Raised From The Wild-Chapter 104: Lunch Date
Samantha saw the adoring gaze that Stephane has given Amaya. It was only for a brief moment but she caught it.
’Damn this woman. The teacher liked her and earlier, a handsome man was walking beside her. What is so special about her? I am also a princess?’
When class was over, Amaya did not know what to do. Marx just asked her when will her class end, but he did not say whether they will meet in the cafeteria or if he will pick her up.
"Hey, aren’t you going to have lunch?" Julienne stood beside her table.
"Marx said that he will pick me up."
"Okay, then. Are you going to wait for him here or outside?"
"I’ll wait for him here first."
"Alright. I will go with Ray. See you later.
While waiting, Amaya checked the internet for jewelry designs. She needed to come up with new design ideas so the customers can have more choices when the store started operation.
She felt a shadow fall over her. When she looked up it was Stephane.
"Teacher, is there anything I can help you with?"
"None. I left something on the table and I came back to get it. Why are you still here?" Stephane asked while stuffing his hands in the pockets of his pants.
"I am waiting for someone. I think I should wait for him over there." Amaya pointed to the stone benches outside the building.
Amaya stood and walked out of the room. Stephane walked alongside her keeping a safe distance.
"I saw you interact with the animals at the zoo. Do you know Zoology?" Stephane asked casually.
"It is the study of animals."
"I am actually also a zoologist. I hope that you can let me be with your animals."
Amaya frowned. She was reluctant to have her friends taken as a lab rat or studied.
Stephane watched her reaction and he was unhappy. It looked like he will not succeed.
Amaya saw Marx walking toward them. She waved her hands at him to call his attention.
Stephane froze when he saw was coming over. He wanted to excuse himself but unfortunately, it was too late.
"Hello Marx, it’s been a long time. How are you?" He extended his hand toward Marx.
Marx held his hand and shook it for a few seconds. "It is a surprise to see you here Stephane. I wonder how you ended up being a teacher here in Lireya. How about you join us for lunch?"
Stephane only hesitated for a second. "I will trouble you then."
The Royal Chef restaurant was located in another building. It would take them around 15 minutes to reach the restaurant.
"You did not answer me earlier when I asked you why you are a teacher here. It does not suit your background at all."
"Are you looking down on me?" Stephane sneered.
Marx shook his head. "Of course not. How can I look down on you?"
Amaya was silent as she just listened to the two men bicker with each other. When they get inside the restaurant, she noticed the luxurious decor. The restaurant was indeed designed for the rich.
"Sister," Donello shouted excitedly. Amaya looked at Marx and then she approached her brother’s table. He was eating with his classmates who were mostly girls and a few lads. Donello introduced her to his classmates and friends. After saying hello, she went back to where Marx and Stephane were. She was not paying attention to where she was going because she was checking out Danella and her classmates.
She tripped on something. Loud gasps were heard coming from different tables. Amaya was caught off guard and she felt herself falling on the ground. However, a pair of strong hands broke her fall. She looked at a pair of eyes that were as blue as the ocean.
She smiled. "Thank you, Marx. I did not know that you can move so fast." She whispered. Then she glared at the woman who tripped her.
"I’m so sorry Amaya. I did not do it on purpose. I was just stretching my leg because it felt numb."
Amaya sized up the occupants of the table. Samantha was there and also Ardaya who did not meet her eyes. She knew that what happened earlier must have been instigated by Samantha. She tried to remember why Samantha seemed hostile to her. No matter how much she tried, she cannot remember offending her.
’So, why does she always want to make trouble for me?’
Samantha was ogling Marx. It was obvious from her gaze that she desired Marx. Amaya felt uncomfortable so she tugged at Marx’s sleeves
"I have booked a private room. Stephane is already there"
Samantha wanted to say something but Marx glared at her. Then his gaze shifted to the young woman who tripped Amaya. His eyes turned icy cold and the woman felt the temperature surrounding her dropped by a few centigrade.
"I’m sorry Princess Amaya, it was my fault. Please forgive me." The girl said in a trembling voice. The man beside the princess was intimidating.
Amaya just nodded at her before following Marx into the private room.
"What a slutty princess. Look at her dining with two men." Samantha sounded disgusted but in reality, she was envious.
"I think she is quite lucky. That Usturian Hunk is so handsome. I thought that Teacher Stephane is already handsome but he still paled in comparison to that man with blue eyes." Ardaya said.
"Did you not see that he looked at me? I felt my soul was drowning in his ocean-blue eyes." Samantha said dreamily.
Ardaya cast a sideways glance at Samantha. ’Is she dreaming? It was very obvious that the man was giving her a warning.’
Meanwhile, in the dining room, the waiter was taking their orders. There were a lot of selections and Amaya’s stomach was already grumbling. She called the waiter and asked him to recommend a meal. The waiter happily complied.
"Why did you ask the waiter to recommend a meal?" Marx asked her in a gentle tone.
"Well, I am already hungry, and besides he should know what are the best sellers here right?" Amaya looked at Marx who was sitting beside her exposing her beautiful profile to Stephane.
The two men looked at Amaya at the same time. She has a point.
The waiter came back with their orders. Amaya made the right decision of relying on the waiter as her food looked good.
"I hope you’ll find this to your liking, Princess." The waiter bowed to her. He was happy when she sought his opinion on the restaurant’s specialty.
Amaya gave him a thumbs up. She took a spoonful of the food on her plate. The food tasted very good.
"Stephane, let us continue our discussion earlier. How did you end up as a professor here?"
"Well, this is something I like and not what other people liked for me." Stephane was bitter. He did not want to be controlled and influenced by others which is what his grandfather was doing to him, hence he ran away from home.
"So you gave up your company, in pursuit of your dreams?" Marxprobed.
"Yes. I have no regret."
"So how is Amaya as a student?" Marx changed the topic.
Amaya looked up when she heard her name being called. She was busy relishing her food. The salad was refreshing and the entree was delicious.
Stephane scanned Amaaya who was still eating. "You want an honest assessment?" He threw Marx an amused look.
Marx snickered. "Of course I want it."
"Is it proper for you to discuss ’me’ in front of me?" Amaya was a bit uncomfortable. She wanted to escape but decided against it.
Stephane smiled. "Sorry Amaya, he asked for it so I will give him an honest assessment.
"Don’t worry Aya. I am pretty sure he only has good words for you." Marx playfully winked at her. Amaya was shocked. Did Marx just flirt with her?
"Amaya is an exceptional student. She is overqualified to be in my class!"
"Just as I thought." Marx beamed at Stephane. "Do you have an IQ assessment in school? Can you do one for her?" Marx felt that he was very close to Stephane so he can do such a request.
"I thought that you are that capable. Why would you rely on me for that? Besides, are we even that close?" Stephane snorted.
"Well, we are like brothers before..." Marx did not finish his sentence when a memory flashed before his eyes.
Stephane laughed hard that Amaya turned to look at him.
"That was a long time ago and prior to that incident." a gloominess passed Stephane’s expression but he masked it with a slight smile.
Marx was lost in his thoughts while looking down at his plate and continued to munch his food. Coincidentally, Stephane was doing the same thing.
Amaya sighed. Something was wrong with the two men. What happened in the past that caused a rift in their relationship?
