Raised From The Wild-Chapter 268: Meeting Of The Great Supremos
In a huge empty hall, there was a big circular table with 11 exquisite black chairs gilded with gold.
The chandelier hanging from the ceiling was also circular and had twelve crystal balls. There were two black metal sticks, one was long and the other was slightly shorter. Those were the hands of a big clock When the long and short hands of the clock formed a single line and pointed to 12 o’clock, the seats were suddenly filled with people wearing black robes.
If an outsider would watch from the door of the meeting hall, one would think that the people sitting at the table were really chatting with each other.
In reality, it was just a virtual meeting. There was no meeting hall, nor table at all. The participants in the meeting were all sitting in the secret chambers in their homes in front of a special device that looked like a cylindrical tube equipped with miniature cameras and a microphone.
"Welcome dignified representatives of the Alliance." The Secretary General of the Alliance greeted the representatives who were also called The Supremos. "Let us welcome the newest member of our Alliance, Supremo K from Chaneya. As you know Supremo J died of illness last year that’s why he is being replaced by Supremo K."
Supremo K made a short introduction. He was the Prime Minister of the Chaneyan Union and hailed from the country of Taraize.
The Alliance was a group of representatives from four great states, Usturia, Uropa, Chaneya, and Aesiana. Aesiana being the smallest which consisted of just four countries has only one Supremo while the rest has three.
"Let me show you photos and a video I received from a trusted source."
A huge cube appeared in the middle of the table and photos of half-human, half-animal creatures appeared one after the other.
Gasps were heard from the table.
"Where did you get these photos, Secretary-General?" Supremo K from Uropa asked.
"My apologies but the identity of the person who provided these photos is confidential."
"These photos were taken three months ago as per the date stamp. Why are you showing this to us only now?" Supremo M from Chaneya raised an eyebrow. He was skeptical about the authenticity of the photos.
"We had the photos validated and it took a lot of time." The Secretary-General spoke casually. The photos and the videos were uploaded to our secret website.
There were murmurs around the table.
"Where is the location of these .. these creatures?" Supremo X of Usturia, who was the oldest among the supremos finally spoke.
"Unfortunately, the informant did not provide us with the location. However, we have identified suspicious areas scattered around the different States."
"The first one is the unidentified Island in the Pacific where the Princess of Liraya was found. However, that island disappeared after the volcanic eruption."
"The second one is the Mountain range of Senai in Uropa."
"The third one is the Janai mountain range in Ra-iya. There were rumors that a mountain there is damned because whoever enters the vicinity of Mount Paraiso could never get out alive."
"The fourth one is the mystical mountain of Washiya in Chaneya." The Secretary-General continued.
"What kind of bullshit is this? Why not send people to look for whoever took these photos so we can ascertain the location of where these creatures were found?" Supremo K, the youngest of the supremo from Chaneya flared up.
"Calm down, young man." The Secretary-General said in a soothing voice. The reason for this meeting today is not about finding these creatures, but we need to address the more pressing issue of who is behind this?"
Everyone was silent for some time.
"Isn’t this what the Dark Phoenix organization wanted to do a few years back?" Supremo K broke the silence.
"No. Operation Unicorn’s aim was to conquer the world to create a multitude of armies by cloning the specially trained army. Unfortunately, that plan was foiled and the Dark Phoenix organization was wiped out." Supremo K of Uropa said thoughtfully.
"You are partly right Supremo K. However we had gotten a very important clue on the original plan of Dark Phoenix. We acquired a detailed report of what Dark Phoenix planned to do and indeed it is related to the use of animals." Supremo X narrated. The rest of the Supremo looked at him attentively.
"The Dark Phoenix has raised a Genius Scientist who was obsessed with Greek Mythology. They took advantage of his obsession and funded a research laboratory. Unfortunately, we did not receive additional intel as DragonLord disappeared." Supremo X continued.
"DragonLord?" Supremo K raised an eyebrow.
"DragonLord was the one who revealed an important intel that foiled Operation Unicorn. His team of elite spies uncovered the plan in time." Supremo X was filled with pride when he said this.
"So, are you DragonLord, Supremo X?" Someone asked and everyone’s gaze turned to Supremo X.
"I wish I was, but I am not."
"Then why not call him and let his team investigate these mythical half-humans, half-animal creatures? I am still skeptical. With technology, fake photos can be made real." Supremo K asked.
"As I said earlier, DragonLord disappeared." Supremo X sounded sad.
"Did he disappear or did he die?" Supremo K probed.
"Gentlemen, we are being derailed. Let’s get back to the topic." The Secretary-General interjected.
"We need to mobilize resources to investigate whether the Dark Phoenix has risen from the ashes and pose a threat to world peace just like it did a few years ago. Let us cast a vote for those who are in favor or not."
The Secretary-General pulled a keyboard out of thin air and typed a string of letters.
"Like every voting, your votes will be anonymous. We will have two minutes to cast our votes."
After two minutes the results were displayed. Nine voted "yes" and only two voted "no."
The Secretary-General frowned when there were two negative votes. He has a bad feeling about it.
