Glades Horne glanced at him, smiled, and remained silent. Hansen Ruiz also smiled.

Checking the time, he stood up and said, "My Rachel is free around now, so I'll head off to be with my wife." Rachel Bailey usually had free time in the afternoon. In the morning, she'd be busy delivering goods to the market or manufacturers with the driver she'd hired. Therefore, the couple usually spent their afternoons together.

Glades Horne didn't say a word, not even bothering to lift his eyelids, and simply let out two words in a deep voice: "Wife-whipped!"

Hansen Ruiz paid him no mind and turned to leave. When his peripheral vision caught the snack stand again, a profound look flashed through his gentle, deep eyes once more.

He was going to give Rachel Bailey a big surprise. How could he possibly not know what his beloved wife liked to eat, given his usual attentiveness and resourceful investigation?

After Hansen Ruiz left, the vast CEO's office became even quieter. Glades Horne sat in his chair, spinning it a few times before stopping. Then, he took out his phone and dialed Julia Bluen's number.

Julia Bluen picked up his call quickly.

"Glades." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Hearing her voice, tinged with a light smile, made Glades Horne's heart melt. People say even the toughest steel can be bent by a gentle touch, and at this moment, he believed it.

"Julia," Glades Horne said, his voice deepening, making it sound even more magnetic. He enjoyed teasing Julia Bluen this way, intoxicating her with his voice. He knew his gaze and voice were what she found most irresistible, so he was adept at using his advantages to captivate his beloved wife.

Thinking back to when their relationship had changed, Julia had been extremely uncomfortable. He had used his irresistible gaze and voice to conquer her, along with his care and sincere devotion. Once he had understood his true feelings, he resolved that he wouldn't let this marriage be one where he was the only one giving his all.

"You're not going out tonight, are you?" Glades Horne asked softly. She had been attending various evening receptions to build popularity for her mother's beauty salon. Since she'd been out with her mother every night for the past few days, he truly felt neglected. He hoped that tonight, she would be entirely his.

"I'm free tonight," Julia Bluen answered.

"Wait for me at home. Don't go anywhere. Tonight, you're completely mine."

Julia Bluen chuckled, her laughter carrying through the phone, prompting Glades Horne to chuckle as well.

"Got it, you tyrant."

"So what if I'm a tyrant?"

"Nothing at all. I like it!"

With a giggle, Julia Bluen then hung up.

"Little rascal, teasing me again."

Glades Horne brought the phone to his lips, kissed it lightly, and then put it away.

Back in her house, after hanging up Glades Horne's call, Julia Bluen returned from the balcony to her room and then walked downstairs. Dressed in maternity wear, her four-month pregnant belly was now noticeably bulging; it was clear at a glance to any discerning eye that she was pregnant. The baby's movements were also becoming more frequent. It wasn't just during the most active period between seven and nine in the evening; during the day, if she touched her belly, the baby would stir.

"Young Madam."

Sister Hong, who was tidying up the coffee table by the sofa on the first floor, quickly greeted Julia Bluen with a smile when she saw her coming downstairs.

"Sister Hong," Julia Bluen returned the smile and nodded.

"Where are Miss Adele and Madam Horne?" Julia Bluen asked. She hadn't seen her mother-in-law or sister-in-law that afternoon.

"Miss Adele hasn't come downstairs; I guess she's in her room. Madam Horne went out; she mentioned something about checking out a shop. The Master insisted on accompanying her, so Madam Horne went out with the Master," Sister Hong told Julia Bluen everything she knew.

Her father-in-law was certainly becoming increasingly attentive to her mother-in-law, Julia Bluen thought. After cheating for over thirty years, now he was fawning over her; something was definitely fishy with him. However, Julia Bluen didn't want to meddle too much in her in-laws' affairs. Even though she sympathized with her mother-in-law and despised her father-in-law's actions, these were issues between them. It wasn't her place as a daughter-in-law to interfere, nor should she. She was, however, somewhat concerned that Adele Horne hadn't come downstairs.

She said no more and walked towards the courtyard.

Marcel Horne was already back in his wheelchair. He struggled to stand up and managed to take one difficult step. He pressed on, enduring extreme pain, and took several more steps until cold sweat beaded on his forehead. Ruby Bluen then quickly helped him sit back down in his wheelchair.

"Marcel, don't rush. Take it slow. You've made great progress! Look, you're all sweaty." Ruby Bluen knelt, her heart aching as she took a fragrant tissue and tenderly wiped the sweat from Marcel Horne's face.

The elderly lady, seemingly basking in the sun but actually keeping an eye on the star-crossed lovers, quietly turned her head to wipe her moist eyes. Just then, she happened to see Julia Bluen emerge from the house.

She immediately called out with a smile, "Julia, come and enjoy the sun. It's so soft and comfortable. We won't have sunshine like this for much longer." After all, once spring passed, summer would follow with its scorching sun, relentlessly fierce even in the afternoon.

Julia Bluen also smiled and walked towards the elderly lady. Her gaze, however, fell on her sister, Ruby Bluen, and Marcel Horne.

Ruby Bluen straightened up and turned to meet her sister's gaze, replacing her concern with the familiar warm smile they shared. "Julia," she asked, "aren't you napping? You've been so tired these past few days. You should rest more. Is the baby behaving?"

It had been a month since her marriage to Marcel Horne, and there was still no sign of pregnancy. She, too, longed to conceive Marcel's child soon. However, considering she still needed to care for him, being pregnant would be very inconvenient. Besides, Marcel didn't want her to be so exhausted. He had said that once he could stand again and be her pillar of strength, they would have a child. To take care of Marcel Horne, she had even given up her job.
