Chapter 655: 13.20 - Workaholics - Pawprints Of Passion

After years of suffering due to abandonment issues, the abandoned males turned into beasts that preyed upon anything remotely female.

Their sharp eyes zeroed in on Dai An’s petite figure as she sat quietly atop Ru Quan’s arm like a fragile treasure, and their hearts pounded furiously as lustful thoughts invaded their minds.

"Why are you not afraid of us?" they asked collectively and curiously as they started to build a stone castle.

Carrying heavy boulders over to the new foundation, their strong physique worked up a sweat, highlighting every curve and crevice of their muscular bodies.

They were all looking at Dai An, who wasn’t bothered at all, "Not scary enough."

Was it because she didn’t look at them like the locals? Dai An was curious to know more about their bonds with their ex females, but she refrained herself from asking further questions as the males got too busy building her a castle.

How did it come to them building her a castle in the first place?

It all started innocently enough. Dai An had casually mentioned the topic of ’strategic courting’.

No females would give a chance to a "used" male, who had bonded and fell in love with another female. That was just the way things worked here, so if they wanted to take revenge on females that abandoned them, they’d better find some other approach than inflicting violence.

"You should make them regret throwing you away," Dai An said as Ru Quan seated her on a stone throne so he could help the rest with building, "If they abandoned you, rebuild yourself anew, become greater than what they left, and show off your magnificence."

The males couldn’t wrap their heads around this, and tilted them sideways, "By becoming your pets?"

"Happy pets," Dai An emphasized, sitting motionlessly on her newly made rock throne covered in soft pelts that made her bottom comfortable, "It will surely bother them if they see you so satisfied with your life without them."

"If we pretend to have fun," a male beastman suddenly understood, "And pretend that we are happy, then our ex-females will feel bad, right?"

"Exactly!" Dai An said, her excited tone didn’t match her body language at all, but the males nodded, already starting to imagine such a scene in their minds.

The mere thought made them smile wickedly. Finally, vengeance was close at hand. With the help of Dana (Dai An), their new master, they would surely succeed! As a bonus, if those females fell in love with them once again, they could reject them mercilessly, making them feel like trash!

"Yes... Yes!" They chanted, pumping fists in the air enthusiastically before rushing to complete the castle.

Dai An thought their newly collected pets needed a home, a nice comfy place where they could rest and live in luxury. Such a life was worth more than the simple death of those females, no?

Being a princess came with responsibilities too, and Dai An took it very seriously to become one befitting of the ones in the fairy tales...

"..." Ru Quan coughed into his palm, amused by the whole situation. Someone here loved to be worshipped it seemed. He should’ve seen it coming though, Dai An was used to people bowing to her will.

"Hubby gloombug," Dai An called out to him.

"Yes?"

"Eighty percent of the male population would never find a mate," Dai An started to draw conclusions based on the things the male beasts had told her while waiting, "It would be a waste not to convert them into Bing Shi’s believers to boost her power further."

"I don’t think Bing Shi needs to boost her power anymore," Ru Quan sighed, already knowing where she was headed with her words.

"The disparity in power between you is too great, I don’t want to risk her being in danger because of this." Dai An glanced at him with narrowed eyes, her tone taking a darker turn, "You are hiding many dangerous secrets and I need to be prepared for anything."

"What secrets are you talking about?" Ru Quan asked defensively.

"There’s a part of you that feels wrong, but I am yet to figure it out," Dai An replied.

She was always sensitive to any sort of corruption, no matter how good the concealment skills were. Ru Quan was hiding some nasty things about himself. She only needed more time to fully analyze and recognize it.

Ru Quan bit the insides of his cheeks, keeping his face stoic. Dai An was a powerful spiritualist with a good eye for recognizing dangers hidden behind closed doors. What exactly did she catch onto? 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Dai An noticed his hesitation, and didn’t press further, deciding to drop the topic, "Don’t worry, whatever happens, I and Bing Shi will still love you to the bitter end."

"Same goes for me," Ru Quan assured her with confidence, and she nodded, believing him without a doubt, "So let’s stop plotting conspiracies against each other and enjoy ourselves more."

Ru Quan’s reminder made Dai An realize she had been unconsciously accumulating power as if there were threats everywhere around her, "I suppose I am too paranoid..."

"You always take safety precautions a bit too far," he added, "But it saved Bing Shi, so I won’t stop you either. I’d rather be too prepared than unprepared."

A small smile ghosted across Dai An’s lips, "Then it’s decided then. More converts it is."

Ru Quan laughed. Bing Shi was right with their workaholic habits.

"We should keep it from Bing Shi or she would feel bad about ’not working hard enough’," he suggested, and Dai An agreed.

Back in the sheep village, Bing Shi sneezed abruptly, wiping away at her nose, "My gossip senses are tingling. Something interesting must be happening somewhere."

"Bless mommy," Stinky Bun said as he dangled from Ziek’s antlers like a leaf on a tree branch.

Bing Shi sniffed again and sneezed even louder, prompting Xuan Mu to check her temperature.

He then looked at Tyrion sitting pitifully in the corner of the hut. The bull head was trying to hide from both Laura and Aria.

"Must be an allergy," Xuan Mu concluded with a flicker of a sadistic spark in his eyes, "Why don’t we remove the source of discomfort for our wife?"
