Chapter 205: The Bio Reserve

The Rocas family had their breakfast the following morning, in the palace dining hall. Zanzara was sitting beside King Ralden and was wearing a white off-shoulder dress that was a little below the knee. She looked dainty on the dress as she gazed lovingly into the King’s eyes. Her father, Sapiro was seated to the right of King Ralden.

Amaya frowned as she took her seat. She felt that there was something different with Zanzara. There was something in the way she looked at King Ralden. Her eyes carried a sense of fanaticism in them that made Amaya’s hair stand on its ends.

"Cousin, you mentioned donating an orphanage. How about you entrust the work to me? When it is done, I will call you over to do the opening ceremonies." Zanzara said sweetly as she shifted her gaze from King Ralden to Amaya.

The King pinched her left cheek lightly as he smiled gently. "That would be awesome, My Queen. I know that you are very capable." He looked at Amaya and added in a pleasant tone. "What do you think, Princess Amaya?"

"It is fine with me for as long as I do the design. I have it already in my mind." Amaya said casually while sipping her tea.

King Ralden smiled in contentment before shifting to another topic. "I’ll bring you to the Coliseum. There is a show prepared for my esteemed guests. As you should know, the first King of Ra-Iya built a very beautiful coliseum over a hundred years ago. The subsequent kings of Ra-iya preserved and even improved that structure over the years." He glanced at the Princess of Lireya and the corner of his lips curled up slightly when he saw her eyes lit up.

"How far is it from the palace?" Sapiro asked while contemplating if he needed to postpone his trip back to Lireya.

"It is an hour if we go straight to the coliseum. However, we will pass by a bio reserve and I assumed that our travel will be delayed so we will arrive there in two hours."

Amaya perked her ears when she heard the word bio reserve. Maybe she can ask for some species that were not found on Verde Island. The botanists and zoologists that David and Marx hired had completed the catalog of the flora and fauna found on her island and she was disappointed that it was not even half of what Miraga contained.

After breakfast, Amaya changed into her hunting garb, the one that she used in Miraga when she explored or hunt in the jungle. Her cousins looked at her with envy. Her arm and leg guards looked so thin that they seemed to blend into her skin. Her boots looked like leather but how come they fit her so well and did not look sturdy but sexy?

"Cousin, I like your outfit. Can you make one for me?" Shanaya and Tatiana asked at the same time.

"I can give you a design and you can ask a seamstress to make it for you," Amaya said matter-of-factly.

Amaya followed Marx into a six-seater jeep. She was about to sit in the last two rows of seats when King Ralden cleared his throat.

"Princess, you can sit behind us. I am the most familiar with the Bio Reserve so I can better guide you."

Marx clenched his fist at the King’s blatant flirting in front of his new wife. He could do nothing but support Amaya as she got into the seat. King Ralden frowned when he saw the guard sitting beside Amaya.

"The vehicles for the guards are over there." He said sternly and pointed to another jeep at the back.

"I am sorry, Your Majesty. I was tasked to personally guard the Princess and I can only sit by her side." Marx said in a cold voice. He has an aura of a king and King Ralden frowned but let it go.

The two seats at the back were taken by two of King Ralden’s guards. Princess Amaya was taken aback by the petite structure of one of the guards. Surely, she couldn’t be a woman? The petite guard who was as tall as her was wearing a cap and a dark shade so Amaya cannot see her eyes.

Prince Sapiro, his daughter Tatiana and his niece Shanaya took the other jeep together with one guide and two guards. Six more jeeps were prepared for the guards from both Lireya and Ra-Iya.

The convoy left the palace at 8:00 am and after 30 minutes of smooth and fast travel, they started to enter to Bio Reserve. The vegetation became lush and a few giraffes and deer could be seen grazing from afar.

Amaya became excited. King Ralden pressed a button on the side panel of his seat and the glass cover of the car opened. Amaya stood up and took a deep breath with eyes closed. She basked in the familiar scent of the forest which was a mix of earthy, woody, and different aromas of the blooming flowers and decaying leaves. She thirstily inhaled the different layers of intermingling scents that created a rich and immersive sensory experience that she missed since she left the Island of Miraga.

"Princess, you can come down and look at the flowers and plants up close. They are more beautiful." The petite guard at the back said in a low hoarse voice but sounded too feminine from Amaya’s perspective.

"Can I?" Amaya looked expectantly at King Ralden who also stood up.

King Ralden chuckled. He loved the way Amaya’s amber eyes brightened. He said in his most beautiful voice. "Of course, Princess."

Marx gritted his teeth. He has an ominous feeling about the stop-over. He went down from the jeep and offered his hand to Amaya. However, the wild and playful side of Amaya suddenly awakened. She saw a vine just two meters behind Marx. She flew into the air, did a summersault, caught the vine in her hands, and before Marx could voice out his protest, Princess Amaya was already perched on a branch of a tree surveying her surroundings.

"Princess, come down here," Marx said in a gentle tone. He was trying to control his emotions but there was a storm brewing in his pair of ocean blue orbs which were hidden behind the dark sunglasses.

’Does she not know, that this is a very dangerous place?’ Marx has earlier noticed a few mutated plants and flowers and who knew what those things could do? The shades he was wearing were newly developed smart eyeglasses by Skylar Technologies. It helped him identify plants and animals and to what species they belong. The AI embedded in the smart glasses has altered him of those few plants that mutated.

Amaya grinned. "I am just trying to scout where is the best place to look at a lot of plants and flowers and that place over there seemed to be perfect." She pointed North while looking at the people who did not bother to get off the jeep.

She heard a muffled scream from Tatiana who looked at her with horror in her eyes. When she glanced around, she saw the same horrified expression on the faces of the rest of the people.

"Amaya!"
