Primordial Soul's Rebirth-CHAPTER 404 - Entry to Melanochelys.
The screams had died down.
Not because the pain had subsided, but because Vaelith’s vocal cords were no longer intact.
The destructive energy—Alex’s signature magic—had long since burned through his shoulder and was now slowly gnawing at his ribs, spine, and consciousness.
The man was in pain and horrified as his gaze kept quivering.
’I-I’m going to die!’ Vaelith panicked, fearing his impending demise.
And Alex, as if reading his thoughts, smiled wider.
The rest of the crowd had gone silent, afraid to breathe or blink, scared to draw any attention toward themselves.
Not even the rustling leaves of the great world tree in the far distance dared to make a sound.
Thranduil stood frozen, sword in hand, still sheathed, sweat pouring down his temple.
His instincts screamed at him to run, teleport away, and escape while he still could, but his body refused to move as crushing fear held him in place.
’Fuck! If I had known he was the demon lord, I wouldn’t even have stayed here!’ He yelled inwardly.
Everyone heard the rumors that the demon lord was strong enough to fight against the demon generals.
Even the reclusive leaders of their empire knew about the demon lord.
What was worse was that the demon lord had already visited the Beast Empire and the Phoenix Empire.
The Beast Empire was fine, as the emperor had made the demon lord his sworn brother, but the Phoenix Empire didn’t.
One of the dukes of Phoenixia was killed by the demon lord before everyone in the market square of the capital.
It was clear that the demon lord wasn’t some crazed being who only thought about killing.
He was someone who valued relations.
The welcome they gave him, however, wasn’t something friendly.
So, Thranduil wondered if they would face a situation similar to Phoenixia.
Alex, however, didn’t care what others were thinking.
"You know," Alex said, tapping his chin as he stared at Vaelith, "I was thinking of letting you off with just a broken arm. But then you eyed my women. That... well, that just made this personal."
He stood up, brushing nonexistent dust from his shoulders. His expression was calm, almost pleasant.
And that terrified everyone even more.
However, soon, everyone’s eyes turned to the beast girls beside the demon lord as they started to change forms—the illusion undone by Alex.
One of them transformed into a redhead human woman with fiery eyes, beautiful enough to make the elven women lower their heads.
If that wasn’t enough, the other three weren’t any worse.
All of them were enchanting in their way.

A petite woman with black hair and amethyst eyes had a calming air around her.
Another woman with red hair and eyes, wearing an elegant dress unlike the other redhead, had a motherly air around her, making people want to lie on her lap.
The last one was a girl with dark blue hair and purple eyes, her presence calm yet inviting. She felt like the type who would say yes to anything you asked her.
But no matter how beautiful the women were, no one dared to look at them for long, as the one standing before them, asserting himself, was the demon lord.
They had already seen an example of what happens when one tries to mess with his women, so even the bravest in the crowd kept their eyes away from the women, fearing a death similar to Vaelith’s.
Soon, Alex’s eyes scanned the crowd, as if locking on everyone, trying to find a new target before his lips moved.
"I don’t suppose any of you have objections to me walking through the gates now?" he asked, his voice smooth as silk yet laced with a threat that made the crowd flinch.
No one moved, making Alex nod before he turned toward Thranduil, who had taken a shaky step backward.
"You, elf. I didn’t get your answer. Do you also want a meeting with Lady Death?"
[Why did you assume Death is Lady?] Sophia’s voice echoed in Alex’s head as soon as he finished, making him shrug.
’I feel death and I will have a long relationship, so assuming her to be Lady is in my best interest. After all, I’m not gay,’ he replied, making Sophia sigh inwardly.
Thranduil, on the other hand, trembled, his jaw tensing as he heard those words.
He wasn’t weak. He was a legendary-ranked imperial knight.
His name alone had once shaken entire battlefields. But this was no ordinary opponent.
This was Alex, the demon lord—the monster whose very existence defied logic and hierarchy.
"I..." Thranduil swallowed, dropping his sword. "The gates are open for you, my lord."
A murmur rippled through the crowd.
But Alex merely nodded, satisfied, and began walking toward the massive gates of the capital city.
Behind him, Alice, Ann, Emberlyn, and Seraphyra followed silently.
Emberlyn’s eyes carried a weight of worry and inevitability as she wondered what would happen.
She had tried. She really had.
But now, all she could do was make sure Alex didn’t burn the entire empire and her friend to ashes.
As they approached the entrance, the detection barrier around the capital began to glow a bright blue light.
Magic circles emerged from the stone beneath their feet, hovering momentarily before scanning each of them.
"Hm, this could be a problem," Alex muttered.
The scanner was supposed to scan any ID proof or entry permit before letting anyone enter. But their entry permit—the letter with imperial insignia—was burned by Vaelith, so how would they enter?
"Should I destroy the barrier?" He questioned out loud, making Emberlyn and Seraphyra go wide-eyed.
Both of them had different reasons for being shocked.
Seraphyra, because she couldn’t imagine anyone breaking through the barrier of the empire known for its strongest defense—something even the demon generals had failed to break through.
Emberlyn, on the other hand, thought Alex was serious and he would do it.
She felt that things would worsen if she let that happen, so she wanted to stop Alex, but before she could, something happened.
It was something no one had seen before.
The barrier welcomed Alex.
It literally did that.
The energy twisted itself into the shape of a curvaceous woman before it made a welcoming gesture for Alex, inviting him inside.
The barrier parted, making way for Alex and his group to enter.
However, that had never happened before, as the barrier never parted. One had to pass through the barrier.
Gasps filled the air.
"That... that’s impossible," a guard muttered. "Even dukes aren’t recognized like that by the barrier!"
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Well, guess I won’t have to break it."
He stepped through the glowing threshold.
The capital city of Melanochelys spread out before them.
Towering trees intertwined with crystal buildings, sunlight pouring through enchanted foliage, and a distant glow from the world tree’s towering trunk.
It was beautiful, untouched by war, and pure, something Seraphyra found spectacular.
She couldn’t believe such a beautiful place existed.
But she wasn’t the only one marveling at the scene; Ann and Alice were the same, glancing around like curious children, disregarding whatever had happened before.
Alex looked at them and smiled before he whispered to Emberlyn, "Let’s hope she’s more reasonable than her pets."
Emberlyn nodded, her gaze drifting to Vaelith, whose body was now an empty, disintegrated shell, his ashes swept into the wind like a warning.
As the barrier closed behind them, the imperial city was experiencing a change for the first time in centuries.
The Demon Lord had entered, not with destruction in his mind, at least not until he was given a reason.
