that the pool was inspired by the one at the Island which was Amaya’s favorite bathing spot.
Marx and Amaya who were walking side by side, continued until they reached the brick wall at the end of the garden. Marx tapped on the wall and a door opened.
"Huh? There is a door there?" Dave was dumbfounded.
"Hurry up, otherwise you cannot enter," Marx called him impatiently.
Dave scrambled over.
"Marx, where is Vasquez? Why is he not with you?"
"He is under the weather and recuperating at home." He briefly explained.
Amaya suddenly stopped. Marx who was walking beside him paused and glanced at her wondering why she stopped.
"What is this place? I can’t believe you built a maze here Marx?" Dave’s deep voice came from behind. He almost bumped into Marx.
"This is my surprise for Amaya. It is her secret garden."
Amaya hurriedly walked toward the northeast corner of the secret garden. There was a small cave hidden behind some shrubs. A few insects were trapped in the cobwebs in the bushes.
"Come out!" Amaya called gently. She regretted not giving the two their names.
After a long time, no one came out. Amaya frowned. She was sure the two human spiders were inside this cave.
She pushed aside the bush that covered the mouth of the small cave. She frowned when she saw the doll-like face of the female human spider retreat to the back of the cave.
"Don’t be scared. Come here!" Amaya urged her.
Amaya was blocking the mouth of the cave with her body so Dave could not see what was inside.
"Mommy, my brother would not wake up." the little girl said solemnly.
Dave perked his ears. He looked at Marx with a big question mark on his face.
"Did I hear it right? Someone called the princess, Mommy?" He asked Marx with an idiotic face.
Amaya swept the cobwebs with her hand and pushed aside the bushes that blocked the entrance of the cave. She squatted in front of the cave and craned her neck to look for the spider boy.
"Can you bring your brother out? The cave is too small, I cannot go in."
The doll-like face disappeared from view and soon a pale-looking face of a young boy with eyes closed appeared at the entrance of the cave.
The two creatures finally came in full view of Dave.
"What the hell is that?" Dave was dumbfounded. His mouth opened so wide that a golf ball could fit into it.
"Buddy, common punch me so I could wake up."
Marx sneered before slapping him hard on the right shoulder.
"Aww! That really hurts. Why did you slap me so hard?" Dave complained, feeling aggrieved.
"You should be thankful that I did not punch you as you requested."
Dave who was distracted suddenly shifted his gaze to the cave.
"Oh my gosh! What is this thing I am seeing? I am not hallucinating, right? How could this be possible?"
Dave paused and threw Marx an accusing look.
"You are playing tricks on me, right? That is just a hologram or a 3D model you projected from your device." Dave was raving like a madman.
Marx looked at him like he was a fool.
"Marx, spider boy is unconscious. His internal injuries might be worse than expected."
Dave looked at Amaya who had her hand on the forehead of the creature.
"So, it is real? It isn’t a hologram?" Dave muttered under his breath.
"Dave, come here. Please check him out. You are more experienced in handling sick animals." Amaya who was squatting on the ground suddenly called him out."
Dave stiffened. He did not move for a long time.
"Hey, what are you waiting for? Go check him out." Marx nudged him and he almost fell face down.
Dave found himself squatting beside Amaya. His trembling hands reached out to touch the forehead of the unconscious creature.
"Hisss..."
