Chapter 121: Past Jealousies

She called her mother. When the call connected she put on a pitiful voice.

"Mother, I am being bullied!"

"And who has the guts to bully the Princess Of Lireya?" Princess Consort Nelida asked from the other line. She was worried about her daughter.

"It is my classmate, Mother. She keeps on comparing me with my cousin’s exam results." She complained in an aggrieved voice.

"Mother, why did Amaya have to stay in the same school as me? She got full marks in all her exam results and now I became a laughing stock because I only got average."

Princess Consort Nelida paused at the other end. "What did you say was the score of Amaya?" She said in a voice that was almost inaudible.

"She got full marks in all the subjects, Mother," Danella mumbled. "My classmates were raving about her and they said I am so lucky to have a sister like that. Then Arabella told me that she has a sister like that, and her scores will be above average. She insulted me." The more Danella shared, the angrier Consort Nelida became.

"Don’t worry baby. I’ll talk to your father about this. I will ask him to transfer Amaya to another school. Also tell your classmates that Amaya got a good score because, with her age, she is supposed to be a college student already. The exams should be very easy for her."

Danella’s face brightened. "You are smart, Mother. I haven’t thought of that. I’ll tell my classmates. Goodbye, Mother. See you later."

Princess Consort Nelida held her phone for a long time. A self-deprecating smile appeared on her face. It was happening again and this time it was between their daughters.

’Sister, why are you so cruel to me? You were dead for twenty years and yet you still continue to overshadow me. I cannot make my husband forget you. Now, your daughter is making my daughter a doormat’ She mumbled bitterly.

She and Danaya were just two years apart. She always lived in the shadow of her elder sister. Danaya was the campus belle. She was not only beautiful but also very smart. She would always ace her exams While they have similarities, Danaya’s beauty is a few notches higher. She has lots of admirers and men would do anything for her.

Back in college, Nelida also had admirers. But later on, she would discover that those boys approached her with only one goal in mind and that was to know and pursue Danaya.

Will her daughter suffer the same fate as she did? Her self-confidence was totally eroded because of Danaya. Her sister was a very good person which made matters even worst. It could have been better if she was a cruel person and so her hatred for her is justified. But she was gentle and kind.

She released a deep breath before she logged into the Liraya National High School Forum. There she found that the news about Amaya’s unbelievable scores was the top trending topic in the forum.

There was a photo of Donello who was beaming happily as he showed his wallpaper which was a photo of Amaya. The photo was captioned, "Sister got full marks." and there were a lot of shares and likes.

She browsed the comments and she saw that everyone was unanimous in their praises for Amaya. There were a few who also congratulated Donello for making it to the top ten.

She continued browsing and read a few comments on Danella’s average scores. Nelida’s eyes darkened. She should be stricter with Danella and hire more tutors for her.

...

At the king’s court, Armando was standing in front King Duncan and the crown prince. I have good and bad news! Which one would you like to hear first?

"Of course, the good news." The king ordered.

"The good news is that Princess Amaya was trending in the school’s forum. She got full marks in all the subjects."

"Full marks in all subjects?" King Duncan asked in disbelief.

"Yes, Your Majesty.

King Duncan was beaming. "As expected of my granddaughter."

"How about the prince?"

"He is in the top ten of his class."

"Hmmm, not bad. But Ibarra, you should teach him some more. When you were in high school back then, you always topped your exams."

’It is only because, for difficult subjects like Math, it was Ibrahim who would sit in and take the test for me.’ Ibarra was reminded of the things his twin brother would do for him.

"Yes, Father. I will definitely teach Donello more."

"And what is the bad news?"

"The second princess was bullied. She walked out of her class because she was being compared to the First Princess."

Crown Prince Ibarra did not know what to feel. While he was happy for Amaya, he felt sorry for his daughter. She was his own flesh and blood after all.

"I think it is not bad news. Danella has been pampered by her mother for so long. I hope that her competitive spirit would awaken so she can achieve more. I know that she is a smart girl. She is just lazy when it comes to studying."

"Father, I will make sure that Danella will study more and her scores will get better in the next exams." Ibarra sounded resolute.

King Duncan just nodded. He looked at Armando and he know that he has still something to say.

"Go ahead, Armando."

"The principal said that after the semester, Amaya will have the option to move to Grade 12."

"Thank you, Armando. You can leave now."

After Armando left the king asked, "What do you think, Ibarra.? Do we allow Amaya to go straight to Grade 12?

"I am not sure, Father. Maybe we should also ask Amaya what is her thoughts on this?"

"That is settled then."

"Wait Father, I have a suggestion. Can we transfer Amaya to another school?"

Why?"

"I just feel that it is not appropriate for her to be staying in such a place."
