Chapter 155: A Not So Ordinary Princess

Amaya remembered the call she had where a woman who introduced herself as the fiancee of Marx answered the phone. At that time, she didn’t know what a fiancee was. She thought it was a name.

"Marx has broken up with her." She said with conviction.

King Ralden laughed. ’What a naive girl’

...

The following morning, Amaya went to school early. She went to the gym to where the archery contest will be held. As usual, many people came to watch the tournament because of Princess Amaya.

There were only a few athletes so the tournament was finished in less than an hour. Amaya has gotten a bullseye for five out of six targets which resulted to her becoming the champion.

"Darn, I miss you tournament. Why was it so early in the morning?" Julienne was regretful.

"It is okay. There is still the swimming event."

Both the ladies went to the cafeteria to have the snacks. Amaya left the palace very early that she did not had breakfast.

In the cafeteria, they lined up to get their food and pay at the counter. King Duncan had instructed the school that the Royal Family should be treated the same way as other students were treated. However, of the Royal Family, it was only Amaya who ate in the cafeteria. All the others always had their meal at the Royal Chef restaurant where there were waiters who would take their orders and serve them.

"The First Princess is really down to earth. It is okay for her to line up in the food counter and pay her own meal." A senior who was eating with her classmates and facing the food counter commented.

"Did you see how the person before her took so much time choosing the food? Yet, she did not fuss about it and waited patiently." The student sitting next to the senior shared her thought.

"The cashier also asked to have a photo with her. She has no qualms about it. How about we go to her and let’s have our photo taken?"

"Restrain yourself. Don’t disturb the princess."

Amaya did not realize that at that time, many people in the cafeteria were watching her and had a good impression of her. Someone took a photo of her queuing to pay for her food and posted it in the internet. The post was titled ’A Not So Ordinary Princess!’

The caption was beautifully written.

’An ordinary princess wears fancy clothes with skirts that flare and dance with breeze.

She wears a tiara on her head, or a dainty hairpin or a fancy hair accessory.

Maids in waiting are always beside her awaiting for her bidding.

This princess whose two-strands twist braids are her only hair accessory, whose clothes are simple and lines up to pay for her food is no ordinary princess at all!’

The moment the the candid photo was posted, it was shared and reposted over ten thousand times. There was no one who was more popular than Princess Amaya Rocas in the entire Lireya.

While internet was buzzing with positive comments about the First Princess, Amaya on the other hand was enjoying her pancake and bubble tea with Julienne.

"Can I share the table with you young ladies? It is very unappetizing to eat alone." Stephane did not wait for their reply and sat down opposite Amaya.

"Good morning, Teacher." Amaya and Julienne greeted him at the same time.

"We haven’t seen you in a while, Teacher Stephane." Julienne looked at the teacher who had started munching on his sandwich.

"I took a leave and went back home." He replied briefly. "Congratulations, Amaya. I saw in the school’s website that you won in most of the events that you participated." He shifted his gaze to Amaya.

"Thank you Teacher Stepane. I just got lucky. Those events were the usual things I did back in the island." Amaya said casually.

"I overheard a rumor that the King of Ra-iya came personally to offer a marriage alliance to the First Princess?"

Julienne’s eyes widened.

"Is that true, Princess? But King Ralden has many wives already. Why would he want one more? How much stamina does he has?"

Amaya laughed lightly. Her faint laughter attracted Stephane’s attention.

"The marriage proposal is not for me. I just recently came back."

Amaya,s friend heaved a sigh of relief. Stephane looked down on his plate and has also a relieved smile on his face.

"That’s good then. It will be to your loss if you marry him."

Amaya turned to her left and looked at Julienne who was sipping from a coffee mug. "How did you know that he has many wives. I looked it up but I can’t find anything on the internet."

"There is this website that features the scandals and secrets of important paper. I came across that website. I will share with you the link."

Stephane raised his head and narrowed his eyes as he size up Julienne. The young woman was surprised when she caught Stephane staring at her.

"Are you also familiar with that website Teacher Stephane?"

"I heard about it but I haven’t checked it out."

"Julie, is there anything on my grandfather and my father?" Amaya asked nervously.

"Previously there is, but now it is no longer a secret,. Though, it is not widely known, King Duncan already acknowledged that you are the daughter of Ibrahim. Previously, there was a rumor on the Dark Web that Princess Danaya was snatched by the Crown Prince Ibarra on her wedding day. The report did not say from whom was Danaya snatched. Now, it is already water under the bridge because the Rocas has acknowledged that you are Ibrahim’s daughter."

"Are you just a student or are you a gossip monger?"

"I am both Your Highness." Julienne smiled wickedly.

Stephane pursed his lips and looked at Julienne warily. ’Is she teasing me?’

"Can you show me the site?" Amaya was interested. There were some people that she would look at.

"Sorry, Princess. The site is special. I cannot use my phone to access it. I need a special device to access it."

"Then, later can you send me instructions how to go to the site?"

"I’d rather not Princess. You will be in a lot of trouble if you do."

Both Amaya and Stephane frowned. The man sitting opposite Amaya looked at Julienne suspiciously. She looked young with a bubbly personality but if the site that she was describing seemed to be not a simple site, then the girl was not simple as well. Why did she befriended Amaya? Did she has an ulterior motive? Did someone hire her to watch the Princess?

While Stephane was lost in his thoughts, Julienne regretted the fact that she has divulged such information to him even if she felt that he could be trusted.

Amaya was also pondering. She wanted to look up information about Marx and his fiancée but she cannot tell that to Julienne.

Amaya finished her pancake and the bubble tea. She checked her watch and there was still more than an hour before her swimming event.

"Why don’t you join the archery competition for Aesiana?" Stephane asked Amaya. "I saw your results and they are outstanding. I am pretty sure you will beat the participants from Albanya, Lupanha and Ra-iya.

"Princess, Teacher Stepane is right . There is a continental level. The best players during the continental tournament will component in the international tournament."

"It looks interesting. I will think about it. Just in case, how do I sign up?"

"The gold, silver and bronze medalists in the tournament will automatically be signed up but they have the option to withdraw if they are not willing." Stephane explained.

"In the previous year, who won in the intercontinental level?" Amaya was curious to know.

"In the last ten years, it is always Albanya who dominated archery."

Amaya frowned. "Lireya did not win any event in the last ten ten years?"

"Unfortunately, yes." Stephane did not flinch when he said it.

Amaya was saddened when she heard that. Yolanda, her teacher in Lireyan history told her that the first king of Lireya was an excellent archer. He practiced by putting an apple on top of a pole and hit it from 300 meters away. He can accurately hit a target the size of a coin from 100 meters away. So his descendants were a shame, or rather he was a shame because he did not teach her sons well.

"Alright, then I will participate. I will restore Lireya’ s previous glory in the field of archery." Amaya lowered her eyes and was in deep thought. Maybe she should set up an archery school where those with talents can learn.

"By the way, when and where will the next intercontinental tournament be held?"

"It is three months from now and it will be held in Albanya." Julienne provided the inputs

Amaya smiled. Wouldn’t it be awesome to beat the Albanians in their hometown?"
