"..." Nathaniel couldn’t believe his own eyes.
Shina was sprawled on her bed, her usual spot, looking completely defenseless, while Victor sat on the floor beside her with his eyes closed. Even in moments of rest, his imposing figure maintained a sense dominance. Despite the physical distance between them, they looked close and intimate.
Victor didn’t know about the spell where Shina would attack any man that got close. He had a habit of staying a certain distance from Shina, and only got near when she took the initiative. The last time he went beyond touching her hand once, she completely flipped.
Liam gave Victor that tip, and Victor didn’t want to believe it at first, but it really worked. In case he wanted a light pet on the head for example, just stay by her side like a dog, give her an expectant puppy look, and the pat would eventually come. (If you allow her to touch you once, you’ll get to touch her in the same place in exchange once too).
Victor wanted to puke blood just thinking about Shina trying to train him into her obedient pet.
"See? I was right." Nathaniel said as he ushered the baby girl towards Victor.
Lily clutched onto her teddy bear, her perfect little round race reflexing a mix of reflection as she confronted Victor, "Mama said Shina’s room is off-limits, but Nathaniel thought maybe you’d be looking for Lily here."
Lily was different from most children her age. She always listened to her mother’s world very carefully, and would try to cram every little teaching into her little brain. She often heard whispers among the adults, hints that Victor was her father, but neither her mother nor Victor had ever confirmed it. This increased her desire to connect with Victor more.
Lily was hiding in Nathaniel’s room because Victor had promised to play hide and seek with her. But he hadn’t come, "You always say you’ll play, but then you go away. Mama says it’s bad to break promises." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Victor finally opened his eyes, shaking his head as if in a daze when he spotted Lily, "Thank goodness you’re here, Lily," he said, a note of relief in his voice, "I need your help. Shina’s team caught me with a stun spell while I was looking for you."
He elaborated on his tale, how Shina had picked a fight with him, and how he defeated her. If it weren’t for her team’s combined action, he would have continued playing hide and seek with Lily.
Lily always saw Shina as a villain, and didn’t hold back to give Victor a lecture, "You tried to fight Shina Night again?" She immediately looked up at Nathaniel in childlike worry, "Nathaniel, could you find something to free him from the spell?" she asked.
Walking ahead, Nathaniel smiled at Victor as he crouched down, "Bear with it, or I’ll tell Lily something she wouldn’t want to hear," he whispered into Victor’s ear as he punched the other man in the stomach, "You are welcome."
Victor’s expression jolted slightly, "..."
Lily’s eyes flicked between Nathaniel and Victor, trying to make sense of the situation, "Is the spell gone?"
Nathaniel played along, understanding the need to maintain the facade for Lily’s sake. "Yes, the spell is gone. Victor was very brave, and now he’s free from it." Lily was like the tiny Bing Shi, a daughter he always wished to have, but could never get, "You should take Victor away. If Elera finds out, he will be in big trouble."
Lily hurriedly grabbed Victor’s hand and began to pull him towards the door. "We need to go. If Mama finds out Lily was here, Lilly will be in big trouble too."
Victor nodded, "You’re right. Let’s get you out of here before anyone notices." He didn’t want to alert Shina’s team for real and let them bust his act. He felt a bit better after the session with Shina, and was ready to cater to his baby girl again, {Nora, stay behind to watch over Shina.}
Nathaniel glanced at his fist. Finally the last person who still carried some memories of Silvia’s past deeds was taken care of. He wondered how vividly Victor still remembered them, and whether those memories were gone or not.
It all depended on their importance. Some people know what she did and would recollect blurry images at most, some would forget altogether. He wanted to avoid any approach that involved force or that could potentially affect a person’s soul and physique.
|"What was Victor doing here again?"| Lu Kai asked, |"Don’t you think you two are getting too close and too comfortable around each other?"|
|"Yes, we are getting to know each other better lately,"| came the reply from Dai An.
"..." Lu Kai looked helplessly at the masked woman on the bed. How could he ever bring himself to punish a person who had been going through punishment her entire life?
|"Could you switch places with Bing Shi for a moment and come inside our space?"| he asked her.
|"I can’t. It’s too depressing in here for Bing Shi to hang around."| Dai An refused.
Lu Kai just wanted to kiss her without breaking their bet, and it seemed like he couldn’t even do that.
|"Hubby nerd."|
|"Yes, my Bitter Sweetie?"| Lu Kai mused about how Dai An started this trend of nicknames, and somehow, they all found themselves joining in. Ru Quan called her Little Monster, but he thought Bitter Sweetie suited her more.
|"It’s really awesome how you keep you calm in every situation like a steady rock in a storm. I don’t get why Bing Shi doesn’t like this new trait of yours, but...I love it."|
|"I can HEAR you."| Bing Shi protested, |"I’m just used to his mood swings. If you went through that phase with me, you would have understood."|
Dai An pulled out a gift bag out of her space, and sent it in Nathaniel’s direction.
"..." Nathaniel opened the gift bag to get a glimpse of a few adult remote toys, "..." He then read the note that was attached to it.
