Raised From The Wild-Chapter 245: Can They Keep The Peace?
The female centaur calmed her mate. Their abode was not very big. They cannot keep the horses especially when there were seven foals that were born a week ago. It was the reason why they let some of the white horses leave.
The male centaur calmed down.
"If the horses recognize you as their master then they can come with you. But I do think that they already recognized you because they brought you here."
"Thank you." Amaya thanked the female centaur.
"I am curious, where did you get the white horses?"
"I saved my father once. He was attacked by a pack of wolves. I took him away, and the wolves could not keep up with my speed. He rewarded me with two white horses to be my playmates."
"My mate at that time was being experimented on. Father thought that he was too gentle like me and he wanted him to be fierce. I was sad but I became happy when I had the two horses as my playmates."
"Oh, I see." Amaya was listening intently. "How did you find this place?"
"My mate was in too much pain. When he got the opportunity, he escaped and took me along with him together with the two horses. Father’s men pursued us. We saw the ridge and were left with no choice, so we crossed it and found this place accidentally. Father’s men followed us but they died on the ridge, blood dripping from their ears. After that, no one came. Maybe they thought we were dead."
"Your cognitive skill is above average. I met the human bull and their vocabulary is limited." Amaya admired this female centaur so much.
"Perhaps Father made me more human than a horse."
Amaya paused. For a moment she did not know what to ask next.
"You were no longer there when your Father died?" Marx asked softly. He dared not ask loudly because he did not want to agitate the male centaur.
"We escaped a long time ago. We only learned because one white horse came back and did not want to leave. We heard that Father and his team of researchers were killed brutally and father’s children scattered all over the mountain.
Marx checked the time. "Aya, we need to leave. If we don’t go back, they might send people to enter the mountain to look for us and many people might die."
Amaya nodded.
"My name is Amaya and this is Marx. Vasquez is our guard." Amaya decided to introduce themselves before leaving.
"My name is Hera and my mate’s name is Hero."
Amaya: "..."
"Aren’t scientists the most creative people? I thought the name would be a tongue twister." Marx whispered to Amaya.
Amaya decided to extend her hand to Hera for a handshake. Hera took it and shook it gently. She had seen humans do that when she was still with her father.
Amaya looked at the distance where the four white horses were grazing.
The female centaur neighed and the two horses galloped back to them.
"The two horses knew the safest route. Take care of them."
Marx and Amaya bowed deeply to the family of four. Vasquez copied what his boss was doing.
"It is our luck to meet wonderful creatures like you. I do hope that you will continue to thrive. We will keep this place a secret."
Amaya neighed. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
The centaur family looked at her, surprise filled their eyes. She just said goodbye to them the way horses would.
The three humans left. Marx and Amaya rode Apollo and Artemis until they reached the tunnel. They dismounted and led the horse through the tunnel.
"Mother, is she also created by Grandfather?" the ten-year-old centaur asked his mother.
His mother looked at the back of the departing princess for a long time. She shook her head slowly.
"No, my son. She is a human."
"But how can she speak like the horses?"
The mother stroked the head of her son but did not speak. How would she know?
"Do you think they can come out of the mountain alive?" the centaur asked his mate.
"I think yes. The female is special. I smelled a faint scent of the human bull with her. She encountered ’him’ and yet she is still alive. Didn’t you hear her communicate to the horses? She could communicate with animals and she has a gentle heart. She will not die here."
The family of four walked toward the big tree and entered the tiny forest beyond the lake. It was where their dwelling was. With their human limbs, the couple made a roof and walls out of logs. It was just one big room without a partition. They also made a similar one for the white horses. The dwelling protected them from the rain during the rainy season.
The female centaur looked worried.
"What is that look on your face?" his mate reached out to touch her face. He was very gentle.
"I am afraid that we cannot keep our peace for too long." She sighed. "If those people could come here safely, wouldn’t the people who made Father create us would come after us? I don’t like to go back to that case and how we lived before."
Hero continued to stroke his mate’s hair. "Don’t worry about it. Those human looks like to be good people. They will not sell us out. Besides Mount Paraiso is very dangerous. If they hadn’t entered for a long time, then it meant that it was not that easy."
...
Marx decided to go back to the safe house going through the same route they took in the morning. They ate their dried rations so they didn’t have to make a stop. The three of them worked together to restore the journals to their places. Since they could not paste back the photos on the wall, they decided to rip them and make them look like they were destroyed by whoever massacred the research team.
Marx restored the original code to open the door at the stone wall. After thirty minutes they left the safe house in a hurry.
