Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 820 - 818
"If Finn falls asleep, then who knows."
Jimmy chuckled softly. Seeing that she seemed to want to turn around, he immediately grabbed her hand that wasn't holding an umbrella and pulled her along to run.
"Don't run so fast..."
"Women are so troublesome..."
"Why are women troublesome?"
"I didn't say anything."
"Coward, can't even admit what you said."
Haha...
The two of them ran while bickering with each other, and ten minutes later, Jimmy stopped under a big tree, pulling her along.
The tree was very tall, lush, and even though the sun in the sky was like a fireball, it was still cool under the tree, with not a hint of heat in the air. The ground under the tree was bare, unlike other tree bases covered in grass. A few rays of sunlight strained to pierce through the overlapping leaves, barely leaving a faint trace on the ground.
Jimmy let go of her hand and, like a monkey, swiftly climbed up halfway on the tree, pushed aside some branches, and called out to Camila standing on the ground: "Camila, what do you say to taking a nap here?"
At first, Camila didn't understand why he suddenly climbed the tree, but now she realized.
Halfway up the tree, there was a hammock. It was actually just a fishing net tied between two wrist-thick branches. Even an adult lying there wouldn't fall off. From there, one could look down or gaze upwards, feeling both comfortable and cool. It was also quiet and unlikely to be noticed by others.
Camila looked up at the hammock, raising an eyebrow: "Billy, you don't expect me to climb that tree for a nap, do you?"
"This is my private space. Those old guys can't find this place," Jimmy explained, looking down at her. The hammock was midway up the tree, and with the thick foliage, it was really hard to spot. Under the hammock, there were many branches and hidden leaves, making it difficult to see the hammock from the ground.
Thinking of those middle-aged men, Camila felt a tinge of fear and wanted a quiet nap too. But there was only one hammock, so what about Billy if she took it?
"What about you?"
Camila asked, intrigued.
Jimmy's deep eyes flickered as he pointed earnestly to a branch not far away and said, "I'll just sit on that branch and take a rest with my eyes closed."
Camila hesitated for a moment before deciding to climb up to the tree for a nap.
Wearing shoes, she hugged the tree trunk, which was too large for her to encircle, and tried several times to climb but failed. The tree was too big for her to wrap her arms around, making it hard to climb.
"Grab the lowest branch like I did, and just flip yourself up," Jimmy, sitting on a branch, watched her amusedly, knowing she couldn't climb up.
She wasn't a true lady, but she certainly wasn't accustomed to such wild actions like climbing trees.
Following his suggestion, Camila jumped to grasp the lowest branch and struggled to flip herself up. After several attempts, she still couldn't and felt her face flushing.
She had never climbed a tree in her life.
Luckily, she had changed out of her wet dress after playing in the water with Jimmy and was now wearing pants, or else her attempts would have led to an embarrassing situation.
"Silly Camila, you're really clumsy. Fine, I'll reluctantly give you a hand." Jimmy teased as he jumped down in front of her like a monkey.
Standing on the branch closest to the ground, he held onto a branch with one hand and extended the other to Camila, gesturing for her to take it and climb up.
Stubbornly, Camila waved his hand away, insisting on getting up by herself.
If she couldn't do it once, she'd try twice. If that failed, she'd try a third time, convinced she'd succeed eventually.
Jimmy just smiled at her persistence, enjoying her little show.
After nearly half an hour, the determined Camila finally climbed up the tree.
Jimmy glanced at her with a doting gaze, not saying a word, before climbing back up to the hammock.
Cautiously, Camila followed him up, afraid of falling by accident.
If Rachel Bailey saw her carefully groomed daughter, raised as a proper lady for fifteen years, learning to climb trees with Jimmy, behaving so wildly, she'd surely be outraged.
Finally lying on the hammock, Camila sighed with relief, her demeanor relaxing, and a sense of joy overtook her.
She closed her eyes and gently swayed, feeling incredibly comfortable.
The cool shade under the tree contrasted sharply with the outside heat.
"Get some sleep for an hour or two. Those old guys will wake up by then, and we must return to the house to prevent them from harming the little beauty," Jimmy said softly, his voice deep and slightly intoxicating.
Camila didn't respond, keeping her eyes closed, looking relaxed and at ease. Under the gentle breeze, she slowly drifted into dreamland, feeling more rested than she did the previous night.
Seeing her silent, Jimmy stopped talking, climbed a bit higher, and sat, gazing deeply at her from above.
A while later, he called softly, "Camila, are you asleep?"
But Camila was far in dreamland and couldn't hear him.
Without a response, Jimmy carefully slid down from above. He frequently came here; his tree-climbing skills were second nature by now. Casual climbing wouldn't lead to a fall; he was cautious to avoid waking Camila.
The hammock could fit two, and Jimmy had his reasons for bringing Camila here for a nap.
As a child, when he stayed with the Ruiz Family, he loved sneaking into Camila's room at night to tell her ghost stories, scaring her too much to sleep alone, letting him share her bed.
He wanted to be "bedfellows" with her.
Call him cunning or sly, his aim was to enter her heart, to keep anyone else from taking her away someday.
Stealthily entering the hammock, Jimmy lay cautiously beside Camila, pulling her gently into his embrace, letting her head rest on his chest, and contentedly closed his eyes.
Held close, with warmth and softness, Jimmy couldn't fall asleep; he merely rested with his eyes shut.
Perhaps life was too harsh; even asleep, he'd never let himself sleep too deeply, always alert to the slightest sound.
