Raised From The Wild-Chapter 249: A Child’s Love 2

"Why do you think Mother hates us just because we look like her?" a small high-pitched voice that sounded so ugly was heard at the back of the dark cave.

"Shhh.. don’t talk too loudly. There will be an echo. You know that Mother’s wound heals very fast. She might wake up and see us." The bigger of the two whispered in the darkness. They had lived for two years hiding from their mother. They have watched a lot of their siblings who were not like them die. He and her sister were special just like their mother.

When their mother went out of the cave earlier, they followed her silently keeping a distance. They saw the three strange creatures that somehow resembled their faces but they did not have bodies like them. They only have four limbs that look like theirs but they don’t have the extra 8 thin hairy legs that they used for crawling.

They were shocked to see how many of their siblings were killed by the strange weapons of those three ’monsters.’ Their mother fought back but to their horror, she was injured by the ’monster’ with long hair. What despicable monsters! 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

When he smelt something offensive, he led his sister back to the cave. They stayed at the entrance and waited for their mother to come before they plan to return to their hiding place.

When they saw their mother coming, they were ready to hide but the older one saw that something was wrong. Their mother was crawling very slowly and blue blood was dripping from her right eye. Then she fell down and stopped moving.

"What do we do, Brother? Mother seemed to be injured."

The older of the two did not want to do anything. Their mother wanted them dead so he also did not want to save her. However, his sibling kept on nagging him that he relented in the end.

The human spider woke up. Her right eye was stinging. She used her human hand to touch it. She was surprised that the arrow had been removed and that her eyes were covered with a salve.

So she wasn’t hallucinating earlier.

"I know that you are there. Come out!" She ordered harsly.

"Brother.. wh.. what do.. do.. we.. do?" The young human spider was trembling.

"I told you to mind our own business. Now we have been discovered."

The two young spiders have no choice but to come out from their hiding. If they were 100% spiders then they should already be adults but because of their human DNA, they were basically small children. The boy spider was about 5 years old the young one was just a toddler. Their faces were the size of a human fist. The male spider came out of his hiding fearlessly followed by his sibling who was trembling behind him.

Their mother was still injured so they chose to go nearer the entrance of the cave. It was the safest place. If their mother wanted to kill them, then they could just escape.

The human spider was shocked when she saw the faces of her two children who looked like her. When they just hatched from the egg, their facial features were not distinct. But now that they have grown up, their eyes were not like hers at all. They had beautiful big and clear eyes and their mouth were not like hers at all. They were human mouths.

’Did they mutate?’ How can it be? How did they survive all these years?

Now, that they were bigger, it was difficult for her to kill them. But she cannot let them live even if they save her.

"How did you survive? What did you eat?"

"We fed on insects, Mother," the boy spider answered truthfully.

The mother studied her two offspring carefully.

"I know that you followed me earlier, because if you did not how could you have saved me? I am sure too that you have seen the three humans who have killed so many of your siblings and hurt your mother. I am still injured and cannot follow them. If you want me to accept you then go follow these humans and kill them. Then come back to me and I can let you live here." She said indifferently.

The younger human spider was excited but the older one had a gloomy expression on his face. He knew that it was a dangerous world out there and they were still too young and not strong enough. Their mother was giving them a death sentence.

He did not flinch or show any sign of emotion. He simply led his sibling out of the cave and followed in the direction where the humans went. So they were called ’humans’ but they were still ’monsters’ because they killed their siblings just like that.

Marx had fully recovered his muscle function. He no longer felt numb and could move freely. He tilted his body and with a swoop of his right hand, Amaya found herself sitting in front of him and his arms were circling around her waist.

"Thank you for your warmth. It dispelled the coldness." Marx whispered into her ear.

"Since you are okay now I should move back to Artemis."

Amaya stiffened. She felt something hard poked her lower butt.

"Marx, there is a stick poking at my butt" Amaya said innocently.

Vasquez laughed hard. He only stopped when he saw Marx glared at him.

"Boss, your face is as red as a tomato." Vasquez risked his life by saying that. Surely his boss would not think of killing him right?

"You should transfer to Artemis as Apollo is tired," Marx said softly.

’Damn! Why did I lose control?’ he cursed himself.

After a few more minutes, Marx and Vasquez have to get off of their horse and use their long knives to clear the way. When they found a stream, they decided to rest for a while and have their snacks consisting of biscuits and wild fruits that Vasquez picked along the way.

Marx checked his watch and looked at the sky. It was mid-afternoon and they were still more than forty kilometers from the foot of the mountain.

Marx took out a drone from his backpack and sent it to scout the best route. He set it to follow northwest because based on his calculation that was the shortest distance to the foot of the mountain.

For a few minutes, the route seemed to be clear. There was a path that the horses could conveniently pass through.

A shadow loomed over the drone and in a blink the drone disappeared.

"What the hell.. what is that?"
