QT: Against My Will-Chapter 637 - 13.02 - Backstory - Pawprints Of Passion
In a corner of the universe, a glitch in a cosmic fabric had been keeping two vastly different worlds connected through mysterious rifts.
Every so often, these rifts would pull an unsuspecting human into a different world.
This anomaly had its roots in ancient times, back when offering one’s neighbor’s daughter to the evils and gods as a sacrifice was considered a normal practice.
Both worlds were bound by a cycle of rebirth that would wipe out most of the population. One of which would bear the brunt of these calamities far more often. While it would be remembering how to make fire again, the other would be far ahead, busy inventing things like toasters and TVs.
This mismatched progression of time had led to some crazy encounters whenever the rift decided to play a ’matchmaker’.
Standing at a height of 8 feet, Tyrion towered over his peers, looking every inch a giant, even when seated. Donning only a loincloth, his skin carried a rugged, earthy tone — typical of his buffalo race — a dusky red.
His long hair was tied back away from his face, adorned with beads and various tokens. Two thick horns curled out from the top of his head, jutting out like a bull’s.
The unforgiving wilderness had been his constant companion as he journeyed through the untamed land on his own.
The moment Tyrion’s eyes met Azura’s, a truth as old as time itself roared within him – she was his destined mate. The knowledge was more than a feeling; it was a primal certainty that resonated in the very marrow of his bones.
"Hm?" Bing Shi switched her gaze between her clothes drenched in blood and Tyrion’s ferocious stare, "Hm?!" Her confusion quickly turned into urgency. Cracking a rejuvenation and a speed pill, she ran opposite the reddish hunk.
’Why did I get teleported right before this guy?!’
The exoskeleton that had once enhanced Shina’s legs was no longer a part of her new body. As a result, her sprint was short-lived. She tripped and stumbled on her first step, "..."
Led by his primal instincts, Tyrion charged at Bing Shi, his steps thundering against the ground, eager to take in her scent. His powerful, muscular frame was enough to terrify a seasoned warrior.
Like a madwoman, Bing Shi screamed and roared in his direction, her voice piercing the air. Birds took flight with startled squawks, and smaller animals darted for cover.
The buffalo man took a step back instinctively, stunned by her outburst. Was she trying to intimidate him?
Actually, yes.
She was.
And more.
Felicia and Juliet turned toward the area flocking with birds, "..."
In unison, they took to the air, headed in the direction of the screams.
Juliet, with her exceptional control over the wind, reached Bing Shi’s side first.
Bing Shi waved at Juliet, asking her to quickly take her away, "#&%#%!"
"..." If it wasn’t for the sign language Bing Shi used at the same time, Juliet would have no way of understanding her. Without hesitation, she gathered Bing Shi with her wind and darted deeper into the forest, her movements becoming a blur.
Bing Shi didn’t realize how crucial was the linguistic knowledge stored in each body she occupied. That process was akin to muscle memory—advanced brain memory. Just as her body instinctively knew how to move whenever she entered it, she automatically encoded everything to English without many thoughts. Currently, she didn’t understand what Felicia was saying despite it sounding familiar. On the other hand, she knew exactly what Tyrion had just said.
Tyrion’s eyes burned with a primal fury as he chased after Azura, who flew away with a wisp of wind, "My mate!"
His words were full of possessiveness, fury, and an unyielding determination to obtain back what he considered his.
Bing Shi thought a middle finger would be the best response, but then remembered this was a primitive world and such a gesture would go unnoticed, so she settled on, "I already have a mate, you buffoon!"
Felicia and Juliet widened their eyes in shock when two wings emerged from Tyrion’s back. They spread wide and flapped. Now, he looked more like a demon than a buffalo. With his wings, he was able to gain altitude, allowing him to fly after them.
"I see the sea!" Felicia yelled, "Let’s run towards it!"
The three of them dashed for the sea, with Tyrion hot on their trail. The sea looked safer than this hell hole, where the trees could attack them, and beasts could turn on them.
Juliet created an air bubble around them and submerged them underwater.
Tyrion dived, but he was not fast enough to catch up with the trio.
Under the water, the trio was safe from the crazed buffalo but not from the aquatic predators.
Juliet had been through quite a lot, and the sight of the monsters beneath the sea was not shocking anymore. Felicia, on the other hand, looked ready to scream, even though she was a ghost herself.
Juliet quickly teleported them into her space before the monsters could attack. It was a tightly sealed room, built specially to disinfect themselves from the foreign world’s bacteria and viruses before entering their living space.
’Dai An, I need you to enter Shina’s body.’
With the help of Dai An, Bing Shi was able to understand what Juliet was saying after entering Shina’s body.
Juliet scanned her surroundings before placing the bloodied girl on the ground, "What happened to you?"
Bing Shi gently peeled off her blood-soaked jacket, revealing the stark, deep scar beneath, "&@#(##."
Bing Shi often chose bodies that were on the brink of death — Azura’s strong body and dire situation made her a perfect candidate. The other girl was heavily wounded from a bear attack. While she was slowly succumbing to her injuries, Bing Shi took over.
Felicia, caught off guard, could only stare in shock at the deep claw scars that were healing before her eyes, "How are you still alive?" she studied Azura from up close, "You look so human."
Azura had a fully developed body. Her hair, dark and lustrous, was neatly tied into two black braids, while straight bangs neatly framed her nerdy features.
"$#&;$&," Bing Shi installed the exoskeleton onto her legs, hoping these tiny robots she injected into her muscles would help her move again. After that, she put on her piggy mask, feeling much more comfortable when her face was covered.
Bing Shi had never felt the need to actively learn languages as a host. However, the situation changed completely with her team’s existence.
She had been planning to world hop together with them, and had two options. First was to find a way for them to learn languages quickly or let them take over other’s bodies, much like she did.
