Raised From The Wild-Chapter 259: The Winner Is ...
"Greetings, Your Majesty." Amaya greeted the king politely.
Marx and Vaszques lowered their heads to show respect to the king.
"You made me worried, Princess. Don’t you know that your Grandpa is about to wage war on Ra-Iya?" King Ralden asked showing an aggrieved expression.
"My apologies, Your Majesty. We got delayed by something." Amaya hastily explained.
"Did you enter the forbidden mountain?" King Ralden probed.
Both Marx and Princess Amaya looked at the king and studied him. Amaya had her thoughts. She wanted to gather more evidence for her thoughts to be conclusive.
"We did, Your Majesty," Amaya said calmly.
"You did?" King Ralden’s eyes were as big as an egg.
"We only reached the foot of the mountain when a tiger attacked us. After that, there were the very big spiders and poisonous snakes. It was the snake that drove us out of the mountain." Amaya recounted. The crowd around them was dazed.
"I see." King Ralden heaved a sigh of relief. His eyes lingered on the cub that Amaya was holding.
"The mother was dead and this cub is too small. It will not survive if we leave it there." Amaya explained when she saw the King’s gaze on the cub.
"Greetings, Your Majesty." General Maza who just arrived on his horse together with his men hurriedly went before the king and greeted him.
The King excused himself and entered his tent together with the general.
"Amaya, you made us all worried. You were missing the entire time. Your Grandpa and your father wanted to skin me alive. They were so worried that they sent the elite force over here to search for you."
No sooner had Prince Sapiro finished speaking when they heard the roar of a few off-road vehicles from the distance.
"I am sorry I made you worry, Uncle." Amaya sincerely apologized. "I’ll freshen up first."
Sapiro nodded. Amaya handed Artemis’ rope to Marx and hurried inside her tent.
A servant from the palace had placed a bucket inside so she could wash up.
Outside, the other hunters surrounded the two white horses.
"What a beautiful horse." A noble from the Capital wanted to pet Artemis but the horse snorted. She became restless and started neighing. She lifted her front legs and wanted to kick the people that surrounded her.
The hunters were scared and they backed away.
Marx calmed the horse down. He took out a sugar cube from his backpack and fed it to the horse.
"What a lovely horse." A beautiful and sweet voice came from behind a group of hunters.
The hunters parted. Marx saw a young lady dressed in white. Her ankle-length flowing skirt rustled as she walked toward the horse.
Sofia wasn’t wearing hunting clothes. She was flaunting her feminity.
She stared at Artemis and approached her boldly. She reached out and patted the horse on its neck.
Sofia looked at the man who was still sitting on the horse. His blue eyes were sharp and fierce. A stubble has grown on his chin and above his upper lip. His hair was unkempt contributing to his rugged look.
Sofia’s heart beat wildly. She smiled at him. Sofia was most beautiful when she smiled. It was her smile that caught King Ralden’s attention.
Marx however was not moved. To him, she was just ordinary.
Sofia frowned. ’Why was he not moved by my beauty?’
She cleared her throat. "Where did you find these horses?" She asked in a sweet voice.
Vasquez noticed the impatience of his boss.
"We found it at the plateau of Mount Janai, Lady Sofia." Vasquez volunteered the answer on behalf of Marx.
Sofia glared at him before looking at Marx with doe eyes.
"Since there are two of them, can I have the other one? Princess Amaya is my partner anyway. She shouldn’t mind right?"
"I do mind!" A stern voice caught Sofia in surprise. "They are mates and should not separate."
Princess Amaya has just gotten out of her tent. Her hair was still wet but not dripping. She changed into a pair of jeans and a white blouse. Her clothes were simple but it did not hide her natural charm.
"Princess, I am happy that you are back safe and sound. You also brought two of the rare horse species." Sofia faked a smile and sounded cheerful.
Amaya nodded but did not say anymore.
Sofia’s face contorted in anger. How dare she ignore her.
Marx has gotten off from Apollo. He whispered something in Apollo’s ear before tying the rope of both horses to the tree.
"I will get changed and be back in a while," Marx informed Amaya. He went to a nearby stream and washed up. He hadn’t bathed well in the past two days and was feeling uncomfortable.
After washing his face and arms, he hid behind a tree to change his clothes. He was half done changing when he heard a rustle from behind the bush. Marx hurriedly finished changing then took his gun and pointed it in the direction of the bush.
"Come out!." Marx barked.
A trembling female servant came out.
"Please spare me, Mister! I did not mean to peek. I was washing in the stream when I noticed someone coming so I hid here. I did not anticipate that you would come over."
Marx’s eyes narrowed. He noticed that she was clutching something in her hand.
"Unlock your cell phone and throw that on the ground," Marx commanded curtly.
The young girl turned even paler. The man before her was so fierce. She reluctantly threw her cell phone on the ground.
Marx picked it up and checked. The cell phone was still in recording mode.
"Who asked you to do this?"
The servant shivered and started crying.
"No... no.. one. I just find you so .. good.. looking..so I took a video. Please forgive me." She went down on her knees and begged.
Marx pursed his lips. He wanted to crush the cell phone in his hand but when he looked at the servant kneeling on the ground, he felt pity for her. The cell phone must have cost her three months of her wages.
He cursed himself. When did he start to be so merciful? He thought of Amaya who has a big heart even for animals. He deleted the video and threw the cell phone to the girl.
He turned to leave when a woman’s scream rang in his ear.
"Help me!"
That voice. It sounded familiar.
